Bears re-signed CB Kelvin Hayden to a one-year contract.
Hayden, 31 in July, missed the entire 2013 season with a torn left hamstring and has battled various injuries throughout his career. He appeared in all 16 games in 2012 and is a key special teams player. As Isaiah Frey has developed into a solid slot corner, Hayden's 2014 defensive role is up in the air. Feb 28 - 12:10 PM

ESPN Chicago reports there's a "strong" chance the Bears re-sign free agent CB Kelvin Hayden.

Hayden tore his left hamstring last summer and spent the season on injured reserve. He was expected to serve as the Bears' nickel corner. With Charles Tillman a free agent and looking like he could be headed elsewhere, Hayden will help stabilize the position for the time being. He'll likely only net a one-year deal.

ESPN Chicago reports the Bears have expressed interest in re-signing free agent CB Kelvin Hayden.

Hayden spent the 2013 season on injured reserve with a hamstring injury, but was expected to serve as the Bears' nickel cornerback prior to going down. He should only require a one-year deal to return.

Bears placed CB Kelvin Hayden on injured reserve with a torn left hamstring, ending his season.

The move to injured reserve was just a formality. Hayden faces a six-to-eight month recovery and should be ready for OTAs next spring. He'll be a free agent next March, so he might face a frosty market early on. Isaiah Frey and Zackary Bowman will compete for nickel duties in Chicago with Hayden out.

Bears CB Kelvin Hayden tore his left hamstring and is done for the season.

He needs surgery and faces 6-8 months of recovery. Re-signed to a one-year deal in the offseason, 30-year-old Hayden was expected to serve as the Bears' nickel cornerback. He played 472 snaps last season and recorded 37 tackles, five breakups, and one interception. Isaiah Frey is the leading in-house candidate to replace Hayden at slot corner, which is a potentially huge downgrade.

Bears re-signed CB Kelvin Hayden to a one-year contract.

It was the Bears' preference all along to re-sign their slot cornerback. Going on his ninth year in the league, Hayden notched 37 tackles and one pick last season. He should see somewhere in the neighborhood of 450-500 snaps in 2013.

The Bears are expected to re-sign free agent CB Kelvin Hayden.

ESPN Chicago reports the Bears would like to re-sign free agent CB Kelvin Hayden, but that he's expected to test the open market.

The former Colt served as the Bears' slot corner last season, notching 37 tackles and one interception in 472 snaps. Hayden won't draw interest as a starter in a flooded cornerback market.

The Chicago Tribune says the Bears will "probably" try to re-sign free agent CB Kelvin Hayden.

Hayden functioned well as the Bears' nickel corner last season, behind starters Charles Tillman and Tim Jennings. With the free agent cornerback pool exceptionally deep, the Bears won't have to break the bank to bring him back.

The 28-year-old was a liability in coverage while picking up mid-season snaps with the Falcons last season. Lovie Smith's Tampa-2 defense should be a better for his skills, though he's unlikely to play beyond sub-packages.
