Bears re-signed CB Kelvin Hayden to a one-year contract.
It was the Bears' preference all along to re-sign their slot cornerback. Going on his ninth year in the league, Hayden notched 37 tackles and one pick last season. He should see somewhere in the neighborhood of 450-500 snaps in 2013. Mar 26 - 7:57 PM

Date:

The Bears are expected to re-sign free agent CB Kelvin Hayden.

Hayden hasn't received a peep of known interest on the open market. He's most valuable to the Bears, who lost D.J. Moore to the Panthers in free agency. Hayden is needed as a slot corner.

ESPN Chicago reports the Bears would like to re-sign free agent CB Kelvin Hayden, but that he's expected to test the open market.

The former Colt served as the Bears' slot corner last season, notching 37 tackles and one interception in 472 snaps. Hayden won't draw interest as a starter in a flooded cornerback market.
Mar 5 - 6:27 PM

The Chicago Tribune says the Bears will "probably" try to re-sign free agent CB Kelvin Hayden.

Hayden functioned well as the Bears' nickel corner last season, behind starters Charles Tillman and Tim Jennings. With the free agent cornerback pool exceptionally deep, the Bears won't have to break the bank to bring him back.

Bears CB Kelvin Hayden (toe) is is now practicing at OTAs.

Hayden was still in a walking boot as of early April, but he's progressed back to 100 percent. The former Colts starter and Super Bowl hero ran with the first-team defense at Wednesday's practice, with Charles Tillman absent from the voluntary workout. Hayden will battle for sub-package duties this August.

Bears CB Kelvin Hayden (toe) will not be ready of the start of the Bears' offseason program April 16.

Hayden is still in a walking boot after a toe injury landed him on injured reserve in late December. He'll have to prove he's healthy and effective in training camp to earn a roster spot.

Bears signed CB Kelvin Hayden to a one-year contract.

The 28-year-old was a liability in coverage while picking up mid-season snaps with the Falcons last season. Lovie Smith's Tampa-2 defense should be a better for his skills, though he's unlikely to play beyond sub-packages.

Free agent CB Kelvin Hayden will reportedly visit the Saints this weekend.

Although 2010 first-rounder Patrick Robinson is expected to move into the starting lineup, the Saints are on the lookout for veteran depth after losing Tracy Porter to the Broncos.

Free agent CB Kelvin Hayden will reportedly visit with the Bears on Wednesday.

Hayden spent last season as a reserve in Atlanta. With a background in the Colts' Tampa-2 defense, his skills should be a good fit for Lovie Smith's defense in Chicago.

Falcons placed CB Kelvin Hayden (toe) on injured reserve, ending his season.

Hayden has been dealing with a dislocated toe for much of the season. With Brent Grimes now healthy, his services aren't needed. Hayden's season ends with 24 tackles and two interceptions in eight games.

Hayden was listed as "questionable" to return by the team, but he's very unlikely to go back in. Chris Owens will stand in as Atlanta's nickel cornerback.

Falcons agreed to terms with CB Kelvin Hayden, formerly of the Colts.

Atlanta only has two starting-caliber outside cornerbacks on its roster: Brent Grimes and Dunta Robinson. Still just 28 years old, Hayden qualifies as a third, though he'll need to pick up the defensive scheme quickly to be an early-season asset. The Falcons' current slot corner is Chris Owens. Ideally, Hayden would unseat him for the No. 3 corner role sooner rather than later.

The Falcons are hosting free agent CB Kelvin Hayden for a visit on Wednesday.

NFLN's Jason La Canfora reports that Hayden could sign with Atlanta as soon as today. With the Falcons, Hayden would have a chance to play for a contender, though probably only as a nickel or dime back. He's previously drawn differing levels of interest from the Vikings and Bears, but they both moved on.

The Vikings hosted free agent CB Kelvin Hayden on Monday.

NFLN's Jason La Canfora also reports that Hayden was in Kansas City last week, but left without a contract. The Bears also passed on Hayden, apparently over medical concerns. Hayden could fit Minnesota's defensive scheme after playing in a similar system with Indianapolis, but health is the big issue.

The Bears have decided not to sign free agent CB Kelvin Hayden at this time, sources tell the Chicago Tribune.

Hayden, who says he is fully recovered from last year's neck injury, visited Chicago on Monday and took a physical. But for now, the Bears are going to stand pat with D.J. Moore as their nickel back and Zack Bowman battling Tim Jennings for a starting gig.
