Raiders placed QB Charlie Frye (wrist) on injured reserve, ending his season.
Coach Tom Cable speculates that Frye will need 5-6 months rehabbing. Frye was fourth on the depth chart, and there aren't many good reasons to believe we'll ever see him take a meaningful snap in the NFL again. Thu, Aug 19, 2010 08:57:00 PM

Raiders QB Charlie Frye will undergo surgery Wednesday to repair an injury to his right wrist.

The injury and recovery timetable are both unspecified, but Frye was already behind Bruce Gradkowski and Kyle Boller to be one of Jason Campbell's backups. The former Akron star might be a candidate for injured reserve.

Raiders QB Charlie Frye (right wrist) is headed to see a hand specialist.

"I guess they just want to find out some more about what's going on in there because I can't throw a football," Frye said. Not being able to throw is usually a problem for a quarterback. This will seal Frye's fate as Bruce Gradkowski and Kyle Boller are Jason Campbell's likely backups.

Raiders re-signed QB Charlie Frye, a restricted free agent, to a one-year, $1.226 million contract.

Frye, 29 before the season, appeared in three games last year, completing 60.9% of his passes with a career-best 6.7 YPA but posting a 1:4 TD-to-INT ratio. He won't be higher than No. 3 on the depth chart if he makes the team.

The Raiders have extended a low (original pick) tender to restricted free agent QB Charlie Frye.

He's set up for a $1.226 million salary and is safe as a former third-round pick. Frye is the favorite to be Oakland's third-string quarterback in 2010.

Charlie Frye left Sunday's game against the Ravens late in the first half with back and ankle injuries.

Frye was getting roughed up the entire game and repeatedly peeled himself off the turf. JaMarcus Russell has come on to replace Frye, who was on his way to another 300-yard game.

Charlie Frye will start for the Raiders against the Ravens Sunday.

As expected, Frye gets the nod over J.P Losman and JaMarcus Russell. He threw for 333 yards last week, but was picked off three times and the Raiders didn't score any touchdowns. Frye is not a long-term solution for the Raiders.

Charlie Frye completed 26-of-45 passes for 333 yards, no TDs, and three interceptions as the Raiders fell to Cleveland in Week 16.

He's better than JaMarcus Russell, but that's not saying much. Frye did move the ball effectively against Cleveland's lowly defense, showing plenty of arm strength in the intermediate range but wildly erratic accuracy. It wouldn't be an awful idea for the Raiders to see what J.P. Losman has in Week 17.

Raiders coach Tom Cable announced Wednesday that Charlie Frye will be the team's starting quarterback in Week 16.

Cable said Bruce Gradkowski (torn MCLs) is improving "rapidly," but remains doubtful for this game. Frye will get the nod against his former team, the Browns. He'll be on a short leash, though, and isn't a two-QB league option.

Coach Tom Cable announced following Sunday's win that Charlie Frye (head) will remain the Raiders' starting quarterback in Week 16 if he's healthy.

Frye appeared to suffer a concussion in the fourth quarter at Denver and JaMarcus Russell came on to throw a game-winning touchdown, but it's clear that Cable still has no faith in the former No. 1 overall pick. Russell did receive a game ball after the upset victory. Frye's Week 16 status is uncertain.

Charlie Frye left Sunday's game in the fourth quarter with an apparent concussion.

Frye was leveled by linebacker Andra Davis, hitting his head hard on the turf. Trainers gave him time to get up, but it was apparent that he needed to come out of the game. It looks like he's done for the day, finishing 9-of-17 for 68 yards and an interception. JaMarcus Russell has come on to replace him.

Coach Tom Cable announced Wednesday that Charlie Frye will be Oakland's starting quarterback in Week 15 against Denver.

Barring the conversion to left tackle we've been pulling for two years running, JaMarcus Russell's time in Oakland is nearing its end. Look for him to be waived in the offseason. Frye, of course, has no chance of success against a Broncos defense that ranks No. 2 against the pass and seventh in the league in sacks. Avoid Raiders skill players in Week 15...and 16...and 17 too.

The Raiders aren't expected to announce a starting QB for Week 15 at Denver before Wednesday's practice.

Bruce Gradkowski (knees) is out, so Oakland is deciding between JaMarcus Russell and Charlie Frye. Beat writer Jerry McDonald suggests that coach Tom Cable will name a starter only after consulting hands-on owner Al Davis.

Coach Tom Cable said Monday that the Raiders are considering starting Charlie Frye at quarterback in Week 11.

Frye has three appearances since 2006. The former third-round pick holds a career record of 6-14, YPA of 6.1, and 16-25 TD to INT ratio. He may be a better option than JaMarcus Russell, but definitely isn't a long-term solution. Frye could get the nod because Bruce Gradkowski has a hamstring injury.

The Charlie Frye and Bruce Gradkowski battle for the No. 3 QB job is in a dead heat.

This wasn't the quarterback competition that people predicted heading into Raiders camp. Jeff Garcia hasn't pushed JaMarcus Russell at all. Meanwhile, there's two games left in the Clipboard Bowl between Frye and Gradkowski.
