Former Chiefs, Colts, and Patriots QB David Greene has retired.
"I think I'm pretty much done," he said. "I've traveled around a pretty good bit and played on a bunch of different teams." A third-round pick of the Seahawks in 2005, Greene didn't have the arm strength to make it in the pros. He is still the record holder at Georgia for wins with 42 in 52 consecutive starts. Colts signed QB David Greene and WR Taj Smith to their practice squad.

Green, a once promising third-rounder, has never developed as an NFL player and continues to bounce from practice squad to practice squad. Smith is a former undrafted free agent out of Syracuse.

Chiefs released QB David Greene.

The 2005 third-round pick has probably run his course in the league.

Chiefs signed QB David Greene to a two-year contract.

Greene, a former Seattle draft pick, was on Kansas City's practice squad. This will keep him under the Chiefs' control for the offseason, although he's hardly a lock to make the team next year.

Chiefs signed QB David Greene to their practice squad.

Greene will provide depth at QB with No. 3 Tyler Thigpen being placed on injured reserve. Green was drafted by Seattle in the third round in 2005, but hasn't done anything since. He was most recently on New England's practice squad.

Patriots released QB David Greene from their practice squad.

Greene may have run out of chances. The former Georgia Bulldog broke Peyton Manning's all-time record for college wins by a quarterback, but has made no impact since being Seattle's third-round draft choice in 2005.

Patriots signed QB David Greene and S Ray Ventrone to their practice squad.

Rookie OL Clint Oldenburg was released from the squad. Ventrone was last with the Jets' practice squad. Greene was Seattle's third-round pick in 2005.

Free agent QB David Greene, who worked out for Dallas last Friday, has also scheduled visits with Tennessee and New England.

Undrafted rookie Matt Gutierrez, who could probably make it through waivers to the practice squad, is the Patriots' third QB. The Titans have just two QBs.

Seahawks released QB David Greene.

Greene doesn't have a particularly strong arm and never improved in three years under Mike Holmgren. Don't count on his career being much longer.

The Seahawks are expected to cut QB David Greene to make space for newly-acquired Alvin Pearman.

The Seahawks had hoped Greene would step up this preseaon and claim the back-up QB job, but he didn't.

The Seahawks have not seen enough from David Greene this preseason to consider moving Seneca Wallace to wide receiver.

He threw three interceptions against the Packers last weekend and coach Mike Holmgren called out the former third-round pick for having accuracy issues. Greene has shown next to nothing in his three years as a pro.

Seattle GM Tim Ruskell says the team could use Seneca Wallace in more roles if David Greene earns Mike Holmgren's confidence in the preseason.

Wallace could play wideout and special teams if Holmgren felt comfortable with Greene taking over as his top backup. However, Greene has never had a strong preseason and would likely need to take a big step this time around.

GM Tim Ruskell says Seattle isn't down on third QB David Greene.

He did admit to having "some question marks" about Greene's progress, but says "We're not down on David. We like David. We're excited about David." The Seahawks could still bring in late-round competition.

Seahawks declared QB David Greene, S Oliver Celestin, LB Kevin Bentley, G Rob SimsT Ray Willis, TE Jerramy Stevens, DT Chris Cooper, and DT Russell Davis inactive for Sunday's contest.

Greene is Seattle's third quarterback. Stevens and Davis are both dealing with injuries. No surprises here really.

Seahawks QB David Greene completed 13-of-19 passes for 144 yards in Seattle's 30-7 win over previously-undefeated Oakland Thursday night.

The former SEC Player of the Year is no longer in danger of being cut. We still don't recommend him in dynasty leagues.
