Rams GM Billy Devaney says St. Louis will go with two quarterbacks for now, but would probably sign free agent Brock Berlin if they decide to add another.
Kyle Boller will be backed up by Keith Null while Marc Bulger is out. Berlin was with the Rams from 2007 until he was waived in September. He's a borderline NFL third-stringer, if that. Wed, Nov 25, 2009 12:00:00 PM

Lions signed QB Brock Berlin to their practice squad.

The odds of Berlin cracking a 53-man roster again aren't very good.

Rams waived QB Brock Berlin.

Berlin clearly isn't an NFL quarterback, even as a backup.

Backup quarterback Brock Berlin suffered a sprained MCL in the Rams' preseason win over the Jets Friday.

The Rams say he's day to day, but it probably doesn't matter. The Rams will be on the prowl for an upgrade at third QB at roster cuts. Rookie Keith Null is likely headed to the practice squad. St. Louis will keep close tabs on Philadelphia. The Eagles have four quarterbacks on their current roster.

Rams declared third QB Brock Berlin, CB Fakhir Brown, S David Roach, OG Richie Incognito, OT Anthony Davis, DE Eric Moore, OG Jacob Bell, and DT Antwon Burton inactive for Week 17.

Steven Jackson is active and will start despite his hamstring injury. Jonathan Wade starts at right cornerback. Incognito and Bell are both starters on the offensive line, but the Rams should still be able to run at Atlanta.

Rams declared third QB Brock Berlin, RB Antonio Pitman, CB Quincy Butler, S David Roach, G/C Cory Withrow, OG Roy Schuening, DT Antwon Burton, and OT Anthony Davis inactive for Week 16.

The Rams will use Kenneth Darby over Pittman as Steven Jackson's backup. It's clear now that Pittman has been passed on the depth chart.

Rams declared third QB Brock Berlin, CB Tye Hill, LB Chris Draft, LB Larry Grant, C Cory Withrow, G Roy Schuening, T Anthony Davis, and DE Eric Moore inactive for Week 13 against Miami.

Marc Bulger, Orlando Pace, and Steven Jackson are starting. Will Witherspoon is active, but rookie David Vobora is starting at middle linebacker.

Brock Berlin generated just six yards on 1-of-3 passing after replacing Trent Green in the Rams' Week 12 loss to Chicago.

He played in the fourth quarter after Trent Green was pulled for throwing four interceptions. Berlin would not make most NFL teams' 53-man rosters.

The Rams plan on carrying three quarterbacks this season.

Teams may back off the risky two-QB approach after all the injuries last year. Unless the Rams go after Daunte Culpepper, who Scott Linehan knows well and is available, Brock Berlin has the inside track for the Rams' third job.

Rams declare QB Brock Berlin, WR Marques Hagans, WR Brandon Williams, DB Hanik Milligan, C Nick Leckey, T Rob Petitti, T Mark LeVoir, DT Claude Wroten inactive for Week 15.

Marc Bulger is active and will start. Gus Frerotte is also active as the Rams backup, leaving Berlin to serve as the emergency quarterback.

Brock Berlin completed 17-of-28 passes for 153 yards, no TDs, and one interception in St. Louis' Week 14 loss to Cincinnati.

Considering the conditions and that he had never thrown an NFL pass coming in, Berlin didn't play all that badly. The Rams came out throwing and Berlin got the ball to Torry Holt eight times, though he did lose a pair of fumbles. With Marc Bulger and Gus Frerotte both out indefinitely, it wouldn't be a surprise to see Berlin start versus Green Bay in Week 15.

Rams signed QB Brock Berlin from their practice squad.

The smallish, weak-armed former Florida Gator and Miami Hurricane knows Scott Linehan's system, but that's about it. Berlin's addition signals the Rams could be preparing to be without Marc Bulger (head) in Week 13.

Rams released QB Brock Berlin.

It was thought the trade of Ryan Fitzpatrick would have opened up a roster spot for Berlin, but the Rams seem content to go with two quarterbacks.

Rams signed QB Brock Berlin, formerly of the Cowboys.

Berlin will be lucky to make it to June with the team.

Cowboys released QB Brock Berlin.

Holdover practice squad quarterback Matt Baker and undrafted rookie Matt Moore showed enough early that Berlin easily became expendable.
