Ravens released WR Brandon Jones.
A five-year veteran, Jones has caught 113 passes for 1,398 yards in 59 career games. However, he did not get on the field in 2010. The Carroll County Times' Aaron Wilson reports his lack of special teams ability hurt his chances of making the Ravens. Sat, Sep 3, 2011 12:49:00 PM

Ravens signed WR Brandon Jones, formerly of the Seahawks.

Jones, 28, was out of football in 2010 after being among Seattle's final camp cuts. Once a promising prospect, Jones hasn't been the same since a 2005 torn ACL. He's averaged 11.35 yards per reception on his last 63 catches (just one since the 2008 season), and won't solve Baltimore's deep threat woes.

Seahawks released WR Brandon Jones, WR Ruvell Martin, DE James Wyche, LB Tyjuan Hagler, and DT Amon Gordon.

Ben Obomanu won the fifth receiver job with an advantage on special teams. Seattle is going young at the position with Mike Williams, Deon Butler, and Golden Tate behind veteran Deion Branch.

Seahawks signed WR Brandon Jones, formerly of the 49ers.

The deal is likely for one year with little or no guaranteed money. Jones, still just 27, did catch 41 balls as recently as 2008 in Tennessee, but he hasn't been the same since tearing his ACL at the end of the 2005 season. The signing could indicate a number of things in Seattle, including that the team is gearing up to release Deion Branch. Golden Tate also appears to have already hit the rookie wall, or at least the training camp version.

Free agent WR Brandon Jones will reportedly meet with the Raiders on Sunday.

Jones has already worked out for the Seahawks and Vikings. The Raiders have a need at the position with Darrius Heyward-Bey really tired and Chaz Schilens still dealing with ongoing soreness in his foot.

The Minneapolis Star-Tribune confirms that free agent Brandon Jones will work out for the Vikings on Friday.

Jones visited the Seahawks on Thursday, and he's also said to be drawing interest from Oakland and Tennessee. The 27-year-old had been battling a hamstring injury last week, but he offers veteran insurance for a teams with preseason questions at receiver.

In addition to the Seahawks, the Vikings, Raiders and Titans are also showing interest in free agent WR Brandon Jones.

This information is coming from Jones' agent, so we need to take it with a grain of salt as he tries to drum up interest. Still, it shows that other teams -- including his former team, the Titans, believe Jones could have an impact with a change of scenery.

Free agent WR Brandon Jones is visiting the Seahawks today.

The receiver-needy Seahawks have been linked to virtually every mediocre pass-catcher on the street, so this shouldn't come as a surprise. They'll kick the tires to see if Jones is healthy. Mike Williams is currently the Seahawks' No. 5 receiver.

49ers released WR Brandon Jones.

Two Februaries ago, the Scot McCloughan-led Niners guaranteed Jones $5.4 million on a five-year, $16.5 million contract. They got one reception for 18 yards in return. The move does "save" San Francisco from paying Jones' $2.145 million 2010 salary, but he was never going to get that money anyway. Injury prone throughout his career, Jones won't draw interest until he gets healthy. He missed nearly all of camp with a bum hamstring.

49ers WR Brandon Jones missed Sunday's game with a hamstring injury.

As predicted. Jones was oft-injured before signing a $16.5 million contract last offseason, and he's been just as brittle since. It's hard to see him making this team over the other fifth receiver candidates that offer special teams ability.

Brandon Jones is having a difficult time getting practice reps.

The 49ers seem content to give up on Jones, who was signed to a five-year, $16.5 million contract in 2009. It will be a surprise if Jones makes the team and releasing him would save the Niners more than $2 million in salary.

49ers beat writer Matt Maiocco confirms that Brandon Jones is "on the outside looking in" for a roster spot in San Francisco.

Maiocco believes Jones needs a "big-time training camp" just to make the final 53. Jones' release would save the Niners over $2 million in salary, so they're probably not sweating his inability to move up the depth chart.

Brandon Jones admitted that he is frustrated by the lack of reps he has gotten during offseason workouts.

Jones is working as the No. 3 flanker behind Josh Morgan and Jason Hill. In other words, he's buried on the depth chart. He's going to have to open some eyes in a hurry to make the final roster.

Brandon Jones is on the outside of the 49ers' roster looking in right now, projects beat writer Matt Maiocco.

Jones has been a major bust since signing a five-year, $16.5 million contract in 2009. He's fallen behind Jason Hill and is no longer the punt returner with Ted Ginn around.
Wed, Jun 2, 2010 10:56:00 AM

49ers beat writer Matt Maiocco says Brandon Jones will have to "earn his role on the team - and his salary for 2010 - with a solid offseason and training camp."

Jones did not earn his five-year, $16.5 million contract in 2009. He caught one pass all year and was barely active despite getting over his shoulder injury in the middle part of the season. Even if he wins the No. 3 receiver job, Jones won't be on the fantasy radar.
