Patriots released G/T Nick Kaczur.
The move saves $3.4 million in salary. Kaczur refused to accept a pay cut after missing all of the 2010 season with a bulging disc in his back that required surgery. He's 32 years old, so this may be the end of the line. The Pats will go forward with Logan Mankins and Dan Connolly as their starting guards. Fri, Jul 29, 2011 03:07:00 PM

According to the Boston Globe, Patriots G/T Nick Kaczur could be "on the chopping block as soon as free agency starts," whenever the lockout ends.

Kaczur rejected a pay cut from his $3.4 million salary early this offseason, and he's done in Foxboro after six years, the last of which was washed out by major back surgery. Kaczur turns 32 this July, and his career may be in doubt.

ESPN Boston's Mike Reiss doesn't think the Patriots should cut G/T Nick Kaczur.

Kaczur has been widely assumed as gone after he reportedly refused to renegotiate his $3.4 million 2011 salary, but Reiss thinks that unless the Pats don't think his balky back is healing up properly, he could be kept around as a "solid insurance policy." That would make sense, but isn't usually how things work in New England.

The Boston Herald believes T/G Nick Kaczur has played his last down for the Patriots after he reportedly objected to a "massive" pay-cut.

The Patriots weren't going to pay Kaczur's $3.4 million base salary after he missed last season following back surgery. With Sebastian Vollmer moving into the starting lineup, New England's O-Line actually improved in 2010. Without Kaczur, re-signing free agent LT Matt Light becomes more of a priority.

ESPN Boston confirms that Patriots G/T Nick Kaczur needed surgery to fix the bulging disc in his back.

Kaczur didn't play a preseason, regular season, or playoff snap in 2010 while trying to recover. The Pats gave up on him in October. Entering his age-32 season and due $3.4 million, Kaczur may be deemed too pricey to keep.

Patriots placed G/T Nick Kaczur (back) on injured reserve, ending his season.

Kaczur missed all of the preseason and the first four games of the regular season with a back injury. There have been reports that he's doing better, but evidently the Patriots decided they couldn't wait on him any longer. Deion Branch takes Kaczur's roster spot.

To quote Patriots head coach Bill Belichick, G/T Nick Kaczur (back) is "closer to being back than he was two months ago."

Kaczur was originally feared to be lost for the season after having surgery to repair a bulging disc. The Patriots' line has performed well, but expect Kaczur to step in as a starter when he returns. When that will be is anyone's guess.

Patriots coach Bill Belichick confirmed Monday that G/T Nick Kaczur (back) has essentially no timetable to return.

Kaczur had a bulging disc removed from the back, a procedure that will threaten his season. "I don't think he'll be available in the immediate future," said Belichick. "I'm not sure exactly how long that will or won't be."

Patriots OL Nick Kaczur has reportedly undergone surgery to repair a bulging disc in his back, putting his 2010 season in jeopardy.

He went down on the second day of training camp and never returned to practice. Those close to the situation believe that Kaczur, originally slated to fill in for Logan Mankins at left guard, will miss the entire season. Third-stringer Dan Connolly is filling in as the starter. There are no indications that the Mankins situation will thaw out any time soon.

Mike Reiss of ESPN Boston reports that Patriots OL Nick Kaczur is in danger of missing the 2010 season due to a back injury.

Kaczur's loss would be a particularly big blow to New England's front five because he recently moved to left guard, replacing holdout LG Logan Mankins. Kaczur started at tackle in each of his previous five seasons. Reiss calls Kaczur's initial diagnosis "grim." If he doesn't play in 2010, the Pats would be down to third-string left guard Dan Connolly, who has four career starts. They might want to start thinking about paying Mankins.

Usual RT Nick Kaczur was working as the Patriots' first-team left guard during spring practices.

With Logan Mankins looking more and more unlikely to be on the field come Week 1 due to his contract dispute, they are going to need someone to step up. Dan Connolly and Rich Ohrnberger are other options, but no matter who wins the job it's a major downgrade from Mankins.

Patriots RT Nick Kaczur left Sunday's game with a shoulder injury.

Kaczur has been a weak link on New England's offensive line all season, so his loss may not hurt much. His backup is versatile veteran Mark LeVoir.

Patriots RT Nick Kaczur's contract extension is actually a brand new four-year, $16 million deal.

Kaczur's 2009 salary actually drops from $2.27 million to $2 million, but he'll receive a $3.5 million option bonus and ascending salaries beginning at $2.7 million in 2010. It's a fair deal for both sides. Kaczur was a highly potent run blocker last season. He's now signed through age 34.

Patriots signed RT Nick Kaczur to an undisclosed contract extension.

Kaczur was due to make $2.27 million in the final year of his contract. The team will likely turn its attention to NT Vince Wilfork, who has been angling for an extension all offseason. Kaczur, 30, has started 29 games over the last two seasons. He is in no danger of losing his job this year.

According to the Boston Globe, the Patriots and RT Nick Kaczur are close to a contract extension.

Kaczur was scheduled to make $2.27 million this season, the final year of his contract. He's been with the Patriots for five seasons already and has started 49 games for the team. He's a solid but not spectacular NFL lineman that can play both right and left tackle.
