When asked about his NFL future, free agent T David Stewart said, "It’s going to take a lot to get me off the lake."
These comments confirm speculation that Stewart would seriously consider retirement after being cut by the Titans earlier this month. Stewart is not retiring officially yet and did leave open the possibility of return. It seems more likely he will hang them up. Stewart spent his entire career with the Titans, starting 116 games at right tackle over the last eight seasons. Fri, Mar 14, 2014 06:29:00 PM

Titans released RT David Stewart.

The move saves $6.4 million against the cap -- Stewart's scheduled base salary for 2014. It was expected as he'll turn 32 in August and is coming off two straight middling seasons. The Rams and Jeff Fisher may come calling, but there's rumors that Stewart will just retire.

The Nashville Tennessean "can't see a scenario" where the Titans bring back RT David Stewart.

NFL.com's Ian Rapoport agrees. Due $6.4 million in a "voidable year," Stewart has missed four games each of the past two seasons, and been average when on the field. He'll turn 32 in August.

The Nashville Tennessean reports the Titans may consider releasing RT David Stewart.

Stewart is out for Week 17 with a shoulder injury, and has been limited to 12 games by injury. Third-year pro Byron Stingily has been starting in Stewart's absence. Going on 32, Stewart is due $6.4 million in a "voidable year" next season. Stewart has graded out in the middle of the pack in Pro Football Focus' tackle ratings.

Titans RT David Stewart (calf) is active for Sunday's Week 1 game against the Steelers.

The calf Stewart strained during practice this week is good to go, meaning the Titans are very healthy heading into the opener. They'll dress just four receivers, a sign they're very confident in the health of Kenny Britt. The Titans' inactives: WR Michael Preston, WR Justin Hunter, LB Zaviar Gooden, C Brian Schwenke, T Byron Stingily, DE Kenyuta Dawson and DE LaVar Edward.

Titans RT David Stewart (calf) is expected to play in Sunday's season opener against the Steelers.

Stewart missed Friday's practice for the second straight day with a calf issue and is listed as questionable on the Week 1 injury report. Akeem Ayers (ankle) is also expected to play after returning to practice Wednesday. Zaviar Gooden (high-ankle sprain) has been ruled out, while starting fullback Quinn Johnson (quad) was placed on injured reserve.

Titans RT David Stewart is practicing fully in training camp after fracturing his right leg last December.

Stewart missed OTAs and minicamp, but avoided the PUP list to open camp. A mauler in the run game and efficient pass protector, Stewart is entering his age-31 season. He forms an impressive tackle duo opposite LT Michael Roos.

Titans RT David Stewart (broken leg) now says he probably won't be ready for May OTAs.

It doesn't sound like a setback for Stewart, just a precaution. He says he still has "a little bit to go" in his recovery. Stewart's lengthy recovery period could explain Tennessee's flirtation with free agent Eric Winston.

Titans RT David Stewart (broken leg) is expected to be ready for June's mandatory minicamp.

It's an upgrade on Stewart's previous prognosis, which had him ready for training camp. Due $6 million between salary and bonuses, Stewart remains locked into a starting job coming off a solid 2012.

Titans RT David Stewart is "still recovering" from the broken leg that ended his season in December, but is expected to be ready for training camp.

The injury cost Stewart the final four games of the season. Stewart is due $6 million between salary and bonuses, but played well enough in 2012 to be retained at that price.

Titans RT David Stewart is done for the season with a fractured right leg.

The injury occurred in Tennessee's Week 13 loss to Houston. Pro Football Focus has graded Stewart as a top-25 offensive tackle this season, and he book ends one of the Titans' few strengths opposite LT Michael Roos. Stewart is under contract relatively affordably in 2013 with a $5 million base salary and $1 million offseason roster bonus. Expect him to return as a starter.

Updating a previous item, Titans RT David Stewart suffered a fractured right leg in the first quarter of Sunday's game with the Texans and will miss the remainder of the season.

Stewart will likely be placed on season-ending injured reserve this upcoming week. Mike Otto will play right tackle for the season's final four-plus games. Stewart graded out as Pro Football Focus' eighth-best right tackle in the league through the first 11 games and excels as a pass blocker.

Titans RT David Stewart left Sunday's game against the Texans with a lower right leg injury and was carted off the field.

It didn't look good. A Houston defender dove at the back of Stewart's legs and his leg appeared to be broken, or he's dealing with an ankle injury. Trainers put a brace on his leg immediately. Mike Otto is in at right tackle.
Sun, Dec 2, 2012 01:18:00 PM

Titans RT David Stewart (calf) is expected to return to practice this week.

It's another boost for Chris Johnson. Although backup Mike Otto handled himself well, Stewart is considered one of the Titans' best run blockers. Johnson is a clear RB1 against the Bills' defense that yields 4.5 yards per carry on the season.
Wed, Nov 30, 2011 10:09:00 AM

Titans declared RT David Stewart (calf) inactive for Sunday's game against the Bucs.

Mike Otto draws the start at right tackle, downgrading Chris Johnson's chances of a quality day on the ground. Middle linebacker Barrett Ruud (groin) is also out, leading to another start for impressive rookie Colin McCarthy. The rest of the Titans' inactives: QB Rusty Smith, RB Jamie Harper, WR Donnie Avery, C/G Kevin Matthews and DT Zach Clayton.
