Free agent G/C Jason Brown is drawing interest from the Ravens and Titans in addition to the 49ers and Panthers.
Brown has visited San Francisco and Carolina, and "both teams want to sign him," per the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. The Ravens are the team with which Brown broke into the league in 2005. NFL Network's Jason La Canfora reported Friday that Baltimore has made Brown a "conservative, one-year offer." Fri, Apr 13, 2012 05:20:00 PM

Free agent G/C Jason Brown will reportedly visit the 49ers this weekend.

Brown's only other known visit was to Carolina, early in free agency. The 49ers have a need at right guard after losing Adam Snyder to Arizona and allowing Chilo Rachal to walk. Brown is being viewed as a guard after washing out at center last season.

Free agent G/C Jason Brown will reportedly visit the Panthers on Wednesday.

Brown would play guard if signed in Carolina, replacing Travelle Wharton and sending Garry Williams back to the bench. Brown has reportedly been contacted by four teams as of Tuesday evening.

Rams released G/C Jason Brown.

The move clears $2.8 million in cap space, and is likely just the beginning of what should be a total overhaul of the Rams' offensive line. Signed to a five-year, $37.5 million deal in 2009, Brown underperformed from the get-go, grading out as one of the league's worst centers by Pro Football Focus. He was even worse in 2010 before finally being benched in favor of Tony Wragge last November. A former Raven, he'd be a low-cost flier for Baltimore if it loses LG Ben Grubbs to free agency.

Rams C/G Jason Brown is a candidate for release this offseason.

The move would save $2.8 million under the salary cap. Less than three years into a five-year, $37.5 million contract, Brown was benched for journeyman Tony Wragge last November. Brown is due $5 million in base salary this year, with a prohibitive $7.2 million cap figure. The Rams are going to have to overhaul the O-Line for the second time in three seasons.

The Rams have benched C Jason Brown in favor of journeyman Tony Wragge.

Team sources tell the St. Louis Post-Dispatch that Brown was not benched for performance, "consistently" grading out as one of the team's top linemen. The Rams graded Brown as their second best blocker in last Sunday's loss to Arizona. It sounds like a mistake was made off the field. Wragge, 32, has not made an NFL start since 2008. He's sure to be a downgrade.

A Monday MRI revealed that Rams C Jason Brown has a "moderate" sprain of the MCL in his right knee.

Brown sprained the MCL in his right knee earlier this season as well, but didn't miss any time. The Rams believe he'll be able to practice this week.

Jason Brown suffered a right knee sprain in the second quarter Sunday and is questionable to return.

Mark Setterstrom is under center for the Rams. Brown, who also had knee issues earlier this season, was taken to the locker room for testing.

Though Rams C Jason Brown (sprained knee) is considered day-to-day, he's expected to practice on Wednesday.

Brown and rookie Jason Smith both suffered sprained knees in Sunday's game. Smith is officially considered doubtful for this week, but the Rams got good news on Brown. Adam Goldberg will fill in at right tackle for Smith.

Rams C Jason Brown left in the first quarter Sunday with a leg injury.

Brown walked off the field under his own power, and later returned. Redskins NT Albert Haynesworth would have had a field day had Mark Setterstrom been delivering snaps for the rest of the game.

The NFL has approved C Jason Brown's five-year, $37.5 million contract with St. Louis.

Brown now is officially a Ram, not that there was ever much doubt. The former Raven gives St. Louis a much more imposing presence inside than incumbent starter Brett Romberg, who's 6'2/298. Brown is listed at 6'3/320.

The NFL has reportedly disapproved C Jason Brown's five-year, $37.5 million contract with the Rams.

Brown's agents are trying to fix the issue, which stems from a fifth-year "buy back" clause. Brown probably won't want to reenter the market with teams already having spent big chunks of cap room, so expect a quick resolution.

Jason Brown's five-year, $37.5 million contract can void to a four-year, $29 million contract if certain incentives are reached.

It allows Brown to reenter the free agent market at age 29 and potentially grab one more huge multi-year contract. Brown needs to play well, stay healthy, and have the Rams play well to active the voidable season, so it should keep him motivated. Brown also received an $11M signing bonus.

Rams signed C Jason Brown to a five-year, $37.5 million contract.

Our number two overall free agent, Brown will play center for the Rams. If you are going to spend big money in free agency, you should do it with a young, ascending talent like Brown. The 320-pound 25-year-old is going to help Steven Jackson and a leaky Rams offensive line plenty.

The Baltimore Sun confirms earlier reports that C/G Jason Brown has "agreed in principle" with the Rams on five-year, $37.5 million contract.

The deal includes $20 million in guarantees and averages $7.5 million per season, which is believed to be $1.5 million per year more than the Ravens were willing to pay.
