Lions OLs Dylan Gandy, Bill Nagy, and Rodney Austin are tentatively expected to compete for the starting right guard job.

Gandy, an eight-year veteran, is the most experienced of the trio, having appeared in 105 career games and starting 19. Nagy and Austin have combined to play in four career games. Offensive line and defensive end are Detroit's top two needs heading into the draft.

Lions re-signed G/C Dylan Gandy to one-year contract.

Gandy, a nine-year veteran, played in all 16 games last season, mainly on special teams. He'll resume his backup duties on the interior offensive line.

Lions agreed to terms with OG Dylan Gandy on a two-year contract.

Gandy returns to the Lions as a backup for the interior of the line. He's clearly not insurance for LT Jeff Backus' pectoral woes.

The inside swingman played offensive snaps in just three games last season. He's a five-year veteran, so it's no lock that he'll return to Detroit for 2011.

Gandy was an emergency starter in five games last season, but he'll head back to an interior swing role this year with Rob Sims now on board.

The Lions have extended an original pick restricted free agent tender to G/C Dylan Gandy.

Gandy is undersized at 6'3/290 and hadn't started a game until 2009 after five years in the league, but the Lions must have thought he held up well. Gandy will be safe from offer sheet interest as a former fourth-round pick.

Dylan Gandy is expected to receive his first career start at right guard Sunday.

Detroit will start its sixth different offensive line combination this week, with Stephen Peterman (injured reserve, ankle) and Daniel Loper (back) out. The loss of Peterman, the team's only quality run blocker, has killed Kevin Smith's production of late.

Owner Al Davis considered Gandy the "53rd guy" on the roster, even though it should be Sam Williams. Gandy could return to Oakland at a later date.

Gandy is an athletic lineman with the skills to be a versatile backup in the zone-blocking scheme. He's basically on a tryout for the next five weeks.

Gandy is young, has starting experience, and can move, so he's a good pickup for the Broncos' scheme. Snell formerly played in NFL Europa.
