Lions released CB Eric King.
The move takes Detroit off the hook for his $640K salary. King, 29 in May, was a late-season signee after injuries hit the Lions' secondary down the stretch. He's a mostly ineffective slot corner with some special teams value. Thu, Feb 10, 2011 11:49:00 AM

Lions claimed CB Eric King off waivers from the Browns.

King was one of the Lions' final cuts during preseason. He played sparingly with the Browns and is unlikely to have a bigger role in Detroit, but he's a good special teams player.

Browns waived CB Eric King.

King has played just one snap in each of the past two weeks since being signed in mid-November. He'll be replaced by Coye Francies.

Browns agreed to terms with CB Eric King, formerly of the Lions.

The Browns chose King over Jonathan Wade, also recently released by the Lions. RCB Sheldon Brown's status is in question this week after he took a helmet-to-helmet hit in Week 10.

The NFL revealed that Lions CB Eric King was suspended for Week 17 for an "alcohol-related violation of law."

King was already on injured reserve, so he was going to miss the game anyway. However, he forfeited a game check of $142,857. King lasted only five weeks in '09, finishing with seven tackles as Detroit's oft-burned nickel back.

Lions placed CB Eric King (shoulder) on injured reserve, ending his season.

King came over with coach Jim Schwartz from Tennessee this offseason hoping to prove he could be more than a special teamer. But the 27-year-old was a liability in coverage and made no big plays. He is signed through 2010.

Lions coach Jim Schwartz revealed Monday that the shoulder injury CB Eric King suffered in Week 5 was "significant."

Backup safety/special teamer Kalvin Pearson will move into the nickel back role indefinitely. King was not playing well, so his loss won't change the Lions' fortunes in the secondary. They'll be burned by the pass all year.

Lions signed CB Eric King to a two-year contract.

Teams coming off 0-16 seasons don't get to make big splashes in free agency, so the Lions will take what they can get. King's season has ended early two years in a row due to a broken forearm, but he has done a nice job as the Titans' dime back when healthy. His relationship with coach Jim Schwartz will help him nail down nickel back duties.

Titans placed CB Eric King (broken forearm) on injured reserve, ending his season.

King has had two seasons in a row end early due to the same injury. He had been used in dime situations mostly, but is a valuable player and Tennessee will likely look to bring him back. King is eligible for free agency in 2009.

Titans CB Eric King underwent surgery to repair a broken forearm Thursday.

The club might place King on season-ending injured reserve, but hasn't made the move yet. Nickel back Vincent Fuller will play more in the meantime.

Titans coach Jeff Fisher revealed Monday that CB Eric King fractured his forearm in Week 11 against the Jaguars.

King did the same in Week 16 of 2007. He is seeking a second opinion to see if he can avoid surgery. King is a sub-package defender for Tennessee.

Titans CB Eric King fractured his forearm in Week 16.

He won't play again until next season. King, a smallish former fifth-round pick from Wake Forest, saw most of his action in dime situations and on special teams. He'll return to battle for a roster spot in 2008 training camp.

Bills signed cornerback Eric King, a fifth-round pick, to an undisclosed contract.

King, a two-time ACC first team selection, started 42 of 46 games during a four-year career at Wake Forest. The Bills still have two unsigned rookies a day before camp.
