Will Heller has been dealing with back spasms throughout the spring.

With Tony Scheffler now in the mix and Brandon Pettigrew's ACL rehab reportedly on track, Heller's role will be very minimal this season.

Lions re-signed TE Will Heller to a three-year contract.

Heller, 29, set career highs in catches (29), receiving yards (296), and TDs (3) last season, though his primary role is run blocking. Assuming Brandon Pettigrew's ACL rehab goes as hoped, Heller's numbers should decline sharply in 2010. Pettigrew is the team's every-down tight end of the future.

The agent for free agent tight end Will Heller believes his client will get a new deal from the Lions.

Heller caught 29 passes for 296 yards with three touchdowns last season, his first in Detroit. His chances of coming back are heightened because Brandon Pettigrew is recovering from ACL surgery.

Lions signed TE Will Heller, formerly of the Seahawks.

Heller, 28, caught four passes for Seattle last year and lost his starting job to rookie John Carlson. He'll focus on blocking if he makes the Lions.

Will Heller is expected to return in Week 10 after missing three games with a knee injury.

Heller will probably split time with John Carlson and doesn't figure to be a fantasy contributor.

TE Will Heller has a strained knee ligament that will keep him out of Sunday's game at Tampa Bay.

Heller is the backup tight end in Seattle. It's not known when he will again be available.

Operating as a starter, TE Will Heller caught one pass for 10 yards in the Seahawks' preseason opener Friday night.

Second-round pick John Carlson came in late, but caught two balls for 21 yards. Jeb Putzier's only grab went for a 15-yard touchdown. It will be an upset if Carlson isn't starting in Seattle's regular season opener at Buffalo.

Seahawks TE Will Heller caught three passes for five yards and a touchdown in Week 10.

The touchdown was Heller's third in three games. Marcus Pollard (2-19) was active for the game, but Heller was still targeted twice deep in the red zone. Neither one is a great fantasy option going forward.

Seahawks TE Will Heller caught three passes for 18 yards and two touchdowns in Seattle's Week 7 victory over St. Louis.

Heller started because Marcus Pollard (knee) was scratched, and caught his first touchdown on the goal line. His second came from 11 yards away. Heller is mostly a blocker and a backup, so he's not a good fantasy pickup.

Seahawks re-signed TE Will Heller to a two-year, $1.8 million contract. The deal paid Heller $300,000 to sign.

Heller caught four passes, one for a score, in 2006, his first season in Seattle. He'll continue to be a back up for a starter to be determined.

Will Heller is expected to be the Seahawks' starting TE in Week 3.

ESPN's John Clayton reports Seattle will use more three- and four-wide receiver sets to atone for the likely loss of Itula Mili (knee) at least for this week. Heller shouldn't be used in fantasy leagues, but the multiple-wideout sets bodes well for Matt Hasselbeck against the Giants Sunday.
