Free agent Bo Scaife "struggled with conditioning" during Patriots practices.
The Patriots signed Scaife back on June 7, but he lasted just 11 days on the roster. Showing up out of shape is a sure way to land on coach Bill Belichick's bad side. Scaife is no lock to get back in the NFL. Wed, Jun 20, 2012 08:44:00 AM

Patriots released TE Bo Scaife and OT Mike Ingersoll.

Scaife only lasted 11 days on the roster after being signed off the street on June 7. It's probably not a good sign for his future in the league. Ingersoll is a practice squad-type tackle who previously spent time with the Bucs.

Patriots signed TE Bo Scaife.

Scaife is a poor blocker and doesn't have much playmaking ability left at age 31, so it's a curious signing. The Patriots are obviously loaded at tight end with Rob Gronkowski, Aaron Hernandez and blocker Daniel Fells. Scaife isn't a lock to stick on the roster once Gronk and Fells get healthy.

Patriots worked out free agent TE Bo Scaife.

On the heels of their Dallas Clark tryout, it suggests the Pats are simply performing due diligence in case of an injury to their own tight ends. Scaife spent the 2011 season on injured reserve after signing with the Bengals in August.

Bengals placed TE Bo Scaife (shoulder) on injured reserve, ending his season.

The second opinion on Scaife's shoulder must have come back the same as the first. He was running as Cincinnati's No. 2 tight end behind Jermaine Gresham before going down. Scaife will turn 31 in January, and may have a hard time finding a job next offseason.

Bo Scaife is seeing specialists about the shoulder he injured in the third preseason game.

Previous reports suggested that Scaife may be headed to IR. He's likely getting a second opinion to try to avoid a season-ending procedure.

Geoff Hobson of Bengals.com is "hearing" that TE Bo Scaife is headed for injured reserve with a shoulder injury.

Scaife, signed just three weeks ago, went down in Cincinnati's third preseason game Thursday night. He had been running as Jermaine Gresham's top backup.

Bengals signed TE Bo Scaife, formerly of the Titans.

Scaife, 30, caught 36 passes for 318 yards and four touchdowns last year. He hasn't topped 10 yards per reception since the 2006 season, and according to Pro Football Focus is an atrocious pass blocker. We suppose Scaife offers more experience than Chase Coffman, but the younger, cheaper player would make more sense to keep. Scaife has no chance at fantasy value in Cincy.

The Rams and Bengals have reportedly lined up free agent visits with TE Bo Scaife.

Scaife hadn't drawn a whiff of free agent interest until this point. He could be a third-stringer in St. Louis behind Lance Kendricks and Michael Hoomanawanui, or a backup to Jermaine Gresham in Cincinnati. Scaife lacks any hint of playmaking ability as a receiver, however, and is also a poor blocker.

Beat writer Jim Wyatt confirms that impending free agent Bo Scaife won't be back with the Titans.

It's one year too late for the Titans, who should have let Scaife walk a year ago. After Jared Cook racked up 15 catches for 196 yards and a touchdown over the final three weeks, it's clear the Titans have their tight end of the future. Cook will be a hot sleeper in fantasy circles next season.

Impending free agent Bo Scaife does not expect to return to the Titans in 2011.

Scaife has been overpaid as the Titans' franchise player for two years running. The team signaled its intention to turn the page when they declared him inactive as a healthy scratch in Week 15. Jared Cook is the favorite to end 2011 as the receiving tight end with Craig Stevens as a blocking specialist.

Coach Jeff Fisher expects Bo Scaife to be active this week after he was a healthy scratch in Week 15.

It doesn't mean Scaife will have a significant role, however, as Jared Cook has passed him on the depth chart. Cook is only a TE2 option this week, and a poor one at that.

Titans coach Jeff Fisher said Bo Scaife's gameday status will be a "week-to-week" thing.

Scaife was a healthy inactive Sunday despite coming off 11 straight starts and the first multi-touchdown game of his career. "I don't know," Fisher said of Scaife's status. "I'm going to obviously try to work out a creative situation where he can come back and help us." The coach added that he wants to get more playing time for Jared Cook, who had three catches for 42 yards against the Texans.

Titans coach Jeff Fisher attributed Bo Scaife's healthy scratch in Week 15 to needing more defensive linemen on the game-day roster.

"We absolutely had to come into this game with eight (defensive linemen) because of injuries and that was the logical place to go," said Fisher. We're not buying it. Scaife has been an outspoken supporter of Vince Young, his college teammate, and Fisher obviously has beef with V.Y. The Titans could've just as easily scratched Jared Cook or Craig Stevens if they needed to replace a tight end with a defensive lineman.

Titans TE Bo Scaife is a healthy scratch for the team's Week 15 matchup against Houston.

It's the moment Titans fans have been waiting for all season. Fantasy owners of Scaife in two tight end leagues should pick up Jared Cook, who stands to see increased looks, though blocking TE Craig Stevens is listed as the starter. It's a sign that Jeff Fisher isn't scared to give his younger players a look, so WR Damian Williams could also be in line for an increased role. Third QB Rusty Smith, WR Lavelle Hawkins, T Troy Kropog, DT Sen'Derrick Marks, LB David Thornton, S Robert Johnson, S Vincent Fuller round out the team's inactives.
