Patriots signed OT Will Svitek, formerly of the Falcons.
In the league since 2005, Svitek missed all of 2012 with an upper-arm injury, but was the Falcons' swing tackle in 2010-11. He started 10 games in place of Sam Baker at left tackle in 2011. Svitek provides cheap, veteran insurance for a team that's been in a holding pattern with free agent RT Sebastian Vollmer. Svitek may compete with Marcus Cannon for "swing" duties in Pats camp. Falcons OT Will Svitek is done for the season with an upper-arm injury.

The Falcons' swing tackle, Svitek appeared in all 16 games last season, and made 10 starts in place of LT Sam Baker, who missed four games with injury. It's a blow for the Falcons' on-the-rise passing attack, but shouldn't be a major issue if Baker can stay on the field. Baker started all 16 games in 2010.

Will Svitek started at left tackle Sunday even though Sam Baker (back) was active.

Svitek appears to have "pipped" Baker, who started the first six games of the year at left tackle. "Will has been in there and has played well. In our minds, he gave us the best opportunity to win this week," said coach Mike Smith. Svitek hasn't allowed a sack in any of the last five games despite facing the likes of Dwight Freeney, Kyle Vanden Bosch, Will Smith, Jason Jones and Jared Allen.

The Prague native saw action in all 16 games last season as a reserve lineman and special teamer. He'll return in the same role for 2011.

Falcons signed OT Will Svitek.

Svitek is a native of Prague, Czech Republic. He offers good size (6'6/300) and some spot starting experience, but is unlikely to make any kind of impact in Atlanta. Svitek couldn't even make the Chiefs last year.

Chiefs placed T Will Svitek on injured reserve, ending his season.

A sixth-round pick in 2005, the Czech Republic native appeared in two games this season before injuring his knee. It's unknown whether Svitek will require surgery. Casey Printers will take his spot on the roster.

Chiefs declared QB Trent Green, CB Benny Sapp, RB Derrick Ross, FB Greg Hanoian, LB Rich Scanlon, G Tre Stallings, C Rudy Niswanger, and T Will Svitek inactive for Week 7.

Ross is fourth on the depth chart behind Michael Bennett and Dee Brown. Green is a few weeks away from playing.

Chiefs tackles Will Svitek (knee) and Kyle Turley (back) are both questionable for Week 5.

Kansas City is dangerously thin on the offensive line. It will catch up their offense eventually.

The Chiefs have apparently inserted T Will Svitek into the starting lineup at right tackle over Kelvin Sampson.

While it's not a good sign the Chiefs are shuffling their starters in late August, some change is probably necessary. The unit has struggled this month.
