Lions agreed to terms with DT C.J. Mosley, formerly of the Jaguars, on a two-year, $2.75 million contract.
He signs just two days after being cut by the Jaguars. Mosley overtook Terrance Knighton on the depth chart last season, but was viewed as a poor fit for new coach Gus Bradley's system. A pure run-stopper, Mosley should see somewhere in the neighborhood of 500 snaps behind Ndamukong Suh and Nick Fairley. Wed, Apr 3, 2013 03:49:00 PM

Free agent DT C.J. Mosley is "expected" to sign with the Lions.

Free agent DT C.J. Mosley is visiting the Lions on Tuesday.

Mosley was released by the Jaguars on Monday. Highly productive against the run last season, Mosley would provide depth behind Ndamukong Suh and Nick Fairley in Detroit.

Jaguars released DT C.J. Mosley.

The move frees up $2.475 million in salary, but saves less than $500,000 versus the salary cap. Mosley was cut because the new Jaguars regime isn't high on his scheme fit under Gus Bradley; he wasn't a salary cap casualty. Mosley, 29, racked up 45 tackles and 2.5 sacks last season, playing for Mel Tucker. Tucker is now the defensive coordinator in Chicago.

Jaguars DT C.J. Mosley has passed Terrance Knighton on the depth chart.

Knighton missed three months after a nightclub brawl left him needing eye surgery. Mosley used that chance to seize the starting job and he hasn't looked back. Look for Knighton to rotate in behind Tyson Alualu and Mosley.

Jaguars re-signed DT C.J. Mosley to three-year, $7.5 million contract.

The deal includes $2 million guaranteed, and has incentives that could push its total value to $10 million. Mosley made just three starts and played 323 snaps last season, but was one of the top run stuffers for the league's ninth-ranked run defense.

Jaguars signed DL C.J. Mosley, formerly of the Browns.

Mosley, 27, has extensive starting experience, mostly in the 3-4 defense of Cleveland. He's played in a 4-3 system like Jaguars', though not since 2006 when he was a backup with Minnesota. He'll play tackle in Jacksonville.

Browns released DL C.J. Mosley.

Mosley, another one of coach Eric Mangini's imports from the Jets, was signed to a two-year, $5 million contract last year. He closed out the 2009 season with a broken ankle after recording 18 tackles in 12 games.

Browns placed DL C.J. Mosley on injured reserve with a broken ankle, ending his season.

He finishes with 18 tackles in 12 appearances. Mosley, 26, is signed through 2010 and will likely return as an oft-used reserve pending smooth recovery. He had taken over as a starter of late with Kenyon Coleman (knee) sidelined.

Browns DE C.J. Mosley was reportedly overheard telling teammates after Sunday's loss that he broke his ankle.

Mosley, who started in place of Kenyon Coleman, injured his right ankle against San Diego and was spotted on crutches in the locker room afterwards. The Browns' front seven, already lacking talent, has no prayer of defending the run after losing Coleman, Mosley, and Pro Bowl NT Shaun Rogers.

Browns DE C.J. Mosley left Sunday's game with a right ankle injury and did not return.

Browns signed DL C.J. Mosley to a two-year contract worth roughly $5 million.

Mosley was a backup 3-4 defensive end for Eric Mangini in New York, and he figures to have the same role with the Browns. Mosley's signing could seal the fate of Shaun Smith, who has been mentioned as a possible cap casualty.

Free agent DL C.J. Mosley is in town to visit the Browns Wednesday.

Jacksonville let him leave without a contract. Mosley played for new Browns coach Eric Mangini with the Jets. He'd likely be a backup in Cleveland.

The Jaguars plan to host free agent DL C.J. Mosley on Monday.

Mosley (6'2/312) has been a backup 3-4 defensive end for the Jets since 2006. He would kick inside to defensive tackle in Jack Del Rio's 4-3 system.

Jets acquired DT C.J. Mosley and an undisclosed draft pick from the Vikings in exchange for QB Brooks Bollinger.

New York is desperately in need of line help. As a sixth-round rookie last year, Mosley recorded 19 tackles and three sacks. He could play the nose or kick outside to defensive end.
