The Texans have reached out to free agent C Chris Myers.
Myers, 34 in September, was released in a salary-cap move by the Texans in March. He's visited just one known team since then, taking a trip to Seattle. Myers is reportedly "considering multiple options" before making a decision. Jun 8 - 10:31 PM

Free agent C Chris Myers is visiting the Seahawks on Monday.

It's Myers' first-known visit since he was cut loose by the Texans one week before free agency. The Seahawks have a hole at the pivot after dealing Max Unger to New Orleans. Having made 128 straight starts, Myers remained serviceable in 2014.

The Broncos have turned their attention to free agent C Chris Myers.

Myers was thought to be on Oakland's radar but with the Rodney Hudson signing, he's no longer needed. The pass-heavy Broncos are hoping for a more balanced attack under new coach Gary Kubiak. That makes Myers a perfect fit given his run-blocking expertise and long history with Kubiak.

FOX Sports' Alex Marvez reports the Raiders are interested in free agent C Chris Myers.

Stefen Wisniewski appears poised to walk in free agency, and Myers would be a readymade veteran replacement. Going on 34, Myers was a liability as a pass blocker last season, but held firm against the run. He'd come cheap.
Mar 5 - 1:45 PM

Texans released C Chris Myers.

Myers has been the Texans' center the past seven seasons and never missed a start. Due $6 million in the final year of his contract and scheduled to count $8 million against the cap, it was a logical move to move on from the 33-year-old. Myers was a top-three run-blocking center at Pro Football Focus this past season, but finished 33rd out of 41 as a pass blocker. Myers may resurface in Denver with old pal Gary Kubiak. At 286 pounds, he's built for a zone-blocking scheme.
Mar 4 - 2:24 PM

Texans re-signed C Chris Myers to a four-year, $25 million contract.

Per Yahoo's Jason Cole, the deal includes $14 million guaranteed. Myers finished as the No. 1 center in Pro Football Focus' 2011 rankings, and helped anchor one of the league's best run-blocking units. Despite visits with several teams, Myers' preference was to return to Houston throughout free agency. As the premier zone-blocking center in the game today, Myers' return is good news for the fantasy values of Arian Foster and Ben Tate.

Free agent C Chris Myers will visit the Titans on Thursday.

Profootballtalk.com reported Tuesday the sides were "in talks." He's also reportedly remained in contact with the Texans.

Free agent C Chris Myers is "in talks" with the Titans and Texans, according to Profootballtalk.

The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel hears the Titans have also shown interested in free agent center Scott Wells, a sign that the team is serious about improving at the pivot. Myers' preference is to return to Houston, so the Titans will have to come strong.

Amid rumors of the Packers' interest in him, free agent C Chris Myers told 610 Sports Radio in Houston that he wants to re-sign with the Texans.

"I want to be here," he emphasized. "I want to see things through, and that’s the way it is. So that’s kind of the bottom line of my thinking." Myers has been a Texan since 2008. He has 80 straight starts and was a Pro Bowler in 2011.

The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reports the Packers discussed free agent C Chris Myers with his representatives "in one of the technically illegal but nonetheless widespread meetings" at the Combine.

The Journal-Sentinel's venerable NFL writer, Bob McGinn, insists nearly every re-signing and free agent signing in March "germinates" from the "supposedly illegal club-agent meetings in Indy." Pro Football Focus' top-rated 2011 center, Myers makes sense for Green Bay as a replacement for fellow under-sized zone-blocker Scott Wells. It's conceivable that Packers officials leaked the Myers talks to goad Wells into lowering his reported $7.5 million asking price.

Free agent C Chris Myers hopes to re-sign with the Texans.

Myers earned his first Pro Bowl invitation in 2011, and graded out as Pro Football Focus' top center. Reliable beat writer John McClain recently reported the Texans wouldn't "break the bank" to keep him, however. A zone-blocking specialist, Myers hasn't missed a start since 2006. He'll turn 31 in September.

The Texans "won't break the bank" to keep free agents C Chris Myers, RG Mike Brisiel, TE Joel Dreessen, and K Neil Rackers, according to the Houston Chronicle.

That doesn't mean the Texans won't make every effort to retain the foursome, but they're already up against the salary cap with Mario Williams and Arian Foster as the top priorities. Myers was arguably the top center in the NFL in 2011, though he's a purely a fit for zone-blocking teams.

Texans C Chris Myers and DE Antonio Smith have been added to the AFC's Pro Bowl roster as injury replacements.

Myers replaced Maurkice Pouncey, and Smith replaces Patriots DE Andre Carter. It's just as well. Myers outplayed Pouncey all season, finishing as Pro Football Focus' top-rated center as the pivot for one of the league's most dominant ground attacks. Smith was outstanding against the run in Wade Phillips' 3-4 scheme.

Texans C Chris Myers underwent arthroscopic surgery on his left elbow in late January.

Myers' rehab took just a few weeks, so he's already "fine." For a veteran interior lineman, elbow scopes are common badges of honor from getting jammed in the trenches.

Chris Myers could solidify his spot as the starting center with a strong performance in Saturday's preseason matchup against the Cowboys.

Wade Smith, who is listed as the No. 2 center on the team's depth chart, is starting the contest at left guard. Look for both to enter the season as starters.
