Impending free agent CB Chris Carr is contemplating retirement.

Carr spent most of the season in San Diego as a reserve slot corner and special teamer. He turns only 30 in April, but reportedly wants to go to law school and has aspirations of the U.S. Senate. Carr has spent eight years in the NFL.

Chargers signed CB Chris Carr, formerly of the Vikings.

28-year-old Carr has experience covering the slot, where San Diego has struggled with second-year slot corner Marcus Gilchrist. Also offering a background on special teams, Carr will slide in as the Chargers' No. 4 corner for now.

Free agent CB Chris Carr will work out for the Jets this week.

Carr had previously worked out for the Chiefs, Seahawks, Chargers and Patriots. The Jets are on the hunt for a veteran corner with Darrelle Revis out for the season.

Free agent CB Chris Carr will work out for the Chargers this week.

It's a sign that nickel corner Shareece Wright (ankle) isn't close to returning. Carr has also met with the Chiefs and Seahawks since the Vikings cut him before Week 1.

Free agent CB Chris Carr worked out for the Chiefs and Seahawks.

The eight-year veteran was cut loose by the Vikings on Friday. Carr is capable of manning both the outside and slot, but had a rough 2011 for the Ravens.

Vikings signed CB Chris Carr, formerly of the Ravens.

Carr, 29, excelled as a slot and left cornerback in 2010 with Baltimore before a rough 2011 season marred by injuries. Best suited as a nickel corner and special teamer, Carr will compete for a role in sub-packages with Minnesota.

The St. Paul Pioneer Press reports the Vikings are still "very much in the mix" for free agent CB Chris Carr after signing CB Zackary Bowman Monday.

Bowman signed a non-guaranteed, one-year deal believed to be worth the league minimum, so it's not surprising the Vikings are still after Carr. He is also drawing interest from the Chiefs. Carr would likely be ahead of Bowman on the depth chart if he landed in Minnesota.

Free agent CB Chris Carr will visit the Chiefs and Vikings.

Both teams were connected to top corners early in free agency, only to strike out. A competent starter with the Ravens two years ago, Carr would play in nickel and dime packages in either city.

Ravens released CB Chris Carr.

Baltimore's top corner during an injury-ravaged 2010 season, Carr had tumbled to fourth on the depth chart as a healthy scratch during the playoffs. Turning 29 in April, Carr was set to receive $2.5 million in 2012. He'll have a hard time landing anything close to that kind of money on the open market.

According to the Baltimore Sun, the "expectation remains" that both CB Chris Carr and CB Domonique Foxworth have played their final down for the Ravens.

A healthy scratch for the Divisional Round of the playoffs, Carr is due $2.5 million after tumbling down the depth chart, while Foxworth is due a prohibitive $5.6 million. Knee issues limited Foxworth to just two games the past two seasons.

The Carroll County Times expects Ravens CB Chris Carr to be active for the AFC Championship Game after being a healthy scratch for the Divisional Round.

The Ravens need all hands on deck against the Patriots, but Carr will still be no better than fourth on the depth chart. Passed by rookie Jimmy Smith, Carr graded out negatively in coverage by Pro Football Focus this season.

The Sideline View's Adam Caplan confirms that CB Chris Carr is a healthy scratch for the Divisional round.

Carr needs to be worried about his employment because he's due a $2.5 million salary in 2012. He's been passed on the depth chart by rookie Jimmy Smith and usual special teamer Danny Gorrer behind Lardarius Webb and Cary Williams.

Ravens CB Chris Carr aggravated his left hamstring injury in practice this week and is "highly questionable" for Sunday night's game.

Carr has played well as Baltimore's slot corner, so this doesn't help a Ravens secondary that just lost Domonique Foxworth to I.R. and has Jimmy Smith out indefinitely with a high ankle sprain. Look for Baltimore's top three corners to be Cary Williams, Lardarius Webb, and Danny Gorrer against the Jets.

Ravens CB Chris Carr (hamstring) has resumed practicing this week.

Carr "fully expects" to play against the Rams after sitting out Week 2. With Domonique Foxworth battling knee pain, Carr will be needed as the Ravens' nickel corner this week.
