Raiders KR/WR Josh Cribbs (meniscus surgery) will be sidelined until training camp.
There had been some confusion over when Cribbs would be ready to resume football activities after Jets GM John Idzik said his knee "wasn't quite there yet." Cribbs initially refuted the claim, but Coach Dennis Allen cleared it up today, stating his kick returner won't practice until training camp. Cribbs will be the Raiders' primary return man once the season starts. Jun 11 - 6:17 PM

New Raiders KR Josh Cribbs (meniscus surgery) says he'll be ready "when it’s time to play football."

Cribbs called Jets GM John Idzik's observation that his knee "(wasn't) quite there yet" a "negotiation tactic" before admitting he might not be ready to practice for over a month. Regardless, Cribbs should be ready well in advance of Week 1, and is slotted in as the Raiders' primary return man.

Raiders agreed to terms with WR/KR Josh Cribbs, formerly of the Browns, on a one-year contract.

Jets GM John Idzik said just yesterday that Cribbs' knee wasn't yet up to snuff coming off meniscus surgery, but the Raiders decided they couldn't wait to sign the return specialist. Going on 30, Cribbs has taken a number of thundering hits over the years, but remained one of the league's best return men last season. Cribbs should see little, if any, time on offense. He's surpassed 200 yards receiving only twice in his eight-year career.

Jets GM John Idzik says free agent Josh Cribbs' knee "isn't quite there yet."

The Jets are one of four teams to work Cribbs out and give him a physical in the past week. The fact that Cribbs' knee is still holding up a signing two months after it caused the Cardinals to pass on him isn't exactly a promising sign for his 2013. Cribbs could continue to linger on the open market indefinitely.

Free agent KR Josh Cribbs plans to sign with a team in "a couple days."

Cribbs also said the Lions are "high" on his list. The 30-year-old career special teamer is deciding between Detroit, Oakland, the Giants, and the Jets.

Profootballtalk reports free agent Josh Cribbs is deciding between the Lions, Raiders, Giants and Jets.

Cribbs is in the Motor City on Monday after visiting Oakland and both New York teams last week. He'll be signed for his special-teams prowess, not his receiving ability.

Free agent Josh Cribbs will visit the Lions.

Cribbs, now healthy, has already visited the Raiders, Jets, and Giants this week. The Lions are looking for a return man now that Stefan Logan hasn't been re-signed. Cribbs wouldn't see many snaps as a receiver in Detroit.

Free agent Josh Cribbs will visit the Giants.

Last year, the Giants used David Wilson to return kicks and Rueben Randle to bring back punts. With both players in line for more responsibility offensively, bringing in a return specialist makes sense. Cribbs already visited the Raiders and Jets this week.

Updating a previous item, free agent KR/WR Josh Cribbs visited the Jets on Wednesday and left without a contract.

Per beat writer Manish Mehta the two sides "discussed parameters of a deal," but there was no "formal offer" from the Jets. Cribbs will continue his tour now that his knee is healthy, but it's uncertain where he'll visit next.

Free agent Josh Cribbs will visit the Jets.

Cribbs visited the Raiders on Monday, leaving with a contract offer but not a deal. He'd be a bit of an odd fit in New York, as the Jets already have capable return men in Joe McKnight and Jeremy Kerley. Cribbs would imperil McKnight's roster spot if signed, and allow Kerley to focus on receiving.
May 8 - 7:52 PM

NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reports Josh Cribbs (knee) passed a physical during his Raiders visit, and was offered a contract.

Cribbs didn't sign, and is supposedly drawing interest from three other teams. Cribbs almost signed with Arizona in March, but talks stalled due to concerns about his knee. The Cardinals have since moved on after loading up on potential return specialists in the draft. We'll find out how much interest Cribbs is truly generating over the next 48 hours.

Free agent Josh Cribbs visited the Raiders on Wednesday.

Per USA Today's Mike Garofolo, Cribbs has other visits "lined up." Cribbs visited the Cardinals in March, but wasn't healthy enough to sign as he recovered from meniscus surgery. After failing over and over again as a receiver, Cribbs would likely be signed as a return specialist in Oakland.

Free agent KR Josh Cribbs (knee) is reportedly healthy.

Cribbs missed a chance to sign on in Arizona because of meniscus surgery. According to the Plain-Dealer, he has now has "several" teams interested. Previous speculation had the Lions and Bucs as potential landing spots. Last year, Cribbs ranked sixth in punt-return average (12.0 yards per return) and tied for fourth in kick returns (27.4 yards).
May 8 - 9:54 AM

ESPN's Jamison Hensley considers the Lions and Buccaneers two "potential destinations" for free agent Josh Cribbs.

Hensley doesn't appear to have inside information here and is speculating. The Lions didn't re-sign KR Stefan Logan, while the Bucs inquired about Leon Washington before he signed with New England. Cribbs is still a highly effective return specialist. His market has been dead because he has a bad knee.

May 6 - 2:05 PM

Cardinals GM Steve Keim hinted that the team is no longer interested in free agent Josh Cribbs.

The Cardinals passed on Cribbs last month due to concerns over his knee. Now that they've added a return man in LSU's Tyrann Mathieu, there's not a real role for the ex-Brown. New England was another possible landing spot for Cribbs that dried up when they signed Leon Washington.
