According to the Denver Post, "most in the league" believe ex-Broncos and Colts DL Darrell Reid's career is over due to a serious left knee injury.
It's not surprising, since Reid was released last September and drew no interest all season. He suffered "extensive" cartilage damage in the knee, and essentially had a microfracture-type procedure in February of 2010. If Reid is done, the 29-year-old finishes his career with 6.5 sacks in 71 games. Thu, Apr 14, 2011 11:09:00 AM

Broncos released OLB/DE Darrell Reid.

Reid was among Denver's best special teams players, but was sidelined after undergoing a serious left knee operation in February. The Broncos chose to cut Reid instead of placing him on the PUP, saving $1.73 million. Reid's full 2010 salary would have been guaranteed had he been placed on the list.

Broncos OLB/DE Darrell Reid will reportedly miss training camp after undergoing surgery on his left knee last week.

Reid underwent a cutting edge procedure called an "articular allograft cartilage transplant" to repair connective tissue damage in his knee. It's an alternative to microfracture surgery. "I had the surgery because I have a significant hole in the cartilage in my knee," explained Reid. An important special teamer and rotational defender, Reid's timetable for recovery is six to eight months. He'll be a candidate for the PUP list to start the season.

The Broncos plan to stand Darrell Reid up and use him at outside linebacker, according to the Denver Post.

Reid proved he can run while covering kicks in relentless fashion the last four years in Indy, but this may not be an easy transition. He'll need to shed about 30 pounds off his listed weight (288). It still seems more likely that Reid ends up on the line, playing tackle and end in Mike Nolan's 4-3 sets.

Broncos signed DL Darrell Reid to a three-year, $6.8 million contract.

Reid, a four-year veteran, was a special teams standout for the Colts. He will likely play as a run-stopping defensive end in the Mike Nolan's 3-4 defense. The Colts had soured on Reid after his second arrest as a pro earlier this month.

The Indianapolis Police Department has already dropped charges of disorderly conduct and trespassing against Colts DT Darrell Reid stemming from his late Saturday night arrest.

Police determined the incident occurred on public property, nixing the trespassing charge, and they had no evidence of disorderly conduct. Since the accusations were dropped so quickly, Reid should avoid NFL discipline.

Colts DT Darrell Reid's arrest Saturday night was his second as a pro.

His last arrest was for marijuana possession in March of 2007. Reid's timing for these latest charges was terrifically poor. He'll enter free agency later this month with a possible suspension red flag on his resume.

Colts DT Darrell Reid spent Saturday night in an Indianapolis jail after being arrested at 2AM for disorderly conduct in a bar.

Reid was allegedly uncooperative when told he could not enter Club Oxygen because it was at capacity, "insisting" he be let in and trying to use his status as a Colts player. Police asked Reid's entourage to leave "nearly a dozen" times before making the arrest. It sounds like Reid shouldn't have been trying to go to another bar at 2AM. He'd already had plenty to drink.

Colts DT Darrell Reid was charged with possession of marijuana after being stopped by police in Freehold, New Jersey on Saturday night.

Police received an anonymous phone call reporting an intoxicated person on the streets and pulled Reid over. They noticed a small baggie of marijuana in Reid's car. Reid was charged with misdemeanor suspicion of possession and obstruction of a dangerous substance in a vehicle.
