The Los Angeles defense gave up nine plays of 20 yards or more to New Orleans in Week 12.
"We definitely [used] the 24-hour rule — we’ve got to put it behind us," safety T.J. McDonald said. The Rams allowed 49 points and 555 total yards of offense in a 49-21 loss. The defensive performance was easily the worst of the season for Los Angeles, and came on the heels off three-straight top-10 fantasy performances for the Rams D/ST. Week 13 will provide a stiff challenge as well, when the Rams travel to New England to take on the Patriots. The Rams D/ST won't be a startable fantasy option on the road in Foxborough. The Los Angeles defense has forced just a single turnover since Week 4.

The Rams are 0-4 during the turnover drought, but have won each game this season in which they have won or tied the turnover battle. "If we get a couple of turnovers a game defensively, and things are different, those are more opportunities for our offense," Coach Jeff Fisher said. Help could be on the way for Los Angeles, who will face either turnover-prone QB Ryan Fitzpatrick or rookie QB Bryce Petty on Sunday. The Rams D/ST is a top-10 fantasy option in Week 10.

The Los Angeles defense has forced just one turnover in the last three weeks, all losses.

Not only has the lack of takeaways contributed to Los Angeles' now sub-.500 record, but the Rams D/ST has not sniffed a top-10 fantasy performance in nearly a month. The once intimidating Rams defensive front is also struggling, registering 27th among NFL defenses with just 10 sacks on the season. The Rams will return from their Week 8 bye as a mid-tier fantasy option at home against Carolina in Week 9.

With cornerback Trumaine Johnson (ankle) out, Los Angeles will start Troy Hill on Sunday at Detroit.

The Rams will look to Hill to fill-in for Johnson and help in coverage against Detroit's Marvin Jones. In Week 5, it was the Los Angeles run defense that failed, as the Rams were gouged by LeSean McCoy for 150 yards. Coach Jeff Fisher does think Hill can help in that regard however, despite his small frame. "Even though he’s a little slight, he’s a run-support guy," Fisher said. The Rams D/ST will be a borderline startable fantasy option in Week 6 on the road at Detroit.

Los Angeles used DT Aaron Donald at defensive end in their Week 3 win at Tampa Bay.

Donald was on the field for 77 of Los Angeles' 90 defensive snaps in the victory and was credited with two tackles and two quarterback hits. "Just like playing D-tackle — just lined up different. But it was good, anything I have to do to make sure we come out on top," Donald said after the game. The Rams D/ST faces a tough road test at Arizona in Week 4, where the group will be a mid-tier fantasy option.

The St. Louis Rams will face the San Francisco 49ers in Week 17, who have allowed 52 sacks this season, the most among all 32 NFL teams.

The St. Louis defense is tied for seventh in the league with 40 sacks of their own and managed to down Seattle QB Russell Wilson four times in Week 16. 49ers QB Blaine Gabbert has been sacked 20 times in the last four weeks, five more times than any other NFL quarterback in that span. The Rams defensive front will dominate on Sunday, making the Rams D/ST a top-notch Week 17 fantasy option.

The St. Louis Rams travel to Seattle on Sunday to face the Seahawks, who have scored 29 or more points in six consecutive games.

Seattle has averaged 33.8 points per game during that stretch, led by tremendous play from quarterback Russell Wilson, who has improved over the course of the season despite losing key offensive weapons. The St. Louis defense has allowed 292 passing yards per game over the last five weeks and will have a difficult time on the road this week, leaving the Rams D/ST off the fantasy radar.

The St. Louis defense held Detroit to just 14 points in Week 14, the lowest point total allowed to a Rams opponent since Week 8.

Coincidentally, Week 8 was the last time St. Louis won a game before last week. The Rams have slumped on defense in a big way, but salvaged their fantasy effort in Week 14 with a Trumaine Johnson pick-six off Matthew Stafford. The Rams D/ST will be in the Week 15 streaming conversation when they host Tampa Bay and QB Jameis Winston, who sports a 58.4 completion percentage and has thrown multiple touchdown passes in a single game once only since Week 7.
Thu, Dec 17, 2015 12:15:00 AM

The St. Louis defense has allowed 140 or more rushing yards in four of the past five weeks.

The Rams have given up 141.8 yards per game in those five contests as their defensive free-fall continues. Week 14 brings the Detroit Lions to town, owners of the NFL's 31st-ranked rushing attack. Despite the potential for St. Louis to get their run defense back in shape this week, the Rams D/ST cannot be trusted in the fantasy playoffs.
Sun, Dec 13, 2015 01:03:00 AM

St. Louis defensive end Robert Quinn (hip) is doubtful for Week 13.

Quinn has not seen the field since Week 10, and the St. Louis defense has struggled mightily in his absence. The Rams have given up 28 points and 387 total yards per game over the last three weeks and face a quality Arizona offense in Week 13. The Rams D/ST will be outside the top-12 Week 13 fantasy options when Carson Palmer and company visit the Edward Jones Dome on Sunday.
Sat, Dec 5, 2015 03:43:00 AM

The St. Louis defense has coughed up 131.3 rushing yards per game during a current three-game losing skid.

Adrian Peterson, Jeremy Langford, and Buck Allen did most of the damage over the last few weeks as the St. Louis defense has struggled to regain its early season form. Week 12 brings a trip to Cincinnati for the St. Louis defense, to face the NFL’s fifth-highest scoring offense as the Bengals average 26.6 points per outing. The Rams D/ST will be a back-end top-10 fantasy option this week on the road.
Sun, Nov 29, 2015 12:27:00 AM

The St. Louis defense will look to rebound from a dismal Week 10 performance on Sunday when they travel to Baltimore to face the ravens.

The Rams allowed 37 points to the Chicago Bears in Week 10, which included two scores of over 80 yards. St. Louis will attempt to limit damage from big plays in Week 11 when they take on Joe Flacco and the Ravens, who are tenth among NFL teams in total yards per game at 361.7. The matchup isn't the best, but the Rams D/ST is still tough enough to be a top-10 fantasy option in Week 11 on the road.
Sun, Nov 22, 2015 02:43:00 AM

The St. Louis Rams have given up just two offensive touchdowns in four home games this season.

St. Louis will host the Chicago Bears in the Edward Jones Dome this week, where the Rams' defense has been extremely tough on opposing offenses in 2015. The Rams have not allowed an offensive score in their last ten quarters played at home and will be a top fantasy option in Week 10 against Jay Cutler and the Bears.
Wed, Nov 11, 2015 04:29:00 AM

The St. Louis Rams have not given up a touchdown since their Week 6 bye.

The St. Louis defense has allowed just 12 points on four field goals over the last two weeks, and racked up seven sacks in that same span. The Rams D/ST has been solid fantasy contributor in 2015, anchored by 26 sacks, and will look to pressure Minnesota QB Teddy Bridgewater on Sunday. Jeff Fisher's defense will be a top Week 9 fantasy option.
Sat, Nov 7, 2015 03:22:00 AM

The St. Louis Rams will be a great fantasy D/ST option once again this week as they host the scuffling San Francisco 49ers.

The Rams have allowed just 16 total points in their last two games and will host the 49ers in Week 8, who are scoring an NFL-worst 14.7 points per game and put up just three points in Week 7. The ferocious defensive front of the Rams will have a field day against Colin Kaepernick and the 49ers offense.
