Free agent K Nick Novak will work out for the Texans on Tuesday.

Texans K Randy Bullock has missed two extra points and shanked a 43-yard field goal in the Week 3 win. Novak worked out for the Eagles on Monday.

The Eagles are working out free agent Ks Nick Novak, Caleb Sturgis, Kai Forbath, Shayne Graham, Carey Spear, and Billy Cundiff on Monday.

The Eagles are being proactive after Cody Parkey aggravated his groin injury on Sunday. Parkey will have an MRI Monday. Novak converted 89.2 percent of his kicks for the Chargers over the last three seasons, but he was beaten out by UDFA Josh Lambo in camp. He would appear to be the favorite of this group.

Free agent K Nick Novak will work out for the Saints on Tuesday.

Novak, 34, was surprisingly cut by the Chargers in favor of UDFA Josh Lambo. The Saints currently have inexperienced Zach Hocker as their kicker.
Sep 7 - 10:47 PM

Chargers released K Nick Novak.

The move is a surprise in that Novak went 22-of-26 on field goals last year and converted 89.2 percent of his field goals the last three seasons in San Diego. Novak's nearly $1.5 million salary was working against him, however, and UDFA Josh Lambo costs the rookie minimum. Novak should latch on with a kicker-needy team. A former MLS soccer player, Lambo has some fantasy appeal.
Sep 5 - 2:19 PM

Chargers re-signed K Nick Novak to a four-year, $6.6 million contract, including a $1.5 million signing bonus.

Novak, who turns 32 before the season, earned San Diego's confidence by making 18-of-20 field goal tries in 2012 and also converting all 33 of his PAT chances. The Chargers have officially turned the page on the Nate Kaeding era.

Chargers signed K Nick Novak.

Nate Kaeding got hurt in practice and won't be kicking Sunday. Novak, 31, converted 27-of-34 field goals last year, taking over following Kaeding's ACL tear. He's a viable alternative for fantasy owners desperate to use a Chargers kicker.

Nick Novak missed a 35-yard field goal in Thursday's preseason opener.

Chargers insider Kevin Acee believed that Nate Kaeding had already locked up the job even before Thursday night. But Novak may have sealed the deal by banging this chip-shot off the left upright. Kaeding, fully recovered from an ACL tear in his non-kicking leg, will be on the fantasy radar.

According to the Union-Tribune San Diego, Nick Novak "might have kicked himself out of a job" down the stretch.

Novak started out hot, but missed six of his final 16 attempts. Nate Kaeding, meanwhile, has already resumed kicking and "absolutely" expects to pick up where he left off before ACL surgery. Barring a setback, Kaeding will reclaim the job for 2012.

Nick Novak is 9-of-9 on field goals in the last two weeks.

With the Chargers struggling mightily in the red zone sans Antonio Gates, Novak has emerged as an elite fantasy kicker. Since taking over for Nate Kaeding, Novak is 11-of-11 in four games.

Chargers K Nick Novak has made all six of his field goal attempts as a Charger.

Novak went 4-of-4 in Sunday's win over the Dolphins, including a make from 48 yards out. With Nate Kaeding (ACL) done for the season, fantasy owners can look to Novak as part of San Diego's high-scoring offense.

New Chargers K Nick Novak made 15-of-18 field-goal attempts in the UFL last season.

Novak fell out of the NFL because of his 19-of-30 career mark on field goals in the majors. But he says he's perfected his craft and points to his success in the minors as evidence. We'd make Novak prove he's improved, but the Chargers seem convinced. He's someone to monitor in fantasy circles as part of San Diego's explosive offense.

Chargers agreed to terms with K Nick Novak.

Novak won out over Dave Rayner and Shayne Graham. He spent last year's training camp in San Diego, so the Bolts are familiar with his leg. Novak is 19-of-30 (63.3 percent) on field goals in four short NFL stints. He'll get plenty of scoring chances in the Chargers' high-scoring offense, but accuracy is his bugaboo.

Free agent K Nick Novak is a "strong candidate" to fill-in for an injured Nate Kaeding in San Diego.

In the league since 2005, Novak failed to unseat Nick Folk for Jets' kicking duties during training camp. Just 19-of-30 lifetime on field goals, Novak would be a huge downgrade from Kaeding, but likely still worth a look in fantasy leagues thanks to the offense he would be kicking for.

Jets signed K Nick Novak, formerly of the Chargers.

Novak, 29, spent the 2010 season in the UFL and won the minor league's Special Teams Player of the Year award after hitting 15-of-18 field goals. He's tried too many times and failed to land a spot in the big leagues, however, with a 19-of-30 field goal rate in four short NFL stints. Assuming the Jets re-sign free agent Nick Folk, Novak won't provide serious competition.
