Patterson is due $4.5 million this season and could be a candidate for release following the signing of Brent Grimes. The Dolphins "see a potential future" for CB Dimitri Patterson with the team.

Patterson was claimed off waivers from the Browns in Week 16 and played in all 73 snaps on defense that week. However, he's due a prohibitive $4.5 million in 2013 and will have to take a pay cut to return. Sean Smith is an impending free agent, and Richard Marshall has been named as a possible release candidate.

CB Dimitri Patterson played on all 67 defensive snaps in his Dolphins debut Sunday.

Patterson was claimed off waivers last Tuesday and immediately made a major impact. The journeyman may have to restructure his contract as he's set to earn $4.5 million in 2013, but he has a chance to stick as a starter or third corner in Miami. Sean Smith is an impending unrestricted free agent and Nolan Carroll/Jimmy Wilson have struggled.

The Redskins also put in a claim. Patterson started four games this season, but missed nearly two months with torn ligaments in his ankle. The Dolphins are desperate for an alternative, as Nolan Carroll and Jimmy Wilson have been picked on opposite Sean Smith.

Patterson has played in just seven games this season, while starting four when Joe Haden was suspended. The 29-year-old recorded 28 tackles and five pass break-ups but battled a high-ankle sprain for seven weeks. Patterson was signed to a three-year, $16 million contract last offseason, but he fell behind nickel corner Buster Skrine on the depth chart.

Browns CB Dimitri Patterson (ankle) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Raiders.

Patterson was able to practice for the first time in six weeks on Thursday. He'll remain sidelined for at least one more game, but could be targeting a Week 14 return. The Browns have also formally ruled out FS Usama Young (concussion).

Browns CB Dimitri Patterson remains out indefinitely with his high left ankle sprain and torn ligament.

Patterson just now began running to rehab. He suffered the injury on October 7, and the Browns said it'd be "a couple of weeks" before Patterson returned. Five weeks later, and Patterson does not appear close to playing in a game.

Browns CB Dimitri Patterson is on crutches and out "a couple of weeks" with a left ankle sprain.

It means more Buster Skrine, which in turn means more fun for enemy aerial attacks. Patterson plays outside in Cleveland's base defense and slides to the slot in nickel formations. The Browns will have to lean on Joe Haden even more.

He was carted off and seems unlikely to return. The Browns lost Sheldon Brown to a head injury earlier in the game, although Brown has since come back in.

With Joe Haden serving a four-game suspension, Patterson is the Browns' top cornerback, and will be giving at least five inches to Green. Coming off a five-catch, 70 yard performance on Monday Night Football, Rotoworld ranks Green sixth among fantasy receivers this week, one spot ahead of Steve Smith.

Browns DC Dick Jauron said CB Dimitri Patterson will "absolutely" be considered for a starting job this season.

Last year's nickel back, Patterson will push Sheldon Brown at right cornerback. Jauron believes there's "no reason to doubt" Brown even if he clearly lost a step last season. Buster Skrine and seventh-round rookie Trevin Wade are expected to challenge for dime back duties.

Browns re-signed free agent CB Dimitri Patterson to a three-year, $16 million contract.

The deal includes $6 million guaranteed. A former Eagles castoff, Patterson was the Browns' nickel back last season, notching 28 tackles and zero interceptions. Solid in coverage of slot receivers, his return is good news for a pass defense that allowed just 184.9 yards per game in 2011.

The Browns like Patterson as a nickel corner, but they're apparently leery of overpaying. Safety Mike Adams is still in talks with the Browns, but appears likely to join Patterson in reaching free agency.

Coach Pat Shurmur says the Browns are actively trying to re-sign CB Dimitri Patterson.

Patterson is a Tom Heckert favorite, coming over from Philadelphia last year and excelling as a slot corner throughout the season. Patterson's contract demands are unclear, but the 28-year-old would be worth bringing back on a multi-year deal. The Browns ideally wouldn't put him at outside corner, though.
