Titans released RB Samkon Gado.
So far so good for LeGarrette Blount. It may be time for Gado to start his post-football career as a medical missionary to his native country of Nigeria. Sat, Sep 4, 2010 02:36:00 PM

Titans coach Jeff Fisher says special teams' ability could give the competitor a leg up in the competition for the No. 3 running back battle between LeGarrette Blount and Samkon Gado.

That would seem to indicate Gado might be the favorite, as he's much more valuable on special teams. Gado has also entered the last two preseason games ahead of Blount. The smart money might be on Gado winning the No. 3 job, with the Titans trying to sneak Blount onto the practice squad.

Samkon Gado has entered the last two preseason games ahead of undrafted rookie LeGarrette Blount.

Gado and Blount are battling for the No. 3 gig. "Hopefully LeGarrette's the pound-it-at-the-end-of-the-game, keep-the-ball-away type of back," said coach Jeff Fisher. "I think Sam has a better understanding of the whole package of the offense." Javon Ringer is entrenched as Chris Johnson's handcuff.

Titans agreed to terms with RB Samkon Gado.

The Titans were already lacking in depth behind Chris Johnson and Javon Ringer before Stafon Johnson's unfortunate dislocated ankle. Gado will add experience at the position while battling LeGarrette Blount and Alvin Pearman for the No. 3 job.

The Rams have opted to not tender restricted free agent RB Samkon Gado, DE Ryan Neill, and WR Ruvell Martin.

They all become unrestricted free agents. Gado was atrocious last season, averaging 1.9 yards a carry and failing to beat out Kenneth Darby for the No. 2 running back job behind Steven Jackson. He may want to move onto the medical field as he's long hoped to do. Neill is a long snapper. Martin's inability to get on the field at receiver in St. Louis says enough about him.

The Belleville News-Democrat speculates that Samkon Gado would start if Steven Jackson can't.

There haven't been any clear reports recently about who S-Jax's backup is, but Gado is probably better equipped for the role. For what it's worth, he's listed as the No. 2 back on the Rams' official site ahead of Kenneth Darby. If Jackson can't go, Gado would be a desperation play.

Samkon Gado (ribs) returned to Rams practice on Monday.

Gado will open 2009 as Steven Jackson's primary backup.

Rams backup RB Samkon Gado (ribs) is considered questionable for the season opener in Seattle.

Gado had nailed down the backup running back job before suffering the injury, so the Rams will keep tabs on the waiver wire this weekend. The Rams can't feel comfortable with Antonio Pittman and Kenneth Darby as Steve Jackson's only backups.

Samkon Gado left Thursday night's exhibition game with a rib injury.

The severity is unknown right now. Gado was clearly ahead of Kenneth Darby and Antonio Pittman in the battle to be Steven Jackson's backup. Check back later for an update on the Rams' handcuff situation.

Samkon Gado rushed five times for 33 yards and a touchdown and added one reception for a two-yard touchdown against the Bengals.

Kenneth Darby rushed four times for six yards while Antonio Pittman managed just 13 yards on seven carries. Gado, averaging 5.69 YPC in three preseason games, is in the driver's seat for the No. 2 job behind Steven Jackson.

Samkon Gado totaled just five yards on 12 carries against the Falcons Friday night.

Antonio Pittman managed 15 yards on five carries, and Kenneth Darby posted 30 yards on seven carries. Despite last week's poor effort, Darby still looks like the best of a bad bunch. Ahman Green remains on speed dial.

Samkon Gado and Antonio Pittman made the Rams number two running back battle a little more interesting last night against the Jets.

Kenneth Darby, the favorite to be number two, struggled with blitz pickup and didn't show much flash during the game. Pittman had four carries for 36 yards and a reception on a first half scoring drive, while Gado had a 77 yard touchdown run to start the second half.

Rams released RB Samkon Gado.

Gado will probably catch on in a hospital near you shortly.

Samkon Gado got the football three times in Week 10 and generated three positive yards.

He took two carries for four yards and lost one on a catch. Gado is third string while Travis Minor (concussion) and Steven Jackson (quadriceps) are out and will probably be released in the coming week.

Coach Jim Haslett indicated that the Rams could use a committee at running back in Week 10 against the Jets if Steven Jackson (quads) is out.

Ken Darby would start the game, but Samkon Gado could play just as much. "I'm thinking right now, Darby and Sam are our two running backs," Haslett said. In such a hard matchup, this situation is totally hands-off in fantasy.
