Chargers released SS Atari Bigby.
San Diego signed Bigby to a two-year deal last offseason. He started 11 games for the Bolts and racked up 68 tackles and three pass deflections before finishing the season on injured reserve with a groin injury. Bigby, 32, wasn't very good in coverage, and his market will likely be pretty lean in a deep free-agent safety class. The Chargers saved $1.5 million against the cap with the move. Chargers placed SS Atari Bigby (groin) on injured reserve, ending his season.

We suspected Bigby's season would be over considering the 3-5 week recovery timetable. The Bolts have already used the "designated for return" option on Vincent Brown, so Bigby won't be eligible to return if the club finds a way into the playoffs. Corey Lynch will move into the starting lineup opposite FS Eric Weddle while third-round rookie Brandon Taylor should see his first action of the season as a backup. Bigby, the Chargers' second-leading tackler, is due a $1 million salary on top of a $500,000 roster bonus in 2013.

Chargers SS Atari Bigby will reportedly miss 3-5 weeks with a groin injury sustained in Week 12.

A source tells the U-T San Diego that the injury is "pretty bad." With just five games left in the season, Bigby will be a candidate for injured reserve. The 31-year-old had been the Chargers' second-leading tackler (68) through 11 games. Corey Lynch took Bigby's place after the injury while a concussion and hamstring injury sidelined Eric Weddle and Darrell Stuckey respectively.

Chargers SS Atari Bigby left Sunday's Week 12 game against the Ravens with a groin injury.

Bigby was hurt in the second quarter and was replaced in the lineup by Corey Lynch. The Jamaica native entered the contest with 65 tackles in 10 starts.

Atari Bigby is working as the Chargers' first-team strong safety at OTAs.

He'll have to hold off third-round thumper Brandon Taylor in training camp, but Bigby has the inside track. A hard hitter in his own right, Bigby has struggled with injuries and in pass coverage. He was a reserve in 13-of-15 games with Seattle last season, recording 18 tackles, a sack, and two pass breakups.

Chargers signed safety Atari Bigby, formerly of the Seahawks, to a two-year contract.

The deal is reportedly worth $2.5 million, with an additional $2 million available through playing time incentives. Bigby made two starts as a rotational safety in Seattle last year, recording 18 tackles and a sack. He'll likely compete for the same role with the Chargers following the departure of SS Steve Gregory to New England.

The Seahawks are expected to priortize re-signing free agent safety Atari Bigby.

"They like him a lot, the way he handles the nickel safety role like (Giants and former Seahawks safety) Deon Grant," a team source told Pro Football Weekly. "I don't see him being paid as a starter elsewhere." Bigby recorded just eight tackles and a sack in 15 appearances last season, playing mostly special teams.

Seahawks signed S Atari Bigby, formerly of the Packers.

The signing suggests Seattle isn't exactly thrilled with the situation at strong safety. Bigby is a former starter in Green Bay, but he's managed just 24 games over the past three years. Turning 30 in September, he shouldn't be a legit threat to Kam Chancellor's starting job.

Free agent S Atari Bigby visited the Seahawks Monday, a source tells Scout.com.

This is the first interest we have heard in Bigby, who was passed by Morgan Burnett and Charlie Peprah in Green Bay. Bigby's checkered injury history makes him an unappealing addition. He has appeared in just 24 regular season games over the last three seasons.

Coach Mike McCarthy hinted Tuesday that free agent S Atari Bigby would not be back in Green Bay in 2011.

McCarthy called Bigby's future a "business decision," which hardly sounds positive after three straight injury-marred seasons. The Packers are counting on Morgan Burnett (ACL surgery) to return as the starter, and they want to re-sign Charlie Peprah and Anthony Smith.

Packers backup S Atari Bigby (groin) is active for Sunday's NFC Championship Game.

Bigby will be available behind Charlie Peprah for spot duty, making the Packers extremely healthy as they look for a Super Bowl ticket. Their inactives: Third QB Graham Harrell, RB Dimitri Nance, OL Evan Dietrich-Smith, OL Nick McDonald, DE Jarius Wynn, LB Frank Zombo, CB Pat Lee and CB Josh Gordy.

Packers S Atari Bigby (groin) is expected to play behind starter Charlie Peprah in Sunday's Conference Championship matchup with the Bears.

Bigby played in just four of a possible ten regular season games after he was activated from injured reserve on November 6. Said safeties coach Darren Perry, "We'll try to get him some snaps. We'll see how the game goes."

Packers declared S Atari Bigby, LB Frank Zombo, FB Korey Hall, RB Dimitri Nance, CB Josh Gordy, OG Evan Dietrich-Smith, G/C Nick McDonald, and third QB Graham Harrell inactive for Week 19.

Bigby, dealing with a bad groin, tried to warm up but didn't show enough for the medical staff to green-light him. The Packers will use Quinn Johnson to lead block, which has been working just fine in front of James Starks.

Packers declared S Atari Bigby, third QB Graham Harrell, OL Evan Dietrich-Smith, OL Nick McDonald, DE Cullen Jenkins, CB Josh Gordy, LB Frank Zombo, and FB Korey Hall inactive for Week 17.

Bigby has been out indefinitely, and his status for the postseason (should the Packers make it) is also in doubt. There are no other surprises here.

Packers SS Atari Bigby (groin) has been ruled out for Week 17.

Bigby's role has been limited since he returned from the PUP list, anyway. Charlie Peprah will continue to start at strong safety.
