Redskins S Will Blackmon (thumb) expects to play this week.

Blackmon needed surgery on a broken thumb over the bye week, but he was able to practice on Monday. He should be able to play, although he will have to wear a cast on his left hand which could limit his ability to catch.

Redskins S Will Blackmon needs surgery for a broken thumb.

Blackmon leads the Redskins' banged up safety corps in snaps this season. He's week to week, and could possibly return after the team's Week 9 bye.

Redskins DB Will Blackmon has worked exclusively at safety this offseason.

Blackmon is practicing at 212 pounds, which is up eight from his corner weight. Blackmon played 807 up-and-down snaps at corner last season, but the increased versatility could help his odds of cracking the 53-man roster.

Redskins re-signed CB Will Blackmon to a two-year contract.

Signed off the street last September, Blackmon ended up playing 807 snaps. Going on 32, Blackmon would ideally be on the field far less often in 2016. The Redskins probably envision him as their No. 4 corner.

Redskins signed CB Will Blackmon.

Blackmon was released by the Seahawks 10 days ago after failing to secure nickel duties. He'll provide veteran depth in the secondary for a team that just lost SS Duke Ihenacho for the season to a broken wrist.

Seahawks released CB Will Blackmon.

Blackmon was the starting slot corner in the third preseason game and was expected to serve in that role all season. Blackmon struggled in a similar scheme in Jacksonville last season, however, and may not have as much upside as Marcus Burley. Entering his age-31 season, Blackmon may be out of chances.

Will Blackmon spent OTAs and minicamp as the Seahawks' No. 1 nickelback.

Last year's primary nickel corner Jeremy Lane is expected to start the year on PUP with an arm injury. That leaves Blackmon, a 30-year-old former Jaguar, to get the nod over Marcus Burley. The Seahawks are also replacing Byron Maxwell with Cary Williams on the outside.

Will Blackmon appears to be the favorite for the Seahawks' slot corner job.

With Jeremy Lane expected to begin the season on the PUP list, Blackmon and Marcus Burley are competing slot duties. Blackmon has a long injury history and struggled in eight games with the Jaguars last season, but he is much more experienced than Burley, who only has 328 career snaps.

Seahawks signed CB Will Blackmon, formerly of the Jaguars.

Blackmon appeared in eight games last season, starting four. He missed the second half of the year with a broken finger. It's his second stint with the Seahawks, though his six months with the team in 2013 came entirely in the offseason. Blackmon has a long injury history, and is not a realistic candidate to replace Byron Maxwell.

Jaguars released CB Will Blackmon.

Blackmon sat out the second half of 2014 with a broken finger. He's also had two ACL surgeries, which could cause teams to shy away in free agency. With Blackmon out of the picture, Demetrius McCray will be tentatively penciled in as Jacksonville's starting left corner. The cut creates $920K in cap room for the Jags, who have more cap space than any team in the league.

Jaguars placed CB Will Blackmon (finger) on injured reserve, ending his season.

Blackmon, a nine-year journeyman, had been playing roughly half the snaps in the Jags secondary.

Jaguars CB Will Blackmon is out indefinitely with a broken finger.

Operating as the Jags' No. 2/3 cornerback, Blackmon has started 4-of-8 games, playing 361 largely-ineffective snaps. CB Alan Ball's (bicep) status has now taken on increased importance for Week 9. Blackmon will likely miss somewhere in the neighborhood of a month.
Mon, Oct 27, 2014 02:37:00 PM

Jaguars re-signed CB Will Blackmon to a two-year, $1.875 million contract.

After recovering from two ACL tears, Blackmon was signed off the street ahead of Week 1 last season and proceeded to become arguably the Jags' best corner. He'll form a reasonably effective trio with Alan Ball and Dwayne Gratz.
Tue, Mar 11, 2014 05:41:00 PM

Coach Gus Bradley told reporters Friday that contract talks between the Jaguars and free agent CB Will Blackmon are "moving in the right direction."

Blackmon started eight games and played 682 defensive snaps last season after being out of the league in 2012. The Jaguars view Blackmon as a fit for their defensive scheme and could re-sign him before the start of free agency. Blackmon will likely be brought back as the No. 3 corner behind Alan Ball and Dwayne Gratz.
