The Redskins haven't made an effort to sign free agent RT Eric Winston this offseason.
Winston has been linked to the 'Skins in each of the last two offseasons because he played for Kyle Shanahan in Houston. Now Shanahan is running the same blocking scheme in Washington. The Washington Post says that Winston's price tag seems to have a lot to do with their lack of interest right now. May 14 - 12:08 PM

Free agent RT Eric Winston is working out for the Dolphins on Wednesday.

The sides have been talking on the phone for over a month, but might finally be ready to go steady. Winston is just the latest in a parade of post-draft tackle visits to South Beach, joining Tyson Clabo, Winston Justice and Bryant McKinnie. The Dolphins are either trying to leverage the Chiefs in Branden Albert talks, or are ready to move on and install a veteran opposite potential LT Jonathan Martin.

The Titans hosted RT Eric Winston for a free-agent visit on Monday.

The match makes sense if the Titans had designs on cutting David Stewart, who is one of the highest paid right tackles in football. Stewart is still playing at a high level, though. It's unclear if Winston received a contract offer.

The Miami Herald's Armando Salguero reports free agent RT Eric Winston is still holding out for guaranteed money and a "multi-year deal."

Winston is still an effective player, but must be unaware that he's going on 30 and been released each of the past two offseasons. It's not exactly a recipe for those kinds of demands in free agency. Teams are going to wait for Winston to cave, which will soon be his only option.

Dolphins GM Jeff Ireland expects to sign a veteran free agent at tackle.

The Dolphins have reportedly maintained a "steady dialogue" with free agent Eric Winston. "There are some options out there," Ireland said. "I have some things up my sleeve that might work out. We're going to have to fill the need probably with a veteran guy on the street at some point." Jonathan Martin would be very stretched at left tackle if his rookie-year performance was any indication. Ireland hasn't closed the door on acquiring Kansas City's Branden Albert.

The Miami Herald reports the Dolphins have "maintained a steady dialogue" with free agent RT Eric Winston.

"We should know in the near future if a deal is a real possibility," tweets the Herald's Adam Beasley. The draft came and went without a trade for Chiefs LT Branden Albert, and it appears the Dolphins are leaning toward starting Jonathan Martin on Ryan Tannehill's blindside. Winston would be a perfect fit on the right side in Miami's zone-blocking scheme, but Martin would be a huge area of concern. Winston is said to be seeking $3-4 million annually.

Executive VP Stephen Jones says the Cowboys are still interested in free agent RT Eric Winston.

"He’s obviously somebody that we’re taking a look at," Jones said in a Tuesday radio interview. Jones made sure to add "we certainly haven’t dismissed Doug (Free)." The Cowboys and Winston have been dancing for over a week, but haven't come close to an agreement. They won't until Winston's price comes down.

ESPN Dallas gets the sense that free agent RT Eric Winston is "too pricey" for the Cowboys.

"[His] price needs to come down," tweets beat writer Calvin Watkins. The Cowboys' interest in Winston seems genuine, but the 29-year-old is still not budging from his asking price of a multi-year deal at $3-4 million per year. Winston likely won't have a home until after the draft.
Apr 11 - 6:50 PM

The Cowboys have been in contact with free agent RT Eric Winston, though no signing is imminent.

Reports that the Cowboys were in contract discussions with Winston weren't true, but the club has been in contact with the right tackle, and is using his situation as leverage in talks with current starter Doug Free. The second best tackle on the market, Winston is willing to play for $3-4 million -- half of the $7 million Free is scheduled to make. The Dolphins also remain interested, but are believed to be waiting until after the draft to make a decision.
Apr 10 - 3:26 PM

Free agent RT Eric Winston discussed salary with the Chargers last month, but said "things kind of fell through."

Winston has since revealed that he's seeking between $3M-$4M on a short-term deal. That was apparently too steep for the Chargers, who have incumbent right tackle Jeromey Clary signed for $4 million this season. "I don't think I'm asking for pie in the sky numbers," Winston said. "Middle of the road is fine. But, it's also frustrating from the sense of, there's still a lot of teams with a lot of money to spend, but it doesn't seem like anyone wants to spend it."
Apr 9 - 9:29 AM

Appearing on Sirius XM Radio Monday, free agent RT Eric Winston stated that he's seeking $3 million to $4 million annually on a short-term deal.

He's not being unreasonable, but teams may want to see what they get in the draft before committing a salary like that to a player cut twice the past two offseasons. Winston is limited because he only fits one scheme and is coming off a sub-par season in pass protection. He's still a lock to catch on somewhere.

Bryan Broaddus of DallasCowboys.com disputes reports that the team has interest in free agent RT Eric Winston.

Broaddus has strong knowledge of the Cowboys' intentions. He indicated on Twitter that Winston's name is only being linked to Dallas for agent-driven purposes. Winston's agent is Drew Rosenhaus, who has a history of using teams to attempt to drive interest in his clients. The Fort Worth Star-Telegram is also reporting that the Cowboys are "not in contract talks" with Winston.
Apr 8 - 4:25 PM

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the Cowboys are in contract talks with free agent RT Eric Winston.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport confirms there is "mutual interest" to finalize a deal. Winston, 29, has been a zone-blocking right tackle throughout his career and Dallas generally plays power-running offense, so perhaps the Cowboys are implementing a zone scheme. He'd be an upgrade on Doug Free regardless. If Winston is signed, the Cowboys would ponder moving Free inside to right guard.
Apr 8 - 3:39 PM

Per the Miami Herald, the Dolphins' interest in free agent RT Eric Winston has "otherwise waned somewhat."

Beat writer Armando Salguero thinks the Dolphins are only interested in signing Winston if the 29-year-old decides he'll play for Miami "very, very cheaply." After drawing a boatload of perceived interest shortly after his release, Winston's market has gone ice cold. Salguero adds that recently released RT Tyson Clabo could be a possibility for the Fins.
Apr 4 - 3:26 PM

According to the Arizona Republic, the Cardinals were "not impressed" with free agent RT Eric Winston's tape.

It appears most of the league isn't, as Winston has made just two visits since the start of free agency, and couldn't land deals with tackle-needy Miami and San Diego. Winston held his own for the Chiefs last season, but has been released each of the past two offseasons. He may have to wait until after the draft to find a new home.
