Bills placed TE Joe Klopfenstein on injured reserve, ending his season.

Klopfenstein's latest injury, which caused him to miss a good portion of OTAs, isn't known. The 2006 Rams draft-bust wasn't going to make the final roster regardless. This could be the last we hear of him.

Bills re-signed TE Joe Klopfenstein.

Klopfenstein failed to draw a qualifying offer last week, so he's coming back on a cheaper deal. The former second-round bust is far from a sure bet to make the final roster this year.

The Bills opted to not extend tenders to TE Joe Klopfenstein, QB Gibran Hamdan, OG Richie Incognito, and OT Jonathan Scott.

The new staff will likely move on from Hamdan, after the old one had an odd obsession with him. Incognito made a few starts after being claimed off waivers last year and remained a penalty magnet, unsurprisingly. Scott might return for a minimum salary. Klopfenstein is a former second-round bust.

Bills re-signed TE Joe Klopfenstein.

Klopfenstein was just waived three days ago, but the Bills had an open roster spot after placing Kendall Simmons on injured reserve.

Bills waived TE Joe Klopfenstein.

The former Rams second-round pick appears to be on the brink of falling out of the league. Klopfenstein does not have practice squad eligibility left.

Bills re-signed TE Joe Klopfenstein.

Klopfenstein lasted just one week when he was first signed by Buffalo in mid-November. He'll step in as the No. 3 tight end behind Shawn Nelson and Jonathan Stupar.

Bills released TE Joe Klopfenstein.

Even though Derek Fine is out for the season, the Bills don't have a place for Klopfenstein, a former second-round pick. Shawn Nelson and Jonathan Stupar are the Bills' only tight ends.

Bills signed TE Joe Klopfenstein.

Klopfenstein has been on the street since the Rams waived the former second-round pick before the season. He'll step in as Buffalo's No. 4 tight end behind Derek Fine, rookie Shawn Nelson, and Jonathan Stupar.

Rams waived TE Joe Klopfenstein.

The Rams' 2006 draft was historically bad. Klop was the 46th overall pick that year. St. Louis has also parted with No. 15 pick Tye Hill, No. 68 pick Claude Wroten, No. 77 pick Jon Alston, and No. 93 pick Dominique Byrd. At least they're finally admitting their mistakes and trying to institute change.

Rams TE Joe Klopfenstein underwent a "clean up" procedure on his knee to remove loose cartilage Tuesday.

Klopfenstein, who played through this injury and a torn ligament in his wrist throughout 2008, finished another disappointing season with 11 catches for 123 yards despite starting 10 games. No part of Klopfenstein's game is especially strong and he has not developed into a vertical weapon.

Rams TE Joe Klopfenstein has been playing with a torn ligament in his wrist.

Klop has a cast on his arm and will continue to play through it. He has just two catches for 10 yards since replacing Randy McMichael as a starter.

Joe Klopfenstein caught two passes for 10 yards in a Week 6 win.

Klop doesn't seem to play to his timed speed and is no more than a TE2. He needs to do more to secure a starting job heading to next season.

New Rams coach Jim Haslett reportedly got in Joe Klopfenstein's face Tuesday, challenging the 24-year-old tight end to "start playing like the guy we drafted in the second round."

"He needs to get back out there and...be productive, block, run the right routes," Haslett said. "I'm expecting Joe to step up." Klop is unlikely to be consistent statistically but is athletic, has good size (6'5/262), and is a sleeper for some solid weeks as the Rams' new TE over the next 12 games.

Rams TE Joe Klopfenstein is expected to step in as the starter with Randy McMichael out at least eight weeks with a broken shin bone.

New coach Jim Haslett expects Klopfenstein "to step up to the plate" now. The former second-rounder has been buried behind McMichael, but he has a window to resurrect his career in Al Saunders' tight end friendly offense. He's worth monitoring as a possible TE2.
