The Lions did not tender CB Tye Hill, making him an unrestricted free agent.
Hill, 29, didn't see playing time until Weeks 16 and 17 last season. As a five-year veteran, he was going to be unrestricted regardless of a tender. Fri, Mar 4, 2011 02:36:00 PM

Lions signed CB Tye Hill.

The former first-rounder has been without a job since being released by the Titans in training camp. The Lions secondary is full of former draft busts, so Hill should fit right in.

Titans released CB Tye Hill and DE Chris Harrington.

Hill was slowed by a hamstring injury in camp, but he was a poor bet to survive final cuts regardless. Harrington was around for depth while the Titans got their defensive line back to full health.

Titans CB Tye Hill (hamstring) was able to participate in individual drills Monday.

He still hasn't practiced with the team all training camp. Hill was impressing coach Jeff Fisher before his injury, but is squarely on the roster bubble.

Tye Hill - DB - Lions

Titans CB Tye Hill has been bothered by a hamstring ailment that's hindering his chances at winning a roster spot.

He injured the hamstring in June, and aggravated it on the first day of camp. Coach Jeff Fisher says Hill still has time to catch up, though. "Tye was really coming on, making a lot of plays before the injury," Fisher said. "I expect once he gets back to 100 percent he'll pick up where he left off."

Titans agreed to terms with CB Tye Hill to a one-year contract.

Conventional wisdom had the Titans desperate for veteran depth at cornerback, and the Hill signing is emphatic proof. Considering his history of getting torched the past three seasons in St. Louis and Atlanta, he's not going to beat out Roderick Hood, Ryan Mouton, or Jason McCourty for the vacant starting job opposite Cortland Finnegan.

The Vikings hosted CB Tye Hill for a free agent visit on Monday.

Hill is reportedly deciding between Minnesota and Tennessee, the latter of whom he met with last week. Both teams are in need of corner help, but Hill's track record says he would do more to exacerbate the problem than cure it.

Free agent CB Tye Hill will visit the Titans on Wednesday and Thursday.

Hill is a former first-round pick that has been abused recently and ended up being benched in Atlanta last season. He's unlikely to win a competition with Jason McCourty or Ryan Mouton for the right to start opposite Cortland Finnegan if he does end up landing in Tennessee.

Falcons released CB Tye Hill.

After years of getting burned in St. Louis, Hill was limited to eight games with the Falcons last season. Despite the team's desperation at cornerback, Hill was relegated to bench warming late in the season. The former first-rounder won't draw much interest on the open market.

Falcons LCB Tye Hill was benched in favor of Brent Grimes during Sunday's loss to the Panthers.

Hill was not injured as some suspected. Atlanta's secondary has been beat up by injuries and can't seem to settle on a lineup. No team has given up more pass plays of 20+ yards this year. It's a position for opponents to attack.

Tye Hill is expected to remain the Falcons' starting left cornerback going forward.

Brent Grimes and Chevis Jackson will likely share nickel duties. Hill is finally fulfilling his promise as a cover cornerback and playmaker. He returned a pick 62 yards for a touchdown in Sunday's win over the Redskins.

Tye Hill - DB - Lions

Falcons coach Mike Smith declined to name a starter at left corner for Sunday's game against the Redskins.

Tye Hill started on Monday night, but struggled with cramps and was beaten by Marques Colston for a touchdown. Brent Grimes stepped in and missed some tackles but had a pretty interception. It's clear the Falcons are missing Brian Williams, who is out for the season with a knee injury.

Tye Hill made his first start at left corner for the Falcons in Monday night's loss to the Saints.

Hill was beaten for a touchdown by Marques Colston, cramped up and was replaced by Brent Grimes, who later made a great interception. It's unclear who the starter is heading into this week's game against the Redskins.
