Rams re-signed QB Kellen Clemens to a one-year contract.
Clemens, 30 in June, appeared in two games last season, completing 1-of-3 passes with an interception and a fumble. Coach Jeff Fisher has already said second-year QB Austin Davis is entering training camp as the No. 2 to Sam Bradford. Clemens will battle for the No. 3 job, and he has experience in OC Brian Schottenheimer's offense. Apr 15 - 9:19 PM

Coach Jeff Fisher said if the Rams re-sign free agent QB Kellen Clemens, he'd be the third quarterback behind Austin Davis.

That likely means Clemens won't be returning to the Rams. Davis was signed as an undrafted free agent last season out of Southern Miss. He impressed many with his preseason work when he completed 22-of-34 passes for 220 yards.

Rams re-signed QB Kellen Clemens and waived DT Darell Scott.

The Rams apparently didn't want to guarantee Clemens' $700,000 salary by keeping him on the roster in Week 1. The veteran will presumably regain the backup role, with undrafted rookie Austin Davis sliding back to No. 3 on the depth chart.

Rams waived or released QB Kellen Clemens, DT Cornell Banks, DEs Scott Smith and Jamaar Jarrett, LB Aaron Brown, TE Cory Harkey and G Jose Valdez.

Clemens was pegged as Sam Bradford's primary backup heading into camp, but will instead hit the open market after just one year in St. Louis. The Rams currently have only undrafted rookie Austin Davis behind Bradford, so they'll certainly be signing a veteran reserve in the next 48 hours. Clemens has attempted just 124 passes since 2007.

Rams re-signed QB Kellen Clemens to a one-year contract.

Pulled off the scrap heap in early December, Clemens completed 52.7 percent of his passes at 6.0 yards per for a 73.8 passer rating in a trio of late-season starts. Working in his favor, he played under new OC Brian Schottenheimer with the Jets. If he sticks as the No. 2 quarterback, the Rams will have one of the most worrisome backup situations in the league.

Before exiting with a right ankle injury late in the fourth quarter, Kellen Clemens completed 14-of-31 passes for 226 yards, an interception and touchdown in St. Louis' Week 17 loss to the 49ers.

Clemens also capped the Rams' opening drive with an 18-yard rushing score. X-rays on Clemens' ankle came back negative, but the extent of his injury is currently unknown. Before going down, Clemens gamely kept the Rams in a contest that appeared out of reach early in the fourth quarter, locking onto No. 1 receiver Brandon Lloyd while keeping plays alive with his feet. In three starts in place of Sam Bradford after being claimed off waivers on December 7, Clemens bookended a terrible Christmas Eve outing against the Steelers with two starts that suggest he should be able to land a backup job in 2012.

Kellen Clemens could complete just 9-of-24 passes for 91 yards in St. Louis' Week 16 loss to the Steelers.

After turning in a surprisingly effective start against the Bengals in Week 15, Clemens came unglued against the Steelers' elite defense, hurrying throws while displaying zero touch. The performance was bad enough that it's possible St. Louis may elect to see what it has in Tom Brandstater next weekend if Sam Bradford sits out for the third straight game. Clemens is going to have a hard time earning a backup job in 2012.

Kellen Clemens completed 25-of-36 passes for 229 yards and a touchdown in St. Louis' Week 15 loss to the Bengals.

As the third Rams quarterback to start a game this season, Clemens also became the third to find himself constantly harassed behind a pathetic offensive line, rarely having time to set his feet. For being acquired only 11 days ago, however, he played well, doing damage on the run as he routinely stuck quick, short throws. With Sam Bradford expected to be shut down for the season, Clemens is worth a flier in two-QB leagues if you're absolutely desperate.

Kellen Clemens will likely be the Rams' starting quarterback in Sunday's game against the Bengals.

Sam Bradford (ankle) is doubtful and A.J. Feeley (thumb) is out. In his career, Clemens has completed 147-of-284 passes (51.8 percent) for 1,686 yards (5.9 YPA), five touchdowns, and 11 interceptions. He's always had very poor pocket presence and accuracy, and will be squaring off with a Bengals defense that ranks sixth in the league in sacks. Downgrade the rest of the Rams' skill position players and upgrade Cincinnati's fantasy defense.

Rams OC Josh McDaniels believes Kellen Clemens is capable of getting up to speed enough before Monday night's game to at least run the offense even if it’s a pared-down version.

If Sam Bradford (ankle) is unable to go, Tom Brandstater will make his first career start, but could be on a short leash with Clemens reportedly turning in a good week. Bradford practiced on a limited basis Saturday and is officially listed as questionable for Week 14.

Rams coach Steve Spagnuolo was "thoroughly impressed" with waivers acquisition Kellen Clemens' practice on Friday.

Clemens was apparently able to step into the huddle and "(rattle) off the terminology" as he split first-team reps with Tom Brandstater. Brandstater remains the favorite to start Monday if both Sam Bradford (ankle) and A.J. Feeley (thumb) are out, but the Rams' refusal to officially rule out Bradford and Spagnuolo's praise of Clemens suggest Brandstater will be on a very short leash.

Newly acquired Kellen Clemens split first-team quarterback reps with Tom Brandstater in Rams practice Friday.

Sam Bradford (ankle) and A.J. Feeley (thumb) will be unavailable on Monday Night Football, and Friday's practice hints that we may see both Brandstater and Clemens against the Seahawks. Avoid the situation in two-QB leagues.

Rams claimed QB Kellen Clemens off waivers from the Texans.

Clemens, 28, will likely back up Tom Brandstater on Monday Night Football while Sam Bradford (ankle) and A.J. Feeley (thumb fracture) nurse injuries. Clemens was the 49th overall pick in the 2006 draft. He's completed 51.8 percent of his career passes for 1,686 yards, five touchdowns, and 11 interceptions.

Texans waived QB Kellen Clemens.

The coaching staff now wants two grizzled veterans behind T.J. Yates after the rookie showed promise while meeting first-start expectations. The Texans will go with Jeff Garcia as the No. 3 QB behind Jake Delhomme.

Texans declared QB Kellen Clemens, FB Lawrence Vickers, TE Garrett Graham, OT Andrew Gardner, OG Thomas Austin, DE Tim Bulman, and CB Brandon Harris inactive for Week 13 against the Falcons.

Jake Delhomme has already grasped the No. 2 QB job, ahead of Clemens. Outside of injured reserve, the Texans are healthy for this matchup of two playoff-caliber teams.
