Bears CB Tim Jennings pleaded guilty to reckless driving in order to resolve his January 2015 DWI charge.
Jennings was pulled over while going 100 mph on a Georgia highway. The cops said his breath smelled of alcohol, but Jennings said he stopped drinking 10 hours earlier and was rushing to a parent/teacher conference. The plea means he will only serve 12 months' probation and must complete 40 hours of community service. It's unclear if the NFL will step in here since Jennings avoided a guilty plea on the DWI charge. Jul 30 - 12:10 PM

Bears CB Tim Jennings was arrested on charges of DUI, reckless driving, and speeding in Gwinnett County, Ga.

It's Jennings' first run-in with the law since entering the league in 2006. Jennings may be subject to discipline via the league's personal-conduct and substance-abuse policies. He started all 16 games this past season and graded out as an average cover corner at Pro Football Focus. However, Jennings was strong in run support. He has three years left on his contract.

Bears LCB Tim Jennings will man the slot in sub-packages this season.

The Bears toyed with the move in the offseason, and made it official during camp. Coming off a strong 2013, Jennings will remain outside opposite Peanut Tillman in the Bears' base defense. First-rounder Kyle Fuller will kick outside when Jennings lines up at nickel.

Bears LCB Tim Jennings is spending time at nickel back in OTAs, and could man the slot in sub-packages this season.

Jennings is coming off back-to-back Pro Bowl seasons on the outside. "We’re going to try it out," Jennings said. "Hopefully it will be a full-time thing. It’s a little different for me. I’ve got to get back acclimated to playing nickel and playing two positions on defense." The move was brought about by the Bears' selection of CB Kyle Fuller at No. 14 overall. Signed to a four-year, $22.4 million extension in January, Jennings will remain on the outside in non-nickel situations.

Bears LCB Tim Jennings' four-year contract is worth $22.4 million and contains $11.815 million guaranteed.

In good shape under the cap, the Bears stuffed the first year with a $6.05 million roster bonus instead of a signing bonus, therefore avoiding any proration and/or "dead money" in future years. Jennings' base salaries will be manageable throughout the life of the contract. The $5.6 million annual average is quite reasonable. This looks like a team-friendly deal assuming Jennings doesn't suddenly fall off a cliff. He turned 30 two weeks ago.

Bears re-signed CB Tim Jennings to a four-year contract.

Jennings was forced to step in as the Bears' top corner as Charles Tillman missed eight games. The 30-year-old handled himself exceptionally, grading out 15th among 109 qualifying corners per Pro Football Focus. With Tillman heading for unrestricted free agency, Jennings may very well be forced into the No. 1 corner job again.

Jennings suffered the injury in Week 13 and was replaced Sunday by Kelvin Hayden. The Bears have "optimism" that Jennings will return by the end of the regular season, and it sounds like he's targeting Week 15 against the Packers. According to ESPN Chicago, there is optimism that CB Tim Jennings (shoulder) can return before the end of the season.

Coach Lovie Smith didn't provide a timetable for Jennings, but it certainly has the look of a multi-week injury. His arm is in a sling this week. Veteran Kelvin Hayden is expected to move into the starting lineup with D.J. Moore activated to handle nickel duties. Jennings has been Pro Football Focus' No. 7 cornerback through 12 games.

Bears CB Tim Jennings had his right arm in a sling on Tuesday.

Jennings needed help getting dressed after last week's game. The Bears could be without two of their key defensive players in Week 14, as Brian Urlacher (hamstring) is also sidelined.

Bears CB Tim Jennings (shoulder) "needed help getting dressed" after Sunday's overtime loss.

That's not indicative of a serious injury in and of itself, but certainly isn't a good anecdotal sign for Jennings' Week 14 prospects. Coach Lovie Smith should update his status at Monday's presser. With 12 games in the books, Jennings' eight interceptions are three more than anyone else has in the NFL.
