The Seahawks' offers to free agent Tarvaris Jackson have been too low for the quarterback's taste so far.

The Seahawks currently only have R.J. Archer behind Russell Wilson, so Jackson has some leverage here thanks to need. ESPN's John Clayton suggests Michael Vick could also be a target, but Vick and Jackson are represented by the same agent. That would complicate any kind of bidding war.

The Seahawks remain interested in free agent Tarvaris Jackson.

With only R.J. Archer behind Russell Wilson, the Seahawks need to add a quarterback. Jackson has been Seattle’s backup the last two seasons and should eventually be re-signed.

Seahawks coach Pete Carroll says the team is still working on re-signing free agent Tarvaris Jackson.

Russell Wilson's backup each of the past two seasons, Jackson visited the Dolphins before they re-signed Matt Moore. It would be surprising if he didn't end up back in Seattle.

Coach Pete Carroll expects Seattle to re-sign free agent Tarvaris Jackson.

"I think we'll still get that done," Carroll said. Jackson was passed up by the Dolphins and Minnesota, leaving a return to Seattle his most likely landing spot. Jackson should back up Russell Wilson for a third straight season.

Free agent QB Tarvaris Jackson will visit the Dolphins on Thursday.

It's a sign the Dolphins could be ready to move on from Matt Moore, who is seeking $4 million annually. Jackson only threw one pass in Seattle last season while backing up Russell Wilson. Jackson drew interest from the Vikings and Eagles earlier this offseason, but those teams seem to be off the table.

Coach Pete Carroll said the Seahawks are in talks with free agent QB Tarvaris Jackson.

Jackson has spent the last two years backing up Russell Wilson. With the Eagles re-signing Mark Sanchez and Shaun Hill landing in Minnesota, 32-year-old Jackson could end up in Seattle for a third season.

CSNPhilly's Geoff Mosher reports the Eagles have discussed bringing in free agent QB Tarvaris Jackson.

A gifted athlete, Jackson would seem to be a better fit for Chip Kelly's offense than last season's backup Mark Sanchez. The Eagles are also reportedly interested in bringing back Sanchez, however, and Jackson has expressed interest in returning to Minnesota. The Eagles quarterback situation is as muddled as they come entering free agency.

Mar 7 - 11:25 AM

Free agent QB Tarvaris Jackson is open to signing with the Vikings.

Jackson wants to back up Teddy Bridgewater after spending the last two seasons behind Russell Wilson. With Matt Cassel getting traded to Buffalo and Christian Ponder a free agent, the Vikings are in the market for a No. 2 quarterback. Jackson, 32 next month, spent the first five years of his career in Minnesota.

Seahawks re-signed QB Tarvaris Jackson.

T-Jax returns as Russell Wilson's backup. Going on 31, Jackson has attempted only 13 passes since the end of the 2011 season, but has plenty of experience in Pete Carroll's offense. A new deal made sense for both sides.

Profootballtalk reports the Seahawks and free agent Tarvaris Jackson have mutual interest in a new contract.

T-Jax attempted only 13 passes in 2013, but has found a niche as Russell Wilson's backup. Jackson has dialed up over 1,000 career passes, and is still only 31 (in April). A new deal makes sense for both sides.

The Seattle Times considers Tarvaris Jackson the favorite to back up Russell Wilson over Brady Quinn.

As do we. Quinn's draft pedigree is the only reason he's still in the league, while Jackson started 14 games for Seattle and coach Pete Carroll in 2011. Even for a reserve, Quinn is overmatched as an NFL quarterback. T-Jax's skill-set is much more closely aligned with Wilson's.

Seahawks signed QB Tarvaris Jackson, formerly of the Bills, to a one-year contract.

T-Jack was released by the Bills just three days ago, so it didn't take long for him to land back on his feet. Jackson didn't take a single snap with the Bills last season, but he started 14 games for the Seahawks in 2011. He'll compete with Brady Quinn for No. 2 duties, but we'd consider Jackson the favorite. He gives Seattle a backup with a similar skill set to starter Russell Wilson.

The Seahawks are expected to sign free agent QB Tarvaris Jackson to a one-year contract.

Jackson lands on his feet just two days after getting released by the Bills. He's an ideal fit in Seattle, where he served as the team captain in 2011 and posted a 7-7 record as a starter. Jackson will quickly slide back into the Darrell Bevell system he's spent six years in and will almost certainly beat out Brady Quinn for backup duties. In 34 career starts, T-Jack has gone 17-17 while averaging 176.6 yards per game with 32 touchdowns against 30 interceptions. A strong athlete, he's capable of replicating some of the read option starter Russell Wilson runs.

Citing two sources, ESPN's John Clayton reports free agent Tarvaris Jackson will head to Seattle "in the next day or two" to "possibly" sign a contract with the Seahawks.

Clayton writes that "it's not known" how a Jackson signing would affect current Russell Wilson backup Brady Quinn, but we have a pretty good feeling T-Jack would beat out Quinn for the No. 2 job. Jackson was the Seahawks' starter in 2011 and earned the respect of teammates for playing hurt. He'd be an excellent addition as a backup and is very familiar with OC Darrell Bevell.
