Seahawks OG Paul McQuistan triggered an escalator in his contract, upping his 2013 salary from $2 million to $3 million.
McQuistan signed a two-year deal last offseason, and he went on to start all 16 games with regular LG James Carpenter battling injuries and rookie RG J.R. Sweezy not performing. Paul McQuistan is penciled in as the Seahawks' starting left guard.

Frank Omiyale will also be in the mix, and Seattle is expected to add some offensive line help via the draft. Pro Football Focus graded McQusitan as average in 2011, but he was the top-rated guard on the Seahawks. John Moffitt is the favorite to start on the right side, but must fend off newly-signed Deuce Lutui.

With Robert Gallery gone, McQuistan is needed for depth. He started 10 games a year ago and is capable of playing both guard and tackle.

With Jammal Brown's (hip) future with the team up in the air, the Redskins are expected to target a right tackle in free agency.

The Washington Post considers it the offense's biggest need, ahead of a playmaking wide receiver. Post beat writer Mike Jones suggests the Skins are high on journeyman free agent Paul McQuistan, who has experience in Seattle's zone-blocking system.

Seahawks signed OG Paul McQuistan to a reserve/future contract.

Paul and his brother Pat were drafted in 2006, the former going in the third round and the latter in the seventh. Pat has been a better pro. Paul hasn't started a game since 2007, while Pat closed 2010 as a first-teamer in Miami.

DL Brian Sanford was signed from the practice squad to take McQuistan's spot on the 53-man roster. John St. Clair will start at right tackle for Cleveland, and will square off against the Jets' Shaun Ellis Week 10.

McQuistan was a bust after Oakland made him the 69th overall pick in the 2006 draft. He was ineffective in 12 spot starts at guard and right tackle in his first two years. The Syracuse alum finally fell out of favor this season.

Raiders coach Lane Kiffin expects T/G Paul McQuistan to miss the rest of the season with a knee injury.

McQuistan was injured after entering Monday night's game to replace Kwame Harris, who had hurt his right knee. Harris was feeling better Tuesday, and Kiffin expected to see him on the field for practice Wednesday.

An injury to Corey Hulsey will give Raiders rookie Paul McQuistan another opportunity to be a starting guard.

McQuistan, a third-round pick, opened training camp as the starting right guard but was quickly overtaken by fellow rookie Kevin Boothe. McQuistan will guard the left spot against Cincinnati on Sunday.
