Saints released LB Clint Ingram.
Ingram missed all of 2010 as he recovered from microfracture surgery. The Saints' linebacker corps was simply too crowded for the sixth-year pro. Also released or waived by the Saints today were QB Sean Canfield, WR Andy Tanner, CB Terrail Lambert, LS Kyle Nelson, LB Nate Bussey, C Cecil Newton, WR Jarred Fayson and TE Michael Higgins. Saints signed LB Clint Ingram to a one-year contract.

The Saints had Ingram in camp last year as well before injuries ended up in his October release. Now he'll be back at a crowded strong-side linebacker spot and will try to win a job on special teams. Rookie Martez Wilson is currently the starter on the strong side.

Saints released SLB Clint Ingram.

Coach Sean Payton had said Ingram was going to practice with the team Wednesday after spending the first six weeks on the PUP list, but evidently they decided he was no longer needed. Ingram has been an effective run-stopper at times in the past, but he may not have much left after microfracture knee surgery.

Saints placed SLB Clint Ingram (microfracture surgery) on reserve/PUP.

He's eligible to return in Week 7, though the Saints won't be counting on Ingram after a slow recovery from what was initially characterized as a "small" microfracture procedure. He many not have much left upon return.

Newly signed Saints LB Clint Ingram revealed that he underwent a "small microfracture" knee surgery recently.

Ingram had a scope to remove a cyst and the procedure included some microfracture techniques, which is similar to the way Darren Sharper's recent surgery was described. Just now getting off crutches, Ingram will watch from the sidelines at next week's OTAs. He hopes to be ready for full speed by training camp, though that seems unlikely.

Saints signed SLB Clint Ingram to a one-year contract.

Ingram's numbers slipped almost by the season during four years with the Jaguars, but when healthy he's proven a capable run defender, if only on first and second down. The 27-year-old's transition will be smooth, as he knows DC Gregg Williams' scheme. He'll battle JoLonn Dunbar to start at SAM.

According to NFL Network's Jason La Canfora, free agent OLB Clint Ingram is still "mulling" a contract offer from the Saints.

The proposal is probably for the fifth-year minimum, or else Ingram wouldn't need so much time to accept it. Ingram visited the Saints in late April.

The Saints hosted free agent OLB Clint Ingram on Wednesday.

The match is ideal, as New Orleans needs strong-side linebacker help and Ingram knows coordinator Gregg Williams' defense, having played for him in 2008. Ingram, 27, shouldn't command much more than a minimum salary.

The Jaguars withdrew their restricted free agent tender to LB Clint Ingram, making him an unrestricted free agent.

Ingram has started lots of games over the last four years, but was a disappointment of late. Even though he plays a different linebacker position, his job was essentially taken by Kirk Morrison over draft weekend. Look for Ingram to land with the Saints and old defensive coordinator Gregg Williams.

The Jaguars have extended an original pick tender to restricted free agent OLB Clint Ingram.

Ingram has been an on-and-off starter for four seasons, but battled an array of injuries and never equaled the promise he showed in his rookie year. He should be safe as a former third-round pick, but isn't a lock to start in 2010.

Jaguars placed SLB Clint Ingram (shoulder) on injured reserve, ending his season.

The 2006 third-round pick from Oklahoma briefly benefited from the Jaguars' midseason move back to a 4-3 defense and finished the year with 52 tackles in 13 games. Ingram, 26, is headed for restricted free agency.

Jaguars declared LB Clint Ingram, WR Tiquan Underwood, OT Tra Thomas, OL Paul McQuistan, DL Greg Peterson, DB Courtney Greene, DL Julius Williams, and DE James Wyche inactive for Week 15.

Mike Sims-Walker (calf) is active, as expected. Russell Allen will fill in for Ingram at linebacker while Montell Owens takes over as the starting fullback with Greg Jones done for the season.

Clint Ingram enters training camp as Jacksonville's fourth linebacker.

We wrote about Justin Durant moving on to the first team at linebacker a month ago, and the change stuck. Durant is looking like the starting WLB, with Mike Peterson in the middle and Darryl Smith moving to Ingram's old SLB spot. Durant looks like a IDP sleeper.

Jaguars SLB Clint Ingram (ankle) returned to a full practice Friday.

The 245-pound Oklahoma alum missed the first two games, but is ready to resume starting. Pat Thomas and Justin Durant will go back on the bench.
