Date:

Cardinals activated DE Frostee Rucker (ankle) from the active/PUP list.

Rucker went under the knife late last winter, but was always expected to be cleared before Week 1. Going on 33, Rucker will be asked to stuff the run this season.
Aug 16 - 3:03 PM

Cardinals placed DE Frostee Rucker (ankle) and CB Justin Bethel (broken foot) on the active/PUP list.

As previously reported, Tyrann Mathieu will also start out on the PUP as he completes his recovery from a torn ACL. Rucker and Bethel will both be ready for Week 1. Mathieu is questionable.
Jul 26 - 3:26 PM

Cardinals DE Frostee Rucker (ankle) has been sidelined at OTAs.

Recovering from ankle surgery, Rucker is still expected back in time for training camp this summer. Justin Bethel (foot), Tyrann Mathieu (ACL) and Patrick Peterson (ankle) have also been absent for OTAs.
May 17 - 10:15 PM

Cardinals DE Frostee Rucker is recovering from ankle surgery.

Rucker missed three games, but played through his ankle injury late in the season. The surgery puts his OTA status in question. 32-year-old Rucker made 13 starts (609 snaps) last year, grading as a league-average run stopper.

Cardinals DE Frostee Rucker is day to day with an ankle injury.

However, the Cardinals are awaiting MRI results. Rucker has been about a 66 percent player (by snaps) for the Cardinals this season, tallying two sacks. He's been league average against the run.

Cardinals signed DE Frostee Rucker to a one-year extension through 2016.

A replacement-level player, Rucker appeared in 15 games last season, making seven starts. He tallied five sacks in 487 snaps, and was a plus against the run. He'll be used in a similar capacity this season. Frostee turns 32 in September.

Cardinals DE Frostee Rucker is expected to miss Week 2 after suffering a calf injury in Monday's win over the Chargers.

Rucker is officially "doubtful" on a short week. Tommy Kelly should fill in, with rookies Kareem Martin and Ed Stinson perhaps seeing an uptick in snaps against the G-Men.

Mike Jurecki of FOX Sports 910 Phoenix expects Frostee Rucker to fill the starting left end spot vacated by Darnell Dockett.

Rucker is a soon-to-be 31-year-old who has made 36 career starts, with all but one of those coming with the Bengals. He has 12 career sacks and four forced fumbles. Rucker is merely an average player. We'd expect third-rounder Kareem Martin and/or fifth-rounder Ed Stinson to eventually overtake him.

Cardinals re-signed DE Frostee Rucker to a two-year, $2.145 million contract.

The deal includes $590,000 guaranteed. Rucker had one sack and 11 tackles for Arizona in limited playing time last season. With Darnell Dockett and Calais Campbell still in town, Rucker should be nothing more than a rotational player again in 2014.

Cardinals signed DE Frostee Rucker, formerly of the Browns, to a one-year contract.

Rucker was released in early February as Cleveland was clearing out players that didn't fit the new 3-4 defense. The soon-to-be 30-year-old started all 16 games last season, notching 48 tackles, four sacks, and a forced fumble. In Arizona, Rucker adds depth behind Calais Campbell and Darnell Dockett.

Browns released DE Frostee Rucker.

The Browns handed Rucker a $5 million signing bonus last March, so they'll absorb a salary cap hit of roughly $1.5 million in order to release him. The move does free up $2.5 million in sheer cash. Although long a potent run defender, Rucker was a predictable bust as Cleveland's right defensive end in 2012. That's a pass rushing position, and he managed just four sacks in 16 starts. Expect interest in Rucker to be rather mild on the free agent market.

The Cleveland Plain Dealer wonders if Browns DE Frostee Rucker is a candidate for release.

Cleveland just signed Rucker to a five-year, $20.5 million deal last offseason, but with the team's switch to a 3-4 defense, he doesn't seem to fit anywhere. Rucker has always been a 4-3 end. He started all 16 games in 2012, registering four sacks. Rucker has $2.5 million in guaranteed money left on his contract.

The Browns plan to use Frostee Rucker as their starting right defensive end on early downs, and kick him to tackle in the nickel.

Juqua Parker is slated to replace Rucker in passing sets, though he could be pushed by Marcus Benard. Rucker, who turns 29 in September, was signed to a five-year, $20.5 million head-scratching deal in March. Pro Football Focus graded Rucker positively as a 2011 run defender, but poor in pass rush.

Browns signed DE Frostee Rucker, formerly of the Bengals, to a five-year deal.

It's reportedly worth "over" $20 million. Rucker is the second defensive end to be lured away from the Bengals since the start of free agency. A 2006 third-round pick, Rucker got his first real shot at starting in 2011, and responded with 44 tackles and four sacks in 447 snaps. More of a run stuffer than anything else, he'll likely be part of a rotation in Cleveland.
