Free agent DT Ryan Pickett worked out for the Texans on Tuesday.

Two weeks shy of his 35th birthday, Pickett started all 16 games for the Packers last season. He'd be reserve heft for the Texans' J.J. Watt-anchored defensive line.

34-year-old free agent DT Ryan Pickett wants to play this season.

Pickett insists there's a "100 percent" chance he signs somewhere this season, but declined to reveal which (if any) teams he's been talking to. His No. 1 choice is the Packers, where he's been a starter for the last eight seasons. But they appear to have moved on with B.J. Raji, Khyri Thornton, Josh Boyd and Letroy Guion all capable of playing nose tackle.

The Packers haven't ruled out bringing back free agent NT Ryan Pickett.

Pickett hasn't received any known interest in free agency and could be open to a veteran-minimum deal after the draft. The Packers re-signed B.J. Raji and added Letroy Guion this offseason, so Pickett would be returning in a limited role.

Mar 27 - 9:34 PM

The Packers have expressed interest in re-signing free agent NT Ryan Pickett.

Per reporter Rob Demovsky, the Packers have reached out to Pickett and will continue to talk leading up to free agency. He started all 16 games at nose tackle this past season, but registered just 19 tackles on 546 defensive snaps. Pickett is a limited two-down run plugger and may have to settle for a one-year deal.
Mar 8 - 2:37 PM

The Packers aren't expected to re-sign free agent NT Ryan Pickett.

Pickett is 34 and doesn't profile as the type of player the Packers typically invest money in. Green Bay wants to clear some room on the defensive line in order to get younger, faster, more athletic players like Datone Jones more snaps. Pickett is merely a run plugger and will likely have to settle for a one-year deal.
Feb 21 - 11:05 AM

Packers NT Ryan Pickett says the team hasn't talked with him about the possibility of re-signing.

"No, nobody has said anything," said Pickett. "I've got two more games to show 'em." Pickett has started all 14 games this season but has registered just 16 tackles on 440 defensive snaps. That's quite the drop-off from 2012 when he racked up 51 tackles on similar playing time. Pickett is 34 years old. He wants to re-sign with the Packers, but the team tends to shy away from older players.

Packers DL coach Mike Trgovac expects the team to retain LE Ryan Pickett for the 2013 season.

Pickett, 33, brings essentially nothing to the table as a pass rusher, but he is a run-stuffing power pig at left end and nose tackle. "I think Ryan has some more football left in him. I really do," Trgovac said. "I think he definitely has another good year left in him." Pickett is owed $6.1 million in 2013.

Packers RE Ryan Pickett was pulled from Sunday's Week 14 game late in the third quarter with a head injury.

With Aaron Rodgers already out of the game in a 46-7 blowout, Pickett won't be back. Coach Mike McCarthy confirmed in the post-game presser that Pickett sustained a concussion. He'll have to pass a battery of tests to play in Week 15.

Pickett left last week's win over the Panthers in the second half and did not return. "My foot just started hurting," he said. "I didn't know what it was. I don't think it's anything serious." Pickett's presence will plug up the middle for Matt Forte.
