Browns wide receiver Josh Cribbs revealed to the media this week that Lions running back Jerome Harrison (brain tumor, reserve/non-football illness list) is suffering from seizures.
"I still go over to (Harrison)'s house every now and then and talk to him. He's doing pretty bad. He's in and out of the hospital with seizures," Cribbs stated. Eagles doctors discovered Harrison's tumor last season when they attempted to acquire him via trade from Detroit. The 29-year-old is nowhere near returning to the football field, and we just hope for a return to full health at this point. Sat, Oct 6, 2012 03:23:00 PM

Lions placed RB Jerome Harrison on the reserve/non-football illness list.

Last year's rejected trade to the Eagles may have saved Harrison's life, as Philly's doctors discovered a brain tumor on his physical. The Lions had to declare that Harrison would not participate in the 2012 regular season or postseason to place him on the NFI list as a non-roster player.

ESPN's Chris Mortensen reports doctors believe they were able to remove all of Lions RB Jerome Harrison's brain tumor during his Friday operation.

The 28-year-old running back's long-term prognosis appears quite good. Out for the season after being placed on the reserve/non-football illness list, Harrison will be a free agent at year's end. He had carried the ball just 14 times for 41 yards before his illness was discovered.

Lions placed RB Jerome Harrison (brain tumor) on the Reserve/Non-Football Illness List.

He'll have surgery to remove the tumor today. The Lions' medical staff did not detect Harrison's tumor before camp three months ago. It's quite possible that this week's overturned trade saved his life when the Eagles discovered the tumor. Harrison has begun treatment and his long-term outlook "both for life and his football career" appears to be good.

Lions RB Jerome Harrison has been diagnosed with a brain tumor, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

As Schefter points out, Tuesday's trade might end up saving Harrison's life. If he isn't traded, he doesn't get a physical and the tumor isn't found. Harrison is not expected to play again this season, but the good news is his long-term prognosis appears positive. An eventual return to the football field has not been ruled out. Harrison had 14 carries for 41 yards in four games for the Lions this season.

Jerome Harrison will remain a Detroit Lion after "health issues" voided his trade to the Eagles on Wednesday.

Harrison was thought to be a healthy scratch in Week 6, but he's obviously dealing with some sort of injury. With Jahvid Best (concussion) out, the Lions' backfield is now muddled heading into Week 6, though Keiland Williams and Maurice Morris split first-team reps on Wednesday. It's a volatile situation. With more experience than Williams in coordinator Scott Linehan's offense, Morris might be the best bet for carries against the Falcons.

Eagles acquired RB Jerome Harrison and a 2013 seventh-round draft pick from the Lions in exchange for Ronnie Brown.

The draft pick doesn't hold much value, but the Eagles did well in dealing a back who had fallen behind Dion Lewis in the pecking order. Harrison played well in a backup capacity for Philly last season, averaging six yards a carry. He may have to beat out Lewis to regain that role, so there's not even "handcuff" value here just yet.

Lions declared RB Jerome Harrison, LB Justin Durant, TE Tony Scheffler, DB Vincent Fuller, QB Mike Stanton, OT Jason Fox, and DL Andre Fluellen inactive for Week 6 against the 49ers.

Harrison isn't known to be injured, so it looks like he's slipped behind Maurice Morris and Keiland Williams on the depth chart. Durant and Scheffler are still battling concussion symptoms, so Bobby Carpenter and Will Heller will fill in.

Jerome Harrison rushed eight times for 27 yards in Sunday's win over the Bucs.

Harrison was the clear backup to Jahvid Best and even filled a clock-killing role late in the game. He showed the shifty, quick feet that have made him a tease in fantasy for a few years running now. Harrison is worth an add for Jahvid Best owners as a nice handcuff.

Jerome Harrison carried the ball six times for just eight yards in the Lions' preseason opener on Friday.

Harrison entered the game in the second quarter after starter Jahvid Best took the ball four times for 12 yards. Mike Bell got the third crack at carries, notching just five yards on his five attempts. The Detroit Free Press labeled both backup runners "unimpressive," and called the Lions' running game a "downer." It's a bad start for Harrison, but he remains likely to begin the season as Best's primary backup and handcuff in fantasy leagues.

Lions signed RB Jerome Harrison, formerly of the Eagles.

At 5'9/205, Harrison is more of a shifty speed back than the power complement the Lions were seeking for Jahvid Best. But Harrison was the best free agent running back left on the market, fits in coordinator Scott Linehan's system as a pass-catcher and is talented enough to spell Best on early downs. Best still projects to receive 15-18 touches per game and the goal-line job remains up for grabs. Harrison is a solid handcuff.

The Lions have contacted free agent Jerome Harrison about competing for their No. 2 back opening behind Jahvid Best.

Ricky Williams was the Lions' top target until he signed with Baltimore. Harrison is the best free agent running back left available, even if he wouldn't fit Detroit's preference for a true power back. The 28-year-old Harrison goes just 5-foot-9, 205, but would be an excellent early-down change of pace for Best.

The Denver Post suggests free agent Jerome Harrison could be an option for the Broncos.

Harrison is likely way down on Denver's wish list, but he would bring speed to the offense. If they go this route, it's a vote of confidence for incumbent Knowshon Moreno.

The Eagles are expected to at least "take a shot" at re-signing free agent Jerome Harrison.

Harrison would be best served to test the market and find a better chance at playing time, but the Eagles definitely want him back. At age 28, Harrison has plenty of life left in his legs with only 342 career carries through five seasons.

The Eagles reportedly would like to bring free agent Jerome Harrison back for 2011.

The team has to approach the draft as if Harrison will hit the open market, however, as a five-year veteran. Harrison is in search of a bigger role than Shady McCoy's caddy. The Eagles have shown plenty of interest in mid-round backs leading up to the draft.
