Panthers declared TE Ben Hartsock inactive for Sunday's game against the Jaguars.

Hartsock is the only mild surprise for the Panthers as a healthy scratch. They have already placed Jon Beason, Thomas Davis and Ron Edwards on injured reserve. The rest of the Panthers' inactives: QB Jimmy Clausen, WR Kealoha Pilares, OT Lee Ziemba, DT Frank Kearse, LB Jason Phillips and S Charles Godfrey. Jordan Pugh will start in place of Godfrey (concussion).

Panthers agreed to terms with TE Ben Hartsock on a two-year contract.

Hartsock will play the blocking specialist role next to Jeremy Shockey in a run-heavy attack. The Jets were interested in bringing Hartsock back at a lower rate, so they'll have to turn elsewhere for Dustin Keller's partner.

Jets released TE Ben Hartsock.

The move takes New York off the hook for a $1.6 million salary. Hartsock, 30, is strictly a blocking tight end and performed that role admirably last season. The Jets might try to bring him back at closer to a minimum base pay.

Jets agreed to terms with TE Ben Hartsock.

Hartsock, 30 this July, has just 28 catches in six pro seasons. Strictly a blocker, he'll continue to back up catch-first Jets starter Dustin Keller.

The Jets are trying to re-sign free agent TE Ben Hartsock.

Hartsock is strictly a blocker that caught one pass in 16 games for the Jets last season.

Jets signed TE Ben Hartsock, formerly of the Falcons, to a one-year, $1.275 million contract.

Hartsock was just released Tuesday, but the Jets acted quickly to fill a glaring need at blocking tight end. Hartsock won't have fantasy value, but he should be in line for plenty of playing time alongside Dustin Keller.

Falcons released TE Ben Hartsock.

Hartsock, strictly a blocker, was handed a four-year contract last offseason when the Falcons were desperate at tight end. He's no longer needed with Tony Gonzalez around. Perhaps the Bengals could use him?

Falcons TE Ben Hartsock has been medically cleared after his 2008 season with plantar fasciitis.

Hartsock, strictly a blocker, started eight of Atlanta's first 11 games before the injury. He'll play second fiddle to Tony Gonzalez, at best, this season.

Falcons placed TE Ben Hartsock (plantar fasciitis) on injured reserve, ending his season.

Hartsock, once a member of Indianapolis' "flying Bens" duo with Ben Utecht, was Atlanta's starting TE but wasn't used in the passing game. He will return in 2009, but the club is sure to upgrade this position in the offseason.

Falcons agreed to terms with TE Ben Hartsock, formerly of the Titans, on a four-year, $9 million contract.

Hartsock, 27, caught 12 passes for 138 yards and no TDs as Bo Scaife's top backup in 2007. He'll block and play on all phases of special teams, but if the Falcons think they're getting a legit starter here, they'll be disappointed.

Free agent TE Ben Hartsock will visit with the Falcons today.

With Alge Crumpler gone, Atlanta has a gaping hole at tight end. Still, don't expect Hartsock to be much of a fantasy factor even if the Falcons scoop him up.

The Titans may use Ben Hartsock as their "No. 1 option" at tight end in the running game, like Erron Kinney used to.

Even if Hartsock doesn't start every game, he'll get plenty of snaps. That leaves Bo Scaife and Ben Troupe to take snaps along with Hartsock as pass-catching tight ends. We still wouldn't expect much production from Hartsock.
Fri, Jun 1, 2007 09:02:00 AM

Titans re-signed TE Ben Hartsock to a one-year, $850,000 contract.

Hartsock got playing time late in 2006 when Ben Troupe and Erron Kinney were on injured reserve and made six catches for 68 yards. Bo Scaife looks to be the favorite to start at tight end for Tennessee in 2007.
Wed, Apr 25, 2007 11:41:00 PM

Titans extended tenders to restricted free agent TE Ben Hartsock, DT Randy Starks, LG Jacob Bell, and LB Robert Reynolds.

Interesting both Starks and Reynolds were tendered; each was involved in an off-field incident last season and neither played much. Hartsock takes Erron Kinney's old spot in the tight end rotation. Bell is a starter.
