Free agent RG Jahri Evans said he wants to continue his career.
ESPN's Rob Demovsky reported the Packers were unsure if Evans wanted to keep playing, but the guard said he will play again if can find the right situation. ESPN's Rob Demovsky writes the Packers do not know if RG Jahri Evans wants to continue his career.

Evans played well over 912 snaps for the Packers last season after signing a one-year deal last April. He will turn 35 in August, however, and may not want to give it another go. Even if he does, Demovsky thinks the Packers will likely move on. Justin McCray, who finished last season at right tackle, could be an option at right guard if Evans moves on.

Packers signed RG Jahri Evans, formerly of the Saints.

The Packers have a gaping hole at right guard after losing T.J. Lang. Don Barclay was penciled in, but he's been brutal in past starting chances. Evans, 34, offers short-term security. Green Bay would be wise to draft help. Evans started all 16 games last season and made 169 career starts for New Orleans.

Free agent G Jahri Evans said he is still "waiting for that phone call."

Evans plans to keep playing in 2017, but it does not sound like he is getting much interest. "I had a good season last year," Evans said, "... and I'm just waiting for that phone call, right situation." The 33-year-old was solid as a 16-game starter for the Saints after being released at final cuts by the Seahawks, but signing Larry Warford indicates New Orleans is moving on. Evans may have to wait until training camp to find a job.

Free agent RG Jahri Evans is preparing to continue his playing career in 2017.

Evans turns 34 this year but started all 16 games for the Saints last season. His play has certainly fallen off from the elite level of his prime, but Evans can still help a team as a veteran presence if surrounded by plus talent.

Saints signed RG Jahri Evans to a one-year, $1 million contract.

Evans, 33, was a cap casualty of the Saints back in February. He signed with the Seahawks in August, but was part of their final cuts over the weekend. Evans figures to push Andrus Peat and Tim Lelito for a starting job.

Free agent OG Jahri Evans visited the Saints on Tuesday.

A Saint since 2006, Evans was released in February. He signed with the Seahawks in early August, but didn't make much of a roster push. The Saints are still unsettled at Evans' old right guard. Now 33, Evans was a replacement-level player in 2015.

Seahawks released OG Jahri Evans.

Astute Seahawks analyst Rob Rang of CBS Sports observed that Evans was "done" after watching him in the preseason, and the Seahawks ostensibly agree. Evans turned 33 earlier this month. He lasted four weeks on Seattle's roster.

Seahawks signed OG Jahri Evans, formerly of the Saints.

Evans should start at left guard, bookending first-rounder Germain Ifedi. The four-time All Pro adds a veteran presence, but is coming off an injury-plagued 2015. Evans has potential to rebound under OL coach Tom Cable. Despite his signing, Seattle's offensive line still has major concerns going into the season.

Free agent OG Jahri Evans will visit the Seahawks on Friday.

Even by their standards, the Seahawks have a shockingly unsettled line, including left guard. First-rounder Germain Ifedi is expected to man the right side. Going on 33, Evans is just a replacement-level player at this stage of his career.

Free agent OG Jahri Evans is visiting the Bills on Monday.

Evans, entering his age-33 season, was released by the Saints after refusing a pay cut last month. He should still have another year or two as a solid, stopgap starter. The Bills may view Evans as insurance should they not be able to re-sign free agent LG Richie Incognito, or Evans could serve as an upgrade on RG John Miller after he flopped badly as a third-round rookie.

Free agent OG Jahri Evans refused a pay cut before his release from the Saints, and plans to continue playing in 2016.

"He's healthy and hungry and looking forward to the next chapter of his career," Evans' agent said. Evans has grown increasingly injury prone, while his effectiveness has waned going on age 33. He'll likely be penciled in as a starter wherever he ends up, but could have to cement his status in training camp.

Saints released RG Jahri Evans.

The move saves $3.2 million in cap room. Evans, 32, had spent his entire career with the Saints, earning six Pro Bowl trips and four first-team All-Pro berths across ten seasons. Evans' body has begun to break down in recent years, however, most notably battling wrist and knee injuries. The Buffalo News' Vic Carucci reported last March that the Bills had interest in trading for Evans, so perhaps we'll see him resurface in Buffalo. Evans is coming off an okay-not-great season in New Orleans. He should have one or two years left as a capable NFL starter.

Saints declared G Jahri Evans, WR T.J. Graham, QB Garrett Grayson, OLB David Hawthorne, DE Phillip Hunt, DT John Jenkins and CB Chris Owens inactive for Week 14 against the Buccaneers.

Evans has now missed two straight games with an ankle injury. Tim Lelito will draw another start at right guard. Terron Armstead (knee), Delvin Breaux (hamstring), Brandin Cooks (concussion), Brian Dixon (abdomen), Dannell Ellerbe (hip), Bobby Richardson (hamstring), Willie Snead (calf) and Zach Strief (shoulder) are all active.

Saints RG Jahri Evans (knee scope) is expected to return for Thursday's game against the Falcons.

Evans underwent a scope after Week 2, and has missed the past three games. New Orleans' line has been struggling of late, but Evans hasn't been an above-average player since 2013. He turned 32 in August.
