The Charlotte Observer expects Domenik Hixon to win the No. 3 receiver job for the Panthers.
Right now, there isn't much competition for the gig. Hixon and David Gettis seem to be the most logical fits, but the Panthers could add talent to the group early in the draft. Hixon averaged 14.5 YPR on 39 grabs for the Giants last season. Apr 6 - 1:21 PM

Panthers agreed to terms with WR Domenik Hixon, formerly of the Giants, on a one-year contract.

Per CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora, the Browns were also "very interested." Joining Chase Blackburn, Hixon is the second ex-Giant new Panthers GM Dave Gettleman has signed away from his former team in as many weeks. All the way back from the second tear of his right ACL last season, Hixon caught 39 passes for 567 yards and two touchdowns as he played extensive snaps in place of a banged-up Hakeem Nicks. Also a capable return man, Hixon adds credibility to a Panthers receiver corps that remains thin on experienced talent behind Steve Smith. Hixon is much better than 2012 third receiver Louis Murphy and could wind up pushing Brandon LaFell for snaps.

Free agent Domenik Hixon left his Panthers visit without a contract.

Per the Charlotte Observer, a deal is not dead, but USA Today reports Hixon could visit the Browns in the coming days. Thus far, Hixon has turned down offers from the Lions and Raiders in addition to the Panthers. That would suggest his price needs to come down.
Apr 2 - 8:23 PM

The Lions are not currently "in play" for free agent Domenik Hixon.

The Lions made Hixon an offer on the opening day of free agency, but the sides have apparently moved on. Hixon will visit the Panthers on Monday after visiting the Raiders last week, and has drawn "very mild interest" from the Browns. It's quite possible Hixon turned down the best offer he's going to get, though Detroit could still come back into the equation.
Apr 1 - 8:39 AM

Free agent WR Domenik Hixon will visit the Panthers on Monday.

The Charlotte Observer's Joe Person speculated the Panthers would show interest in Hixon prior to free agency opening. The 28-year-old would be a nice fit in Carolina as the No. 3 receiver and occasional deep threat. Hixon could be what the Panthers hoped Louis Murphy was going to be last season.
Mar 30 - 4:07 PM

The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports the Browns have "very mild interest" in free agent WR Domenik Hixon.

After spurning the Lions at the onset of free agency, Hixon's market has been quiet. It's just now starting to heat up a bit. Hixon, 28, visited the Raiders on Wednesday, and now Cleveland has some interest in the former Akron Zip. He'd be solid veteran depth and could replace Josh Cribbs on returns.
Mar 30 - 1:06 PM

Free agent WR Domenik Hixon is visiting the Raiders on Wednesday.

It's Hixon's first known visit since he turned down an offer from the Lions on the opening day of free agency. In Oakland, Hixon could return punts and kicks while also acting as a situational deep threat at receiver, replacing Darrius Heyward-Bey. Hixon, 28, is one of the better receivers left on the free-agent market.
Mar 27 - 8:45 PM

Free agent WR Domenik Hixon "received an offer" from the Lions, but is holding out for a better deal.

Detroit made Hixon an offer he can refuse. That could change as early as Wednesday, but the Lions shouldn't be Hixon's only suitor. He's just unlikely to get the money he's looking for. Hixon would be a nice addition to a Lions receiver corps that was terrible in 2012 aside from Calvin Johnson.
Mar 12 - 5:23 PM

The Detroit Free Press hints the Lions will check in on second-tier free agent receivers like Domenik Hixon and Brandon Gibson.

With Nate Burleson in decline and Ryan Broyles recovering from another ACL tear, the Lions have a major need opposite Calvin Johnson. Greg Jennings would be a strong fit, but is likely too pricey. Gibson could make an impact as a chain-mover in the Lions' high-octane offense, but his reported demands (between $5-$6 million) will likely price him out of the Lions' range.
Mar 10 - 2:37 PM

Domenik Hixon caught two passes for 41 yards in the Giants' Week 17 blowout of the Eagles.

Operating as Hakeem Nicks' direct backup and clear No. 3 receiver, Hixon caught 39 passes for 567 yards and two touchdowns in his fifth NFL season. It's a role that is likely to go to Rueben Randle next year. Hixon is an unrestricted free agent that will attract interest as a capable backup receiver and punt returner.

Domenik Hixon caught three passes for 36 yards with a touchdown in the Giants' Week 16 loss to the Ravens.

With the Giants down 33-7 in the fourth quarter, Hixon beat Chykie Brown on a simple go route for a 13-yard score. These kinds of plays wouldn't be happening for Hixon if Hakeem Nicks (knee) was healthy.

Domenik Hixon led the Giants with five receptions and 80 yards at Atlanta in Week 15.

His six targets were second only to Hakeem Nicks' team-leading seven. Hixon provided the lone passing-game highlight with a 37-yard catch-and-run, which led one of a trio of failed fourth-down conversion attempts by the Giants. Hixon remains unworthy of a roster spot in fantasy leagues.

Domenik Hixon caught three passes for 30 yards and a touchdown in New York's Week 14 win over the Saints.

Returning from a two-game absence, Hixon was expected to at least split No. 3 receiver duties with rookie Rueben Randle, but was instead the Giants' clear No. 3 wideout behind Hakeem Nicks and Victor Cruz. Regardless, Hixon won't be worth WR3 consideration in Week 15.

Domenik Hixon could resume kickoff and punt return duties after missing the past two games with an ankle injury.

Hixon has been kept off returns all season. Returning to special teams would be a sign that Rueben Randle is locked into the third receiver role. It's an important distinction with Hakeem Nicks' (knee) status now in question.

Domenik Hixon (ankle) is practicing in full this week.

Hixon is ready to return from his two-game absence, but it's possible he's ceded No. 3 duties to Rueben Randle for good. At the very least, they'll likely split reps against the Saints. Neither player will be worth WR3 consideration down the stretch.
