Bears re-signed OT Jonathan Scott to a one-year contract.
Scott made seven ineffective starts last season. He's coming back as a swing tackle behind Jermon Bushrod and J'Marcus Webb. 30 years old, Scott does offer 35 games worth of NFL starting experience and can play both tackle spots. Mar 25 - 4:05 PM

Bears GM Phil Emery indicated the team plans to approach free agent OT Jonathan Scott about re-signing.

Scott was signed shortly after the season began, and started the final five games at right tackle after Gabe Carimi was getting man-handled. Scott, 30, isn't a long-term answer, but he'd be fine in a reserve role. Finding capable starting tackles will be high on the Bears' priorities list.

Bears RT Jonathan Scott (probable, hamstring) is expected to play in Sunday's game against the Lions.

After missing Week 16, Scott returned to a full practice Friday and will return this week. His ascension to the starting lineup this season is more an indictment on 2011 first-round pick Gabe Carimi than it is a deserved promotion. Scott has predictably struggled in passing blocking, and grades out negatively against the run by Pro Football Focus. The Bears will be looking to upgrade their offensive line in the offseason.

Bears RT Jonathan Scott was forced from Sunday's game in the second quarter with a hamstring injury.

Gabe Carimi, who had been benched at right guard for Chris Spencer earlier in the quarter, will have to take over at right tackle. Carimi's ineffectiveness was the only reason Scott had been plugged into the starting lineup.

Bears signed OT Jonathan Scott.

The Bears were waiting until after Week 1 so they wouldn't have to guarantee Scott's contract. The ex-Steeler brings some veteran depth to the table as he has 29 career starts under his belt. J'Marcus Webb and Gabe Carimi are locked in as the Bears' starting tackles.

Free agent OT Jonathan Scott visited the Bears.

Scott signed with the Lions in July, but was released with an injury settlement. He appeared in 12 games for the Steelers last season, starting five. Scott would provide experienced, if ineffective depth behind J'Marcus Webb and Gabe Carimi.

Lions placed OT Jonathan Scott (knee) on injured reserve, ending his season.

Scott was signed in July, but ended up missing the entire preseason. Scott appeared in 12 games for the Steelers last season, starting five, but was overwhelmed in pass protection. He's likely nearing the end of the line.

Lions signed OT Jonathan Scott, formerly of the Steelers.

Scott began his career in Detroit as a fifth-round pick back in 2006. A swing tackle at best, the 29-year-old may have to beat out Corey Hilliard and the oft-injured Jason Fox for the final O-Line roster spot.

Steelers released OT Jonathan Scott.

Scott was severely overmatched as a desperation five-game starter when Max Starks was released prior to the 2011 season opener. Now that Starks has been brought back as insurance for rookie Mike Adams, Scott was a luxury at $2.2 million. The Steelers can use that money to bridge the gap on Mike Wallace's multi-year deal.

Coach Mike Tomlin expects to have LT Jonathan Scott (ankle), RG Doug Legursky (shoulder), LCB Bryant McFadden (hamstring), and DE Brett Keisel (knee) back for this week's game against the Titans.

Replacement LT Trai Essex was a swinging gate in Week 4. Scott isn't much of an improvement, but the Steelers will take whatever help they can get. Keisel's return is good news with Aaron Smith nursing a mid-foot sprain.

Steelers LT Jonathan Scott (ankle) has been ruled out for Week 4.

Journeyman Trai Essex is expected to start on Big Ben's blindside while Ramon Foster fills in for Doug Legursky (shoulder) at right guard. Essex will be in the spotlight against a Texans front seven that is bringing the heat through three games.

Coach Mike Tomlin called LT Jonathan Scott (ankle) questionable for Sunday's game against the Texans.

This can be taken as good news. If Scott had a high-ankle sprain, he would certainly be out for this week. Tomlin also called RG Doug Legursky (shoulder) questionable, even though said he plans on playing this week. If Scott can't go, Trai Essex would get the start at left tackle.

Steelers LT Jonathan Scott had his left ankle wrapped in ice and was on crutches following Sunday's win over the Colts.

Scott was forced from the game late in the fourth quarter. He could put little weight on his left leg as he was helped off the field, and sounds like he could be dealing with a high-ankle sprain. If that's the case, the Steelers may be forced to hit the open market for a replacement after suffering a number of injuries along their line last evening.

Steelers LT Jonathan Scott was forced from Sunday's game against the Colts with a left leg injury.

He was replaced by RT Marcus Gilbert, who had been sidelined for over a quarter with a shoulder injury. Scott could put little weight on his left leg as he walked off the field, and is likely doubtful for Week 4. His status should be updated on Monday.

An MRI confirmed that Steelers LT Jonathan Scott suffered no ligament damage in his right knee last Thursday.

Scott's knee bent the wrong way during a preseason game against the Eagles, leading to fears of an ACL tear. The tests came back clean and Scott is expected back at practice in a couple days. Backup Marcus Gilbert also got a clean bill of health on his left knee. It's good news for Ben Roethlisberger's blind side.
