Cowboys agreed to terms with S Charlie Peprah.
Peprah has been out of the league since being released by the Packers for failing his physical on the first day of training camp. If his knees are now healthy, Peprah can provide experienced depth at a position of need in Dallas. Rookie Matt Johnson (hamstring) could be headed to injured reserve. Tue, Oct 23, 2012 03:47:00 PM

The Bears are considering signing free agent S Charlie Peprah.

Peprah was released by the Packers on the first day of camp after failing his physical, but must be close to full health after appearing in all 16 games last season. The Bears are hurting for safety depth after Chris Conte and rookie Brandon Hardin both went down in last week's game against the Redskins.

Packers released SS Charlie Peprah.

Peprah received a $50,000 workout bonus in the spring and was due only $1 million in base salary. The move is a big surprise on the first day of training camp, although Peprah missed all of OTA season with knee woes and might not have been healthy. A 14-game starter in 2011, Peprah intercepted five passes and recorded 94 tackles. The Packers may turn to M.D. Jennings at strong safety, assuming they don't just move Charles Woodson there full time.

Packers SS Charlie Peprah is sitting out OTAs after undergoing arthroscopic knee surgery earlier in the offseason.

Peprah should be back in plenty of time for training camp. M.D. Jennings, who came out of nowhere to make the roster as an undrafted rookie last season, displayed good range while filling in on Tuesday. While Peprah remains the favorite to start, Jennings and rookie Jerron McMillian could push him by the end of the season.

Packers agreed to terms with S Charlie Peprah to a two-year, $2.3 million contract.

Peprah signed the deal before the midnight deadline Thursday. He's likely headed back to a reserve role with Morgan Burnett reclaiming the strong safety job in 2011. Peprah is a favorite of the coaching staff, and the deal keeps him off the open market as a five-year vet. The Packers will now move on from free agent Atari Bigby.

Coach Mike McCarthy reiterated Saturday that Charlie Peprah remains the Packers' starting strong safety.

Backup Atari Bigby is 100 percent healthy, and according to McCarthy "practiced well the last three weeks." Though Peprah will start Sunday's Super Bowl, both players should see snaps across from FS Nick Collins.

Packers SS Charlie Peprah is expected to start Sunday against Minnesota, but lose snaps throughout the game to Atari Bigby.

Both players are scheduled to become free agents after the season and Morgan Burnett seems to be the team's choice for the long-term. With Burnett out for the year, both players are auditioning for a contract. Look for Bigby and Peprah to rotate snaps until one of two emerges as the better option. Considering their different skill sets, the team will likely end the year splitting snaps between the two depending on the in-game situation.

Beat writer Tom Silverstein suggests Charlie Peprah could keep the starting strong safety job even when Atari Bigby (PUP, ankle) is healthy.

Peprah has played really well since Morgan Burnett went down in Week 5. He's averaging 6.5 tackles per game, often playing in the box to support the run. Bigby is the better option against the pass.

Charlie Peprah is the favorite to serve as Green Bay's interim starting strong safety with Morgan Burnett done for the year.

Atari Bigby, currently on PUP, will get the nod if his ankle is fully healed by Week 7. Peprah has battled a thigh injury of his own and was inactive for Week 4. The Packers' only other option is special teams ace Derrick Martin.

The Packers have decided on Charlie Peprah as their No. 3 safety.

He didn't play a defensive snap in 2009, but beat out Derrick Martin for the gig. Peprah will be worth a look in IDP leagues if Morgan Burnett goes down.

Packers signed S Charlie Peprah, formerly of the Falcons.

Peprah, 27, was in Packers camp last year before being waived with an injury settlement. He appeared in one game in Atlanta, making a single special teams tackle. The Alabama product won't help Green Bay on defense.

With plenty of depth at safety, the Packers had no use for an injured fringe player.

Green Bay kept Jarrett Bush, Derrick Martin, and Aaron Rouse behind top safeties Nick Collins and Atari Bigby. Peprah was on the outside looking in.
