Free agent DL Johnny Jolly has received clearance to return from his January neck surgery.
Jolly hasn't drawn any known interest, but could get a look from teams now that he's ready for football activities. Per the Green Bay Press-Gazette, the Packers "haven't ruled out bringing him back." Jolly played 294 snaps and made eight starts prior to being placed on I.R. last season. He should be available for the veteran minimum. Sat, Jun 28, 2014 10:55:00 PM

ESPN's Rob Demovsky reports the Packers remain in a holding pattern with free agent DL Johnny Jolly.

The Packers are interested in re-signing Jolly, but he still hasn't received clearance to return from his January neck surgery. Jolly played 294 snaps and made eight starts as a rotational lineman last year. If re-signed, he would compete for playing time with Mike Daniels and Datone Jones at defensive end.

The Packers are still monitoring free agent DL Johnny Jolly's progress from neck surgery.

Jolly hasn't drawn any free agent interest and could accept a team-friendly deal to return as a rotational lineman. The Packers already brought back NT B.J. Raji and added Letroy Guion this offseason, so re-signing Jolly isn't a priority.

The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reports the Packers are open to re-signing free agent Johnny Jolly.

Jolly is recovering from neck surgery. "We're monitoring that," coach Mike McCarthy said. "I think Johnny did a nice job last year. You have to be very pleased for where he started and where he finished." Jolly's market has been nonexistent as he rehabs, but he's expected to gain full clearance, even from the Packers' notoriously-cautious medical staff.

Free agent DL Johnny Jolly (neck) will be cleared for football activities in two weeks.

The news comes straight from Jolly's agent. Jolly, 31, underwent a hip graph in addition to single fusion neck surgery on January 10. He hasn't drawn any known interest in free agency, but the encouraging news should help a bit.

Free agent DE Johnny Jolly underwent single fusion neck surgery on January 10, but is expected to be ready for the regular season.

The operation repaired a bulging disc in Jolly's neck between the C-5 and C-6 vertebrae. It's the same procedure Packers S Sean Richardson underwent last year. Richardson ended up making his 2013 debut in Week 12, and appeared in six games. Jolly went on injured reserve in mid-December, but it was unknown at the time if he would require surgery. Returning from a four-year absence, Jolly played 294 snaps over 13 games. He turned 31 earlier this month. The surgery combined with his sparse recent playing time complicates his market.

Packers placed DE Johnny Jolly on injured reserve with a neck injury, ending his season.

Jolly is dealing with a bulging disk at the C-5 vertebra in his neck and is awaiting word on whether he'll need to undergo surgery. He recorded 21 tackles and a sack in 13 games as a rotational defensive lineman prior to going down and will be an unrestricted free agent this offseason.

The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reports Packers DE Johnny Jolly has a bulging disc in his neck and is done for the season.

Jolly's injury was initially classified as a shoulder issue. He has a bulging disc at the C-5 vertebra and is waiting for the swelling to go down before determining whether surgery will be needed. After being out of the league for three seasons, Jolly, 30, came back to record 21 tackles and a sack in 13 games.

Packers DE Johnny Jolly has been ruled out for Week 16 with a "significant" shoulder injury.

Jolly's comeback season is likely through. He suffered the injury in Sunday's win over the Cowboys. A rotational lineman after three whole seasons out of the league, Jolly has played 294 snaps, grading out negatively as both a pass rusher and run defender in Pro Football Focus' ratings. He'll be a free agent in the offseason.

Packers DE Johnny Jolly was forced from Green Bay's Week 15 game against the Cowboys with a shoulder injury, and will not return.

Jolly went down in the first half, and was officially ruled out in the third quarter. A situational lineman, Jolly's absence is bad news for a Packers team that's had no answer for DeMarco Murray.

Packers DE Johnny Jolly participated in OTAs Tuesday.

It's Jolly's first practice since drug woes crippled him following the 2009 season. He has gotten his life together and that makes for a feel-good story, but he's 30 now and reportedly looked a little overweight. He weighed in at 340 pounds. Jolly isn't a great bet to stick on the final roster.

Packers DE Johnny Jolly has yet to report to OTAs.

Jolly is less than a week removed from his court-ordered drug-rehab program, and coach Mike McCarthy said he's "continuing to work through the process of returning to the team." Jolly, 30, hasn't played a snap in three years and is now the second-oldest member of the Packers' defensive line. He faces an uphill battle to earn a role.

Packers DE Johnny Jolly is expected to rejoin the team for OTAs next week.

Jolly completed a drug treatment program Wednesday, the final step as he attempts an NFL comeback. He hasn't played since 2009, when he was 16-game starter who proceeded to get caught up in multiple drug arrests. Now 30, Jolly will not be guaranteed a roster spot after being out the league for three seasons.

Recently reinstated Packers DE Johnny Jolly is expected to attend offseason workouts.

Jolly, suspended on drug charges the previous three years, was reinstated by Roger Goodell on March 4th. Now 30 years old, there is no guarantee he'll make the team, but the Packers are willing to give him an opportunity. The defensive end has been working out on his own, but there's no telling what kind of shape he's in until he resumes team workouts.

The Packers have slashed DE Johnny Jolly's salary from $2.5 million to $715,000.

The deal frees up $1.8 million in cap space and puts Green Bay at $18 million under. Fresh out of the penitentiary, 30-year-old Jolly should be thankful GM Ted Thompson is giving him an opportunity to resurrect his career. Jolly has been out of football since the 2009 season, when he was a 16-game starter.
