Lions placed CB Drew Coleman (concussion) on injured reserve, ending his season.

Coleman wasn't even at the team's facility early in the week, so the concussion must have given the medical staff cause for concern. Coleman was also knocked out of a game last season with a concussion.

Lions signed CB Drew Coleman to a one-year contract.

Coleman appeared in all 16 games with Jacksonville last season, starting four but primarily playing slot corner. Covering the slot is his best position. He finished 2011 with two sacks, two interceptions, and three forced fumbles, also grading out positively in pass coverage, according to Pro Football Focus. Coleman should stand a solid chance of making Detroit's roster.

The Titans hosted free agent CB Drew Coleman on Tuesday.

Coleman makes sense for the Titans because he is a slot corner, the position left vacant by Cortland Finnegan's departure for St. Louis. Signing Coleman would allow the team to keep Alterraun Verner at right corner full time with Jason McCourty on the left. The Titans are also showing interest in Andre' Goodman and Drayton Florence, though they're less adept than Coleman in the slot.

The Jets have expressed "preliminary" interest in free agent CB Drew Coleman, released by Jacksonville on Thursday.

The Lions and Titans have called his agent as well. Coleman is familiar with Rex Ryan's defense, as he played nickel corner for the Jets in 2010. No signing is imminent.

Jaguars released CB Drew Coleman.

Signed to a "three-year," $7.4M deal last summer, Coleman manned the slot during his lone season in Jacksonville. He held up well in coverage, also recording two sacks, three forced fumbles, and a pair of picks. Coleman, 29, shouldn't struggle to find work soon. The Jags will go forward with Aaron Ross in the role, and they believe rookie Mike Harris has a future as a slot corner.

Jaguars CB Drew Coleman suffered a concussion in Sunday's loss to the Bengals.

Poorly timed news for the Jaguars' thin secondary with RCB Derek Cox still sidelined by a groin injury. The Jags could enter Week 6 with only undrafted rookie Kevin Rutland behind Rashean Mathis and William Middleton at cornerback.

Jaguars signed CB Drew Coleman, formerly of the Jets, to a three-year contract.

The deal has a max value of $7.4 million. Coleman was the Jets' primary nickel corner last season and now figures to get much more playing time in the Jaguars' miserable secondary. Derek Cox is penciled in as a starter, but found himself benched at various points last season.

The Jets are "still hopeful" CB Drew Coleman (knee) will be able to suit up against the Patriots on Sunday.

The Jets' nickelback, he'll be a true game-time decision, testing out his knee on the field before his fate is decided. If he's active, he can expect a busy day, as Tom Brady will surely test him early and often with Darrelle Revis and Antonio Cromartie manning the Jets' starting two corner spots. If he can't give it a go, rookie Kyle Wilson should see the most snaps in his place.

Jets nickelback Drew Coleman will undergo a precautionary MRI on the knee he injured during Thursday's practice.

The Jets don't believe Coleman's injury is serious, and he was walking on his own power after practice. If he ends up sitting out, Kyle Wilson will pick up most of his snaps with Isaiah Trufant and Marquice Cole also in the mix.

Jets nickel corner Drew Coleman suffered a knee injury late in Thursday's practice.

Coach Rex Ryan doesn't know the severity yet, though beat writers are reminded of Jim Leonhard's season-ending injury that occurred during practice. Disappointing rookie Kyle Wilson will take over nickel duties if Coleman can't go by Sunday.

Jets CB Drew Coleman had to be helped off the field in Monday's Week 5 game against the Vikings.

Coleman was taken to the locker room with cramps, and his return is questionable.

Drew Coleman is expected to be the Jets' starting right cornerback in Week 4 at Buffalo, with rookie Kyle Wilson in the slot.

Wilson will be a full-blown nickel back, entering when the Bills employ a three-receiver set. Owners feeling the bye-week blues need take a look at Lee Evans, who typically lines up on the side of the offensive formation to which Coleman will be assigned. Flanker/slot man Roscoe Parrish will likely see Wilson and LCB Antonio Cromartie for most of Sunday's game.

Jets CB Drew Coleman restructured his contract, lower his 2010 salary from $1.176 million to $850,000.

His salary is now fully guaranteed, so he gets added job security while the Jets pick up a little extra cash to throw at Darrelle Revis.
Mon, Aug 23, 2010 11:51:00 AM

Jets re-signed restricted free agent CB Drew Coleman to a one-year, $1.176 million contract.

A mostly ineffective defensive back, Coleman was forced into too much action last year at corner due to Lito Sheppard's injuries and was constantly beaten in coverage. He did contribute eight tackles on the Jets' kickoff units.
