Ravens re-signed P Sam Koch to a five-year contract.
Koch's 43.6 average was middle of the road in 2010, but he finished fourth with a 39.2 net average. Better yet, he finished second with 39 punts inside the 20-yard line versus four touchbacks. He's one of the most effective punters in the business. Tue, Feb 1, 2011 05:00:00 PM

The Ravens have extended a second-round tender to restricted free agent P Sam Koch.

This is the second straight year Koch got the round-two tender, so he'll get a 110% increase in pay from his 2009 salary (it was $1.545 million). Koch was a sixth-round pick in 2006. He's clearly the team's punter of the future.

Ravens signed restricted free agent P Sam Koch to a one-year, $1.545 million contract.

Koch was lightly regarded entering the 2006 draft, but he's proven a sixth round steal. Oft-used because Baltimore's offense lacks explosiveness, Koch finished last year fifth in the NFL in net average and second in punts downed inside an opponents' 20. Koch should be getting an extension soon.

Sixth-round rookie Sam Koch will be the Ravens' punter in 2006.

It didn't take much from Koch to beat out Leo Araguz, who was released late Friday night. Koch may also handle kickoffs.

Ravens signed sixth-round punter Sam Koch, a product of the University of Nebraska, to a three-year contract.

Koch wasn't as highly rated as other punters that weren't drafted but Baltimore made him the first player taken at the position. He'll battle Leo Araguz for starting duties in camp.
