Giants S Derrick Martin was forced from Sunday's game against the Eagles with a hamstring injury, and will not return.

Fellow reserve defensive back Michael Coe is questionable to return with a shoulder injury. Primarily a special teamer, Martin has 10 tackles. If he's staring at a multi-week absence, he'll likely be sent to injured reserve.

Giants signed S Derrick Martin, formerly of the Packers.

The 26-year-old Martin had a reputation as a top special teams gunner before a knee injury ended his 2010 season. He won't help on defense in New York.

Packers waived S Derrick Martin.

Martin, 26 in May, made five special teams tackles in five appearances last season before landing on injured reserve with a knee injury in October. The extent is unknown, but Martin was not much of a defensive back.

Packers placed S Derrick Martin (knee) on injured reserve, ending his season.

Martin's loss will be felt on special teams, where he is a key contributor. He's not an important part of the Packers' defense, though.

Packers S Derrick Martin is expected to miss "more than a couple weeks" with a sprained knee.

Martin is a terrific special teams player, but his loss won't be felt on the defense.

Packers S Derrick Martin underwent arthroscopic surgery on his ankle in late April.

Martin is listed as a safety, but he's essentially a special teams ace. The Packers expect him to be healthy in time for training camp.

Packers signed DB Derrick Martin to a two-year contract.

They're essentially buying out his final two years of restricted free agency. Martin, 25, isn't a defensive contributor but finished second on the club in special teams tackles with 21 a year ago. The team lists him at safety.

Packers special teams ace Derrick Martin (ankle) is doubtful for Sunday's game against the Cardinals.

Martin hurt the ankle in the Week 16 win over the Seahawks. He'll try to get ready for the playoffs.

Packers coach Mike McCarthy said that SS Derrick Martin was benched in the second half Monday for performance reasons.

Martin spent the night in a Minneapolis hospital because of a bruised throat, but that's not why he came out of the game. He was replaced by Jarrett Bush.

Former Ravens DB Derrick Martin is expected to start at strong safety with Atari Bigby (ankle) out.

Bigby's strength is run support, where the 5'10/198 Martin will likely struggle. With Aaron Rouse now in New York, the Packers don't have much of a choice. The 230-pound Steven Jackson is licking his chops in anticipation.

Newly acquired DB Derrick Martin will be used as a backup safety and sixth defensive back in the dime defense

GM Ted Thompson said he liked Martin since he was at Wyoming. Martin's biggest impact will be on special teams. He probably isn't going to unseat Aaron Rouse to be Green Bay's third safety behind Nick Collins and Atari Bigby.

Packers acquired CB Derrick Martin from the Ravens in exchange for OL Tony Moll.

Martin has been in and out of trouble with the law and is almost strictly a special teamer. But with the Packers' injuries in the secondary, Martin may get a look as a dime back.

The Ravens are attempting to convert CB Derrick Martin to safety.

For a player like Martin, who's been arrested in the last year, served a one-game suspension, and hasn't made much of a mark in three seasons, a position switch isn't a good sign. He's squarely on the roster bubble in camp.

Ravens re-signed CB Derrick Martin.

Martin, strictly a special teamer, spent most of last season on injure reserve with a bum shoulder. He's set up to make a minimum salary in 2009.
