Saints RT Zach Strief (groin) is active for Thursday night's game against the Falcons.

Strief has been out since suffering the injury in Week 9 against the Eagles, and the Saints are getting him back at the right time with back-up Charles Brown out with a knee injury. New Orleans declared Brown, TE David Thomas, LB Scott Shanle, DE Junior Galette, S Isa Abdul-Quddus, WR Courtney Roby, and DT Tom Johnson inactive.

Strief injured his groin in Monday night’s win over the Eagles. He traveled to Philadelphia on Friday to be examined by a sports hernia specialist. Third-year pro Charles Brown will replace Strief in the lineup.

Strief was injured in the third quarter of Monday night's win over the Eagles. He was replaced in the lineup by third-year lineman Charles Brown. Strief has graded out as Pro Football Focus' No. 14 right tackle this year, while excelling in pass protection.

Saints coach Sean Payton confirmed Wednesday that RT Zach Strief (knee) will resume starting in Week 9.

Strief's healthy return from a right MCL sprain comes in a timely manner for New Orleans, which lost Charles Brown to a season-ending hip injury in Week 8. Strief has made 10 career starts. Signed to a new three-year contract in the offseason, he has been tabbed as Jon Stinchcomb's long-term successor.

Saints RT Zach Strief resumed practicing Thursday for the first time since spraining the MCL in his right knee on Sept. 25.

Strief is expected to sit out one more week, but he's back on track to return before the Week 11 bye. Charles Brown, last year's second-rounder, has held up well enough that the Saints may consider keeping him in as the starter.

The New Orleans Times-Picayune suggests RT Zach Strief is a candidate for injured reserve after injuring his knee in Sunday's win over the Texans. Charles Brown figures to start at right tackle against the Jaguars this week. Longtime starter Jon Stinchcomb was released at final cuts, and subsequently retired.

Saints RT Zach Strief was carried off the field with a right knee injury early in the third quarter.

Strief's knee was bloody, and the injury caused him a ton of pain. Two trainers helped carry Strief to the sideline. He was replaced by second-year OT Charles Brown. Strief beat out Jon Stinchcomb for a starting job in camp.

Five-year veteran Zach Strief is now pushing Jon Stinchcomb for the Saints' starting right tackle job.

Strief has been under the impression that he would compete for the job since re-signing two weeks ago. Stinchcomb is coming off surgery to reattach his quad to his knee, so it's a good bet that he's far from 100 percent. Turning 32 later this month, Stinchcomb has declined as a pass protector the past two seasons.

Saints agreed to terms with OT Zach Strief on a three-year contract.

The five-year veteran didn't draw a tender from the Saints in March, but he ended up unrestricted anyway. He's likely returning to back up Jermon Bushrod and Jon Stinchcomb at a salary closer to $1.5 million.

Free agent OT Zach Strief failed to draw a tender offer from the Saints before the lockout went into effect in March.

A capable reserve through five seasons in New Orleans, Strief drew a second-round tender in 2010. The Saints have apparently decided to go forward with Charles Brown as the swing tackle.

Saints re-signed restricted free agent OT Zach Strief to a one-year, $1.759 million contract.

Strief, 26, has played in 57 games with five starts in his four years with the Saints after being drafted in the 2006 seventh round out of Northwestern. He gives the team quality depth behind Jon Stinchcomb and Jammal Brown.

The Saints placed a second-round tender on restricted free agent OT Zach Strief.

Strief, a seventh-round pick in 2006, has been routinely solid in spot duty for the Saints. The team doesn't appear to believe he's of starting caliber, but Strief is likely to return as New Orleans' swing tackle in 2010.
