Jets released WR Ben Obomanu.

Obomanu saw some action with the first-team offense this preseason, but he's mainly a special teams player. He'll turn 30 in October.

Ben Obomanu had three catches for 56 yards and a touchdown in Saturday's preseason game.

Obomanu saw playing time with the first-team offense and scored on a 22-yard crossing pattern from Geno Smith. He's competing for a roster spot behind Santonio Holmes, Stephen Hill, and Jeremy Kerley. Obomanu has seven receptions for 115 yards and one touchdown through three preseason games.

Jets signed WR Ben Obomanu, formerly of the Seahawks.

Ex-Seattle front office man John Idzik has fingerprints on this one. Obomanu was reasonable receiver depth and a special teamer for the Seahawks, catching 87 passes for 1,209 yards with seven touchdowns over five seasons. He'll immediately slide in as the likely No. 4 wideout for the Jets, behind Santonio Holmes, Stephen Hill, and Jeremy Kerley.

Seahawks released WR Ben Obomanu.

The special teamer was due $2.3 million in the final year of his deal. Obomanu finished the season on injured reserve with a wrist injury after playing in eight games. In 2011, Obomanu caught 37 passes, but just four last season. He was an obvious release candidate.

Seahawks placed WR Ben Obomanu (wrist) on injured reserve, ending his season.

They also cut CB Danny Gorrer, and signed WR Jermaine Kearse and OT Mike Person from the practice squad. Obomanu, 29, finishes with 58 yards on four receptions in eight appearances, also chipping in two tackles on special teams. He'll be a release candidate after the season with a $2.3 million 2013 salary.

Seahawks WR Ben Obomanu and FB Michael Robinson suffered sprained wrists in Week 8 at Detroit.

Coach Pete Carroll provided no further details. The players will likely be sent for testing on Monday. Obomanu has been primarily a special teamer this season.

Ben Obomanu caught three passes for 50 yards in Week 7 against the 49ers.

Obomanu caught three of his four targets, and the three catches and 50 yards led Seattle's anemic receiving corps. With Doug Baldwin leaving the game in the first half due to an ankle injury, Obomanu saw an uptick in playing time. He's not on the fantasy radar.

Ben Obomanu worked as the first-team flanker with Sidney Rice (knee) sidelined Wednesday.

It's a reminder that the Seahawks have very defined positions in their wideout corps. Obomanu is Rice's backup and Braylon Edwards/Golden Tate man the split end spot. Regardless, Rice's latest ailment is not thought to be serious.

Ben Obomanu sustained a knee strain in the Seahawks' Week 16 loss to the 49ers.

Obomanu had two catches for 20 yards before leaving. The severity of his injury is not currently known.

Ben Obomanu will take Mike Williams' (injured reserve, ankle) place in the starting lineup.

Obomanu will line up opposite Golden Tate while Doug Baldwin mans the slot. It's really just a nominal promotion as Williams was rotating anyway. Obomanu is off the fantasy radar as he hasn't had more than three catches in a game since Week 8.

Ben Obomanu caught one pass for 13 yards in Seattle's Week 14 win.

One week after playing just eight snaps against the Eagles, Obomanu wasn't any more involved in the game-plan, drawing one target. He's off the radar in all formats of fantasy.

Seahawks WR Ben Obomanu played just eight snaps against the Eagles in Week 13.

Taking over as the No. 1 receiver with Sidney Rice out, Golden Tate easily led the way among Seattle wideouts with 51 snaps. Per Pro Football Focus, the rest of the snap counts are as follows: Big Mike Williams 27, Doug Baldwin 12, and Deon Butler 10. Tate is the only one worth carrying in standard-scoring leagues right now.

Ben Obomanu was held to 28 yards on two receptions against the Eagles in Week 13.

Obomanu started opposite Golden Tate, but he drew just two targets on Tarvaris Jackson's 16 pass attempts. He's not worth a fantasy roster spot in a run-dominant offense.
