According to the Philadelphia Daily News, free agent C/G Nick Cole is "said to be bound for the Packers."
We're not sure where the Daily News is getting this information, and the "report" cites no sources. A 6-foot, 350-pound versatile lineman, Cole could fit in with Green Bay's increasingly power blocking scheme. The Packers still should be able to do better than Cole at left guard, assuming that's their thinking. Wed, Mar 2, 2011 07:39:00 PM

ESPN Chicago speculates that free agent G/C Nick Cole could "easily" interest the Bears after Cole was not tendered by the Eagles.

Cole will be an unrestricted free agent once a new CBA is finalized, and beat writer Mike C. Wright calls him a "potential low-cost, low-risk" signing. We don't think the 350-pound Cole would be a good addition for the Bears unless it's as a clear-cut backup, though. He struggles in pass protection.

The Eagles have reportedly decided against tendering a contract to free agent G/C Nick Cole.

The five-year veteran will test the free agent market instead. Cole shouldn't have trouble finding a job if only for his versatility, but he falls well short of starter caliber at either guard or center.

Nick Cole was replaced at right guard by Max Jean-Gilles Thursday night.

Though Jean-Gilles held up well, it sounds like a temporary move. "I thought maybe we could give Nick a little rest on his knee and get him back fresh after a few days," explained coach Andy Reid.

Eagles head coach Andy Reid said Friday "there's a pretty good chance it's Nick (Cole)," when asked who would be the team's starting right guard in Week 11.

Clearly unwilling to tip his hand heading into Sunday's important matchup against the Giants, Reid added that "there's a chance Max (Jean-Gilles) could be in there, too." There's a decent chance that both will see playing time.

Eagles coach Andy Reid said RG Nick Cole will miss Week 4 due to swelling in his knee.

Cole will presumably be replaced by Reggie Wells. Cole has performed poorly in the early going, so it's not an obvious downgrade for LeSean McCoy.

Eagles coach Andy Reid said that C Jamaal Jackson (ACL surgery) won't be rushed back because the team is comfortable with Nick Cole.

It's unclear if Jackson will be ready for Week 1, but it sounds like the Eagles are looking to play it safe. Cole was adequate as a starting center after Jackson went down late last season, but he's best served as a backup.

The Eagles prefer to use C/G Nick Cole as a backup.

Cole is projected as the Week 1 starting center right now because of Jamaal Jackson's ACL tear, but beat writer Les Bowen hints that Cole could be supplanted by Mike McGlynn or A.Q. Shipley. We don't see it. Although Cole isn't anything special, he's a known entity that's reliable.

Eagles re-signed restricted free agent C/G Nick Cole to a one-year, $1.759 million contract.

Cole, 26 before the season, started all 16 games last year, rotating between guard and center. The squatty, 350-pounder will likely open Week 1 as the Birds' first-team C with Jamaal Jackson coming off a late-season torn ACL.

The Eagles will extend a second-round tender offer to restricted free agent C/G Nick Cole.

Cole started the season filling in at both guard spots before moving over to center in place of Jamaal Jackson (torn ACL). Pending Jackson's return, Cole could open the season as the starting center.

Eagles signed restricted free agent OL Nick Cole to a one-year, $1.545 million contract.

Cole, 25, made five spot starts at guard last season with Shawn Andrews injured. The former undrafted free agent can also play center and some fullback. The Eagles figure to enter long-term negotiations with Cole this year.
