Bucs signed DT Tony McDaniel, formerly of the Seahawks, to a one-year contract.
After the Seahawks handed out contract extensions to Russell Wilson and Bobby Wagner earlier this month, McDaniel got the boot. He was due $3 million in salary and bonuses in Seattle. He can reportedly earn up to $2.5 million in Tampa Bay. Run-plugging McDaniel joins an already-solid group of defensive tackles in Tampa, joining Gerald McCoy, Clinton McDonald and Henry Melton. Raiders GM Reggie McKenzie said the team could have interest in free agent DT Tony McDaniel.

McDaniel was released by the Seahawks on Sunday in a cost-cutting move. The Raiders will be one of at least a few teams interested, especially given their cap space and the presence of former Seattle assistant Ken Norton Jr. as their defensive coordinator.

Seahawks released DT Tony McDaniel.

He was owed $3 million in salary and bonuses. It was inevitable the Seahawks would have to cut someone to clear cap room after signing Russell Wilson and Bobby Wagner to big contract extensions. It's a big loss for Seattle's front seven as McDaniel received PFF's 15th highest defensive tackle grade last season. The 10-year veteran shouldn't have any trouble landing a new team.

Seahawks DT Tony McDaniel (shoulder) returned to practice Thursday, getting in a full session.

The run plugger is now on track to suit up for Sunday's NFC Championship Game.

Seahawks DT Tony McDaniel's (shoulder) status is unclear for the NFC Championship Game.

McDaniel has yet to practice this week, but will apparently get some reps in on Friday. McDaniel appeared in all 16 games this season, starting 14 of them. The run plugger played 35-of-70 snaps in the Divisional Round.

Seahawks coach Pete Carroll confirmed Tony McDaniel will replace Red Bryant at five-technique defensive end.

McDaniel is similarly big, long (6'7/320), and difficult to move, and his 2013 performance suggests he could be an upgrade on Bryant versus the run. In Seattle's 4-3 under scheme, "five technique" is a pure run-stopping position, where the player occupies blocks and sets the edge. The Seahawks will get pass rush from Michael Bennett, Cliff Avril, and Kevin Williams, among others.

Seahawks DT Tony McDaniel spent some time at defensive end during Thursday's OTAs.

The Seahawks need someone to fill the run-stuffing end role vacated by DE Red Bryant when he moved to Jacksonville. McDaniel will get the first crack to fill the void, but he will have to fend off a challenge from DT Greg Scruggs, who missed all of 2013 recovering from an ACL tear.

Seahawks re-signed DT Tony McDaniel to a two-year contract.

The deal is worth a "max" of $6.3 million. McDaniel was drawing interest from the Cowboys, but has opted to stay with the world champions. McDaniel started 15-of-16 games last season, ringing up 53 tackles and two sacks while swallowing up the run. He'll return as an early-down thumper.

ESPN Dallas reports the Cowboys are interested in free agent DT Tony McDaniel.

McDaniel is currently in contract negotiations with the Seahawks, so Jerry Jones may not get a chance to sign the 29-year-old. McDaniel proved to be a top-of-the-line interior run defender in Seattle last season. Dallas needs interior linemen.

The Seahawks are in contract talks with free agent DT Tony McDaniel.

McDaniel, 29, signed a one-year deal with the Seahawks last offseason and ended up starting 15 games. He recorded a career-high 53 tackles and two sacks while playing top-notch run defense. McDaniel stands 6-foot-7, 320.

Seahawks GM John Schneider said DT Tony McDaniel would likely get the first crack at replacing Alan Branch as the run-stuffing defensive tackle.

Branch, 6-foot-6 and 325 pounds, started all 16 games last season and graded out in the bottom half of Pro Football Focus' defensive tackle rankings when it came to stopping the run. McDaniel is listed at 6-foot-7 and 305 pounds, and he has started just five games over his seven-year career. Seattle could look to add a defensive tackle in the draft.

Seahawks agreed to terms with DT Tony McDaniel, formerly of the Dolphins, on a one-year contract.

McDaniel, 28, registered 11 tackles and a half-sack in 11 games last season, playing 255 defensive snaps. The Seahawks are looking to replace Jason Jones and Alan Branch on the interior, and McDaniel should slot in as a rotational player. McDaniel goes 6-foot-7, 305. He's been a decent run stopper in the past.

Free agent DT Tony McDaniel will visit the Seahawks Thursday.

Despite stealing Cliff Avril and Michael Bennett already, the Seahawks continue to explore pieces for their defensive line. McDaniel, who has been a quality reserve for the Dolphins over the last four seasons, would serve the same role in Seattle. Alan Branch is a free agent that the Seahakws haven't shown interest in re-signing.

The Miami Herald reports free agent DT Tony McDaniel won't re-sign with the Dolphins.

McDaniel was a valuable reserve in 2009-10, but struggled to stay healthy the past two seasons. He limped through knee and ankle issues in 2012, and notched just 11 tackles and 0.5 sacks in 11 games. An eight-year veteran, McDaniel should get a camp invite, but no guaranteed money.

Dolphins DT Tony McDaniel ended up undergoing arthroscopic surgery on his knee several weeks ago.

The injury bothered McDaniel throughout training camp, and he aggravated it versus the Texans in the season opener. McDaniels has felt "awesome" in a pair of limited practices this week and expects to play Sunday versus the Bengals.
