Seahawks GM John Schneider said DT Tony McDaniel would likely get the first crack at replacing Alan Branch as the run-stuffing defensive tackle.
Branch, 6-foot-6 and 325 pounds, started all 16 games last season and graded out in the bottom half of Pro Football Focus' defensive tackle rankings when it came to stopping the run. McDaniel is listed at 6-foot-7 and 305 pounds, and he has started just five games over his seven-year career. Seattle could look to add a defensive tackle in the draft. Apr 18 - 7:29 PM

Seahawks agreed to terms with DT Tony McDaniel, formerly of the Dolphins, on a one-year contract.

McDaniel, 28, registered 11 tackles and a half-sack in 11 games last season, playing 255 defensive snaps. The Seahawks are looking to replace Jason Jones and Alan Branch on the interior, and McDaniel should slot in as a rotational player. McDaniel goes 6-foot-7, 305. He's been a decent run stopper in the past.

Free agent DT Tony McDaniel will visit the Seahawks Thursday.

Despite stealing Cliff Avril and Michael Bennett already, the Seahawks continue to explore pieces for their defensive line. McDaniel, who has been a quality reserve for the Dolphins over the last four seasons, would serve the same role in Seattle. Alan Branch is a free agent that the Seahakws haven't shown interest in re-signing.

The Miami Herald reports free agent DT Tony McDaniel won't re-sign with the Dolphins.

McDaniel was a valuable reserve in 2009-10, but struggled to stay healthy the past two seasons. He limped through knee and ankle issues in 2012, and notched just 11 tackles and 0.5 sacks in 11 games. An eight-year veteran, McDaniel should get a camp invite, but no guaranteed money.

Dolphins DT Tony McDaniel ended up undergoing arthroscopic surgery on his knee several weeks ago.

The injury bothered McDaniel throughout training camp, and he aggravated it versus the Texans in the season opener. McDaniels has felt "awesome" in a pair of limited practices this week and expects to play Sunday versus the Bengals.

Dolphins DE Tony McDaniel (hand) resumed practicing on Tuesday.

McDaniel injured his thumb in the season opener, requiring surgery to aid the recovery process. He'll return as a rotational player on a deep defensive line.

Dolphins DE Tony McDaniel is expected to be sidelined a couple of weeks with the hand injury that knocked him out of Monday night's game.

McDaniel reportedly underwent a surgical procedure to aid the recovery process. The rotational end could play with a club over his hand when he returns, but that won't be until after this week's game against the Texans. The Fins are deep on the defensive line, so this won't be a major loss.

Dolphins DE Tony McDaniel injured his thumb during Monday's loss to the Patriots.

McDaniel left in the first half and did not return. Jared Odrick stepped up at the start of the third quarter with a 39-yard interception return that set up a touchdown.

Dolphins DE Tony McDaniel left Monday night's Week 1 game against the Patriots with a hand injury.

He will not return. McDaniel was playing behind Kendall Langford and Jared Odrick on the defensive front. We'll get an update on the nature and severity of his injury after X-Rays.

Dolphins agreed to terms on a two-year, $6 million contract with DE Tony McDaniel.

Perhaps McDaniel found less interest than anticipated. Back in March, it was reported that the Dolphins were not expected to pay him with Kendall Langford and Jared Odrick ready to go. McDaniel will provide versatile depth.

Free agent DE Tony McDaniel is not expected back with the Dolphins.

The versatile McDaniel played in 15 games last season, compiling 36 tackles and three sacks. He'll likely be seeking more money and playing time than the Dolphins can offer. The five-year veteran knows he'd be behind Kendall Langford and youngster Jared Odrick right out of the gate.

NFL suspended DE Tony McDaniel one game for violating the league's Personal Conduct Policy.

We assume it's as a result of his February arrest for misdemeanor battery, an incident that wasn't McDaniel's first. With Jared Odrick still out, Lionel Dotson and Ryan Baker will have to play more integral roles in Week 4.

The South Florida Sun Sentinel confirms that Tony McDaniel will step in for Jared Odrick (leg) as the starting right defensive end.

McDaniel isn't a huge downgrade from Odrick, but the Dolphins defensive line is now thin. Fringe players Robert Rose and Lionel Dotson are McDaniels' backups.

According to Tony McDaniel's girlfriend, the Dolphins defensive lineman's early-February arrest for misdemeanor battery wasn't the first time police had responded to a domestic dispute at McDaniel's home.

Alaina Smith, 24, told police that McDaniel pushed and grabbed her when he came home from a night of clubbing last November. Smith admitted that she smacked McDaniel in the face first. McDaniel's February arrest occurred after an alleged "shoving match" with Smith. McDaniel allegedly grabbed Smith's purse and pushed her to the pavement, where she hit her head.

Dolphins DE Tony McDaniel was arrested for domestic violence on Saturday.

He's charged with misdemeanor battery. This is McDaniel's first arrest as a pro, though he was kicked off the University of Tennessee team in 2005 for punching a student during a pick-up basketball game. The student needed a plate inserted into his face. McDaniel is a rotational lineman in Miami.
