Panthers placed CB Cletis Gordon (shoulder) on injured reserve, ending his season.
Gordon was vying for a special teams and fourth corner job in camp. As long as the shoulder injury isn't serious, he could resurface with another team during the season after a settlement with the Panthers. Thu, Aug 25, 2011 06:20:00 PM

Panthers signed CB Cletis Gordon, S De'Von Hall, and FB Richie Brockel to one-year contracts.

They're all camp body types. Gordon is a big corner at 6-foot-1, 212, but almost strictly a special teamer. Brockel and Hall have played under Ron Rivera before, but none of the above will be likely to make the roster.

Giants worked out free agent CB Cletis Gordon on Tuesday.

Gordon is a capable fourth corner who could provide depth with Aaron Ross nursing a plantar fasciitis injury.

Cowboys released CB Cletis Gordon.

After cutting both Gordon and Barry McCann today, it appears the Cowboys are prepared to roll with three corners, not including rookie S/CB Akwasi Owusu-Ansah. Gordon is still only 27 and can help a team as a fourth corner.

Cowboys reserve CB Cletis Gordon has made a positive impression thus far in training camp.

Gordon is competing with sixth-round pick Jamar Wall and undrafted rookie Bryan McCann for the fourth corner spot. "If you pinned me down and said who is the guy right now, I'd say Cletis Gordon," Cowboys secondary coach Dave Campo said. "He's been in the league. I like what he's doing."

Cowboys agreed to terms with CB Cletis Gordon on a one-year contract.

The team originally wasn't going to tender Gordon as a restricted free agent, so he agreed to a reduced salary. Gordon is only of special teams help.

Cowboys re-signed CB Cletis Gordon.

Dallas is thin because Alan Ball has taken over as the club's starting free safety with Ken Hamlin (high ankle sprain) out indefinitely. Gordon, 26, knows Wade Phillips' scheme and can immediately step in as a dime corner.

Lions claimed CB Cletis Gordon off waivers from the Texans.

Gordon is versed in man coverage, which new Detroit coordinator Gunther Cunningham will use plenty of, but the 26-year-old isn't a candidate to start.

Chargers released CB Cletis Gordon.

The Chargers were reportedly unhappy with his "lack of physicality" on special teams, so they're giving him a chance to catch on elsewhere. 2008 first-round pick Antoine Cason will be the Bolts' nickel back this season.

Chargers signed restricted free agent CB Cletis Gordon to a one-year, $1.545 million contract.

While we try to figure out why the release of the regular season schedule is even remotely a big deal when we already knew who everyone will play, Cletis Gordon is signing one-year deals. The special teams performer/dime back will compete for playing time with Antoine Cason in training camp.
