The agent for Raiders RG Mike Brisiel clarified that his client lost no money upon restructuring his contract.
Initially believed to have taken a pay cut, Brisiel will instead receive a guaranteed roster bonus of $3 million next week in exchange for slashing his salary from $4.35 million to $1.35 million. The $3 million payment will be treated like a signing bonus and prorated over the contract's life, lowering Brisiel's 2013 salary cap charge but increasing his cap number in future years. The Raiders have worked out a restructured contract with RG Mike Brisiel, dropping his 2013 salary from $4.35 million to $1.35 million.

It sounds like a true pay cut as opposed to a salary cap move. Brisiel was signed specifically to play guard in former Raiders OC Greg Knapp's zone-blocking system. The zone scheme has since been scrapped, and Brisiel may return as a backup only in 2013. He would've been released without the restructuring.

CSN Bay Area expects Raiders RG Mike Brisiel to be released.

Recovering from "major" ankle surgery, zone-blocker Brisiel is no longer a schematic fit with the Raiders returning to a power scheme. Releasing Brisiel would free up $2.8 million in cap space, while the Raiders have a pair of potential young (and cheap) replacements in Tony Bergstrom and Lucas Nix. Brisiel is as good as gone.

Raiders RG Mike Brisiel underwent "major" ankle surgery after the season.

It sounds like a procedure that could sideline Brisiel until training camp. Signed away from the Texans last offseason as a zone-blocking guard, Brisiel's future is up in the air as the Raiders plan to install a power-running offense in 2013. Brisiel, who turns 30 in March, is owed a $4.35 million base salary.

Raiders RG Mike Brisiel sustained a concussion in Sunday's loss to the Panthers.

It's the second concussion he's dealt with this season. Assuming he sits out the finale, Brisiel will finish a disappointing year with the Raiders, grading out negatively in all aspects by Pro Football Focus. Lucas Nix or Alex Parsons will likely be used to replace him in the starting lineup.

Raiders RG Mike Brisiel is expected to play Sunday after passing his concussion tests.

"I did what I was supposed to do, and they allowed me to practice so I'm not going to miss any time," said Brisiel, who was concussed after taking a knee to the back of the head at Atlanta. The Raiders have yet to play a full game with their projected starting five offensive linemen, and it shows. They've been a bottom-five unit this season.

Raiders RG Mike Brisiel left Sunday's Week 6 loss to the Falcons with a head injury and did not return.

Brisiel almost certainly sustained a concussion. He was replaced by Alex Parsons.

Raiders signed OG Mike Brisiel, formerly of the Texans, to a five-year, $20 million contract.

The Raiders are moving back to a zone-blocking rushing attack. Brisiel not only has five years of experience in the scheme, but also played Oakland coordinator Greg Knapp and OL coach Frank Pollack in Houston. Brisiel should take the right guard vacancy opened by Cooper Carlisle's release.

The Redskins have expressed interest in free agent OG Mike Brisiel.

Brisiel knows Redskins OC Kyle Shanahan well from their time together in Houston. The zone-blocking specialist has also attracted attention from the Raiders.

Free agent RG Mike Brisiel will reportedly visit the Raiders.

The Raiders released RG Cooper Carlisle earlier in the day. They're also expected to move Stefen Wisniewski to center to replace Samson Satele, opening up left guard as well.

Free agent RG Mike Brisiel wants to re-sign with the Texans this offseason.

A former undrafted free agent out of Colorado State, Brisiel is a zone-blocking guard and system fit in Houston. He probably wouldn't attract any interest from teams that run other schemes. "Everybody saw how close we were, and we know what it’s gonna take to get over that hump," said Brisiel, 29. "It’s gonna be a fun thing to be a part of. I hope I’ll get a chance."

Texans RG Mike Brisiel (fractured fibula) has resumed practicing.

Brisiel split the first-team reps 60-40 with Antoine Caldwell, a sign that he will return Saturday just over three weeks removed from the injury. With Andre Johnson also healthy and T.J. Yates (shoulder) practicing "very well," the Texans offense is as close to full strength as it's been in a month.

Texans RG Mike Brisiel is out indefinitely with a fractured fibula.

The Texans aren't placing Brisiel on injured reserve, instead hoping he can recover as quickly as FS Danieal Manning did from the same injury. Manning only missed three weeks. Brisiel won't be rushed back, but the "hope" is that he'll return at some point during the playoffs. The Texans will turn to Antoine Caldwell, who started 10 games during the 2009 and 2010 seasons.

Texans re-signed OGs Mike Brisiel and Kasey Studdard.

Brisiel started nine games last season before a calf injury sent him to injured reserve. He'll be in the mix for the starting right guard position. The 28-year-old Brisiel is an underrated lineman, excelling in run and pass blocking. Studdard was active for just one game in 2010 and will be on the bubble.

Texans placed RG Mike Brisiel (right calf) on injured reserve, ending his season.

Brisiel wound up starting nine games, holding up well at right guard. The 27-year-old has been injury prone as a pro, however, only making it through a 16-game schedule once in his five-year career. The Texans will have to decide how highly they value Brisiel as an unrestricted free agent in 2011.
